MLB Picks and Advice 8-24
Jack Flaherty- At $9,300 on DraftKings and $10,000 on FanDuel, Flaherty is priced up for a matchup against Kansas City. The Royals have an implied run total of 3.36 and Flaherty was in the CY Young conversation last season. Flaherty has only pitched 8.2 innings this year but, we know the talent is there. I feel safe tossing Flaherty into cash lineups.
Trevor Bauer- At $10,200 on DraftKings and $12,000 on FanDuel, Bauer is priced up for a matchup against Milwaukee. Bauer has gotten off to a historic start posting a K/9 of 14.01 and a FIP of 1.94 in 2020. I’ll be locking Bauer into my cash lineups.
Arizona Diamondbacks- The Diamondbacks are facing Ryan Castellani with an implied run total of 5.35. I’m going to lead on the large total in this spot and attack the inexperienced starting pitcher. Focus on David Peralta, Ketel Marte, Starling Marte, and Christian Walker.
Houston Astros- The Astros have a matchup against Patrick Sandoval with an implied run total of 5.32. Sandoval has struggled in 2020 posting a K/9 of 6.3 and a FIP of 5.91. I expect Houston to score early and often in this spot. Focus on George Springer, Kyle Tucker, Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve.
Jesus Luzardo- At $7,400 on DraftKings and $7,700 on FanDuel, Luzardo is priced in the mid-range against Texas. The Rangers have been horrendous on offense in 2020 posting a wRC+ of 68. I’ll be attacking the Texas offense with Luzardo in tournaments.
Alec Mills- At $7,800 on DraftKings and $7,500 on FanDuel, Mills is at a favorable price point against Detroit. Mills is going to be a volatile play that should be low owned, and Detroit has struck out at a league-high 28.5%. I’ll have shares of Mills in tournaments.
Cincinnati Reds- The Reds have a matchup against Brett Anderson with an implied run total of 4.51. Anderson has been below average posting a K/9 of 7.41 and FIP of 4.27. I expect the Reds to score in bunches in this spot. Focus on Nick Castellanos, Eugenio Suarez, Matt Davidson, and Mike Moustakas.
Minnesota Twins- The Twins have a matchup against Aaron Civale with an implied run total of 4.19. Civale is coming off a complete game against Pittsburgh that could induce recency bias. Minnesota can explode for 10 runs against any pitcher and they have an abundance of power in their lineup. Focus on Nelson Cruz, Max Kepler, Eddie Rosario, and Miguel Sano.
