5 FREE FanDuel and DraftKings NBA DFS Picks 1/24

Let’s get to my early NBA DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. As always this is a quick peek at the upcoming slate. Things are subject to change so check Team Rise or Fall throughout the day for the latest news and notes.

Start your research with this spot every day for our first look at standout Vegas totals, pace up picks, and notable injury news. At the end I’ll address how I would handle this slate with the info we have available. This is a preview and plenty of decisions are subject to change depending on how the day’s news plays out.

The picks below are for the five-game main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Join me in welcoming the Washington Wizards back to NBA DFS after a prolonged absence due to Covid-19, protocols, and all of that stuff. Slates are always more fun when guys like Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal are available.

FanDuel and DraftKings Picks for 1-24

Let’s get to the picks!

NBA DFS Notable Vegas Totals

Atlanta Hawks @ Milwaukee Bucks O/U 230.5

Trae Young (9.4k DK/10.5k FD) is currently listed as questionable for this game. The Team Rise or Fall “NBA News” channel in Discord will give you all the latest about his status.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (10.4k/11.3k) headlines the game as the “stud.” Clint Capela (8.5k/10k) is working himself into the stud category by averaging over 55 fantasy points over his last five games.

The Milwaukee Bucks defensive plan is to pack the paint and encourage three pointers. We saw Kentavious Caldwell-Pope benefit greatly from this a few nights ago. Kevin Huerter (5.5k/5.7k) and/or Cam Reddish (4.9k/4.5k) could be the guys to benefit tonight. Especially if Young doesn’t play.

Other picks to consider from this game are Jrue Holliday (7.3k/7.7k), Khris Middleton (7.8k/7.9k), and John Collins (7k/6.6k). Collins is the riskiest pick of the group but if you think it’s “Collins Day” I’m not here to stop you.

NBA DFS Pace Up Picks

Washington Wizards @ San Antonio Spurs O/U 231

Washington Pace Rating: 105.8

San Antonio Pace Rating: 100.7

Game Total: 231

As I mentioned above the Washington Wizards are back to playing games. So of course that means Russell Westbrook (10.1k DK/9.9k FD) is questionable tonight. Bradley Beal (10.2k/10.3k)always deserves consideration as one of our picks, but I like him much more if Russ doesn’t play.

DeMar DeRozan (7.6k/7.7k) is the Spurs top option so nothing surprising about him being one of the top picks from this game. Lamarcus Aldridge (6k/5.6k) is extremely hit or miss but should do well against a thin Washington team.

If the game is a high scoring one as Vegas predicts I like Keldon Johnson (6.4k/6.6k) and a resurgent Rudy Gay (5.3k/4.5k) to play well tonight too.

NBA DFS Injury News

Probable: None.

Questionable: Russell Westbrook, Raul Neto, Dejounte Murray, De’Andre Hunter, Trae Young, Frank Ntilikina, and Austin Rivers.

Doubtful: Aaron Nesmith and Reggie Bullock.

Out: Michael Carter-Williams, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Love, Davis Bertans, Rui Hachimura, Ish Smith, and Troy Brown Jr.

NBA DFS Early Picks

Nikola Vucevic (9.1k DK/9.5k FD) – Nikola is my big man go-to-guy on the slate tonight. He’s averaging 49 fantasy points per game over his last five games. He’ll face off against a Charlotte Hornets team that ranks 21st in the league against the center position. I refer to Vuc as a poor man’s Jokic so hopefully he helps turn a poor man into a rich man tonight.

DeMar DeRozan (7.6k DK/7.7k FD)¬† – DeRozan is in a great spot against a Washington Wizards team that hasn’t played basketball since the Trump administration. He does draw a tough matchup as the Wiz are ranked 1st in the NBA in defense against the shooting guard position. I’m thinking rust and chemistry come into play as the Spurs roll Washington.

Marcus Smart (6.1k DK/6.4k FD) – The Celtics and Smart take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in what should be a really fun game. The Cavs are coming off of two victories over the Brooklyn Nets and are riding a three-game winning streak. The Celtics are on a three-game losing streak. I’m expecting Boston to get back in the win column and for Smart to be a big part of the victory. He’s averaged 29 fantasy points over his last five games, and he should thrive in a high action game tonight.
