Let’s get to my early NBA DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. As always this is a quick peek at the upcoming slate. Things are subject to change so check Team Rise or Fall throughout the day for the latest news and notes.
Start your research with this spot every day for our first look at standout Vegas totals, pace up picks, and notable injury news. At the end I’ll address how I would handle this slate with the info we have available. This is a preview and plenty of decisions are subject to change depending on how the day’s news plays out.
The picks below are for the 10-game main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel. We know how much things can change in NBA DFS so keep your eyes on the Team Rise or Fall NBA News channel in our Discord. We’ll have all of the late breaking news there for you.
Let’s get to the picks!
Atlanta Hawks @ Washington Wizards O/U 234
Trae Young (9.1k DraftKings/10.6k FanDuel) and Bradley Beal (10.2k/10.5k) headline the game with the highest implied total on the slate. Young is definitely more appealing on DraftKings although he’s been on fire after a mini slump.
Clint Capela (8.9k/9.6k) is slated to play although he’s dealing with a hand injury. I’m expecting him to dominate if he’s back to his normal healthy self. Young, Beal, and Capela are all averaging 50+ fantasy points per game over their last five games.
Speaking of normal and healthy, Russell Westbrook (9k/9.6k) is slated to play. He’s really hit or miss for me. You know how it is in DFS. There’s some guys you never play on the right days. Russ is averaging 37.5 fantasy points over his last five games. That wouldn’t be worth his price tag, but again, DFS.
De’Andre Hunter (6.3k/6.6k) and Cam Reddish (4.6k/4.7k) draw consideration from me as lower priced guys in a game with a high implied total.
Brooklyn Nets @ Oklahoma City Thunder O/U 232
The Brooklyn “Big Three Minus One” travel to Oklahoma to take on the currently feisty Thunder.
James Harden (10.3k DraftKings/9.8k FanDuel) Averaging 46 fantasy points per game over his last five games.
Kyrie Irving (8.7k/9.2k) Averaging 45 fantasy points per game over his last five games.
Kevin Durant is out so both players have the potential to go off. Kyrie looks the “safest” when considering salary and recent form.
On the OKC side Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (8.3k/8.5k) and his 43 fantasy points per game average over the last five games is always the place to start. Al Horford (5.9k/5.5k) has been decent lately if you’re looking to get really creative at the center position.
Atlanta Hawks @ Washington Wizards
Washington Pace Rating: 104.7
Atlanta Pace Rating: 99.5
Game Total: 234
I touched on this game above so I won’t add a lot. This is a pretty obvious game to target so expect the main pieces to be well owned. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t play Beal or Capela. It just means that everyone else will be on the same train of thought. That’s DFS and we should be used to finding unique opportunities to mix in with our chalkier plays.
Probable: Clint Capela, Alec Burks, and Ed Davis.
Questionable: Cam Reddish, Rajon Rondo, Lonzo Ball, Larry Nance Jr., Reggie Bullock, OG Anunoby, Joel Embiid, D’Angelo Russell, Donovan Mitchell, and Derrick Favors.
Doubtful: Nemanja Bjelica
Out: Kevin Durant, Ish Smith, Troy Brown Jr., Kevin Love, Terrence Ferguson, Mike Scott, Juan Hernangomez, Jarrett Culver, Karl-Anthony Towns, Ty Jerome, George Hill, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Michael Carter-Williams, P.J. Dozier, Derrick White, and Maxi Kleber.
Bradley Beal (10.2k DK/10.5k FD) – Beal was visibly and verbally frustrated following Washington’s latest loss. His wife even voiced her frustrations on social media. All of that doesn’t mean he’ll play better or worse in this game, but he’s been on fire lately. I see no reason for that to stop against Atlanta this evening.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (8.3k DK/8.5k FD) – Shai comes into tonight’s action averaging 46 fantasy points over his last three games. Kevin Durant is out for Brooklyn which I think equals and even more run-and-gun heavy game. You know I’m a big fan of guys that handle the rock a lot in games with high totals. SGA checks those boxes for me.
OG Anunoby (6.5k DK/6.2k FD) – OG is listed as questionable so we’ll have to keep our ears open for the latest news. He’s been solid over his last three games, five games, and seven games. OG averaged a consistent 34 fantasy points in all three categories. If he goes off for slightly above the average we’re gonna be very happy with his performance.
