🏀 NBA DFS Plays for Friday, 11/12
Fridays are my favorite night of the week to play NBA DFS, and we have a massive eleven-game slate to navigate tonight! In this article I’ll offer up at least one player to pay up for, one rock-solid value, and one salary saver at each position category. Take note that some players have different position eligibility between FanDuel and DraftKings. The salary structure is also a bit different between the two sites. When you see a player cheaper on FD than DK, it’s a situation worth investigating.
Only five games tonight have projected totals over 220 points, so make sure to look to those games when trying to find value. As of this writing, there aren’t any major injury concerns to monitor. That being said, there’s always a chance of unexpected news breaking just ahead of lock, so make sure to pay attention as tip-offs approach.
Let’s dive in!
Damian Lillard (POR)
FanDuel – $8,500
DraftKings – $9,800
When Dame is hot, you get him into your DFS lineups. Over his last three games, he’s shot over 49% from the field and nearly 36% from three-point range, both well above his season average. He’ll benefit from the matchup with Houston, which is expected to be one of the highest-scoring on the night. He’s also the first of many values available on FanDuel tonight, where he has the highest FD rating according to the Rise or Fall NBA study hub.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC)
FanDuel – $7,900
DraftKings – $8,800
Most of my favorite guards tonight are only point guard eligible, but at least SGA is shooting guard eligible on FD. He’s leading the Thunder with a 27.6% usage rate, which should be enough to get it done in a game featuring two teams that are each top-twelve in pace-of-play.
Lonzo Ball (CHI)
FanDuel – $5,800
DraftKings – $6,500
The eldest Ball brother comes in at a reasonable salary on both sites tonight. He’s been known to stuff the stat sheet, and he gets a nice pace-up game against the Warriors. Every extra possession is another chance for him to work his way towards his second triple-double of the season.
Killian Hayes (DET)
FanDuel – $4,400
DraftKings – $3,800
Hayes is coming off a dud performance against Houston earlier in the week, but the young guard is still seeing plenty of time on the court. He’s averaged nearly 29 minutes/game over his last three outings. It’s not an exciting matchup with the Cavs, but he should fall into enough usage with his time on the court to pay off his salary tonight, especially with his discount price on DK.
Others to consider: Russell Westbrook (LAL), LaMelo Ball (CHA), Cade Cunningham (DET)

Kevin Durant (BKN)
FanDuel – $10,300
DraftKings – $11,100
There’s no high-level analysis here. Simply put, it’s rarely a mistake to slot Durant into your DFS lineup. His 32.6% usage rate makes him a safe cash game play, even in a middle-of-the-road matchup with New Orleans tonight.
FanDuel – $8,700
DraftKings – $8,500
There are a lot of studs forwards to pay up for tonight, but I like where DeRozan is priced in the next tier. The 13-year veteran is having a resurgence in his first year with the Bulls, averaging more points/game (26) than he has since the 2016-17 campaign with Toronto. It doesn’t get much safer than DeRozan against the Warriors for cash game lineups tonight.
Jaren Jackson (MEM)
FanDuel – $6,500
DraftKings – $6,200
Since mentioning him in last Friday’s article, Jackson’s salary has been slowly but steadily increasing. It’s still not as high as it should be. Over his last four games, he’s averaged 17.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. He should meet or exceed those numbers again in a good matchup with the Suns tonight.
Chimezie Metu (SAC)
FanDuel – $4,000
DraftKings – $3,600
Metu is a unique situation. He’s listed as a center of FD and a power forward on DK but doesn’t have dual eligibility on either site. I’m listing him here under the forwards heading because his salary is just too low on DK. He’s entered the rotation the last two games and averaged 20 DK points/game, more than enough to pay off his ultra-low salary.
Others to consider: Jayson Tatum (BOS), Miles Bridges (CHA), Keldon Johnson (SA)

Anthony Davis (LAL)
FanDuel – $10,800
DraftKings – $10,900
Davis has forward eligibility as well, but I like the idea of using some of the other forwards listed above and slotting Davis in at center. He’s been dominant over his past two games without LeBron James, averaging 28.0 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals. He should stay hot tonight in the matchup with Minnesota that features one of the highest expected point totals of the slate. Of course, DFS veterans know there’s always the chance Davis doesn’t finish the game, so tread lightly.
Christian Wood (HOU)
FanDuel – $8,200
DraftKings – $9,000
Given his inconsistency, Wood isn’t somebody you want to play in cash lineups. He does, however, come with a great ceiling. He could hit that ceiling tonight against Portland, who ranks near the bottom of fantasy points allowed to the position.
Tony Bradley (CHI)
FanDuel – $4,400
DraftKings – $3,000
With Nikola Vucevic sideling due to COVID protocols, Bradley will be stepping into the starting center role for Chicago. He won’t command the same usage as Vucevic, but he’ll see plenty of time on the court in what should be a high-scoring matchup with the Warriors. You can’t beat his bare minimum salary on DK.
Others to consider: Clint Capela (ATL), Mason Plumlee (CHA), Daniel Theis (HOU)
