Welcome to the Team Rise or Fall Free FanDuel and DraftKings NBA DFS picks article. This morning we will highlight some standout Vegas totals, pace ups picks, notable injury news, and my preferred way to pick apart the slate. At the conclusion of the article, we’ll discuss how I plan on handling the slate with the information we have this early in the day. Be mindful that this preview is subject to change as news breaks throughout the day which can and will affect some of these picks.
Portland Trail Blazers @ Milwaukee Bucks O/U 236.5
The Trail Blazers will be without three key contributors again tonight, C.J. McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, and Derrick Jones. This will put the scoring load onto Dame Lillard ($10.7k DraftKings / $10k FanDuel) again tonight. Lillard is averaging 55.68 DK / 51.52 FD points over his last five games.
Gary Trent Jr ($5.7k / $5.5k) has filled in admirably for the injured McCollum. Trent has seen his production increase over his last three games, I just caution you before you lock him into your lineups and he is very scoring dependent for fantasy points.
The Bucks are led by Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11k / 11.6k). Should the Trail Blazers be able to keep the game close it would allow Giannis to fill out the stat sheet in every category as he typically does.
Jrue Holiday ($7.7k / $7.5k) and Khris Middleton ($8.5k / $7.9k) are secondary plays for me. Vegas has this as the highest-scoring game on the slate and I’ll continue to beat this horse – IF, the Blazers can keep it close it’ll allow for these secondary guys to get their fantasy points.
Sacramento Kings @ New Orleans Pelicans O/U 233
De’Aaron Fox ($8.3k / $8.2k) leads the Kings in this high scoring matchup. Fox leads the team in scoring, assists, and steals. While this is a pace down matchup for the Kings it’s not a matchup I would be afraid of for Fox.
Rookie guard Tyrese Haliburton ($5.2k / $5.4) has only started one game so far this season but is averaging the most minutes off the bench for the team. His price is fair on both sites and would give you exposure to the second-highest scoring game on the slate.
The Pelicans are led by Brandon Ingram ($8.2k / $8k) and Zion Williamson ($7.9k / 8.3k). I don’t believe the Kings have the size to match up well with either player.
Houston Rockets @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Houston Pace Rating: 104.1
Oklahoma Pace Rating: 103
The Rockets will be at close to full strength tonight with only David Nwaba showing on the injury report. The main guys I’ll have interest in tonight on the Rockets will be Victor Oladipo ($8k / $8.2) and Christian Wood ($8.9k / $8.9k). Oladipo has the team’s highest usage rate since the trade and Wood comes in second on the team while posting the team’s highest rebounding rate.
On the Oklahoma side of the ball, I want Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($8.1k / $8.3k). He is the teams de facto do it all guy. He fills in the stat sheet with all the peripheral stats that make an even more attractive play on FanDuel which rewards steals and blocks.
Probable: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Questionable: Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Goran Dragic, Tyler Herro, Avery Bradley, Naz Reid, Steven Adams, Devin Booker
Out: Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, Wendell Carter Jr, Kevin Love, Jonas Valanciunas, Jaren Jackson Jr, Karl-Anthony Towns, George Hill, Jusuf Nurkic, C.J. McCollum, Derrick Jones Jr
NBA DFS Early Look Picks
Andre Drummond – I’d like to go back to the well on this one. They played last night, and the wolves could not stop Drummond. No KAT again tonight means Drummond should have his way down low.
De’Angelo Russell – I feel like he underperformed last night and in return, we saw a price decrease on both sites. I know the rookie Anthony Edwards showed up big last night but as we see with most rookies it is hard for them to perform consistently. I like Russell to show up tonight as do our ratings in the NBA Study Hub.
Nikola Jokic – I know I have Drummond listed above but if you’ve read my articles you would see I have love for the walking triple-double known as Nikola Jokic. He is one of my favorite players to roster because of his ability to fill the stat sheet in every category. The Pistons won’t be able to contain him tonight.
These are my early favorites but I encourage you to check out our Coaches’ Building Blocks closer to lock!
