Welcome to the Team Rise or Fall Free FanDuel and DraftKings NBA DFS picks article. This morning we will highlight some standout Vegas totals, pace ups picks, notable injury news, and my preferred way to pick apart the slate. At the conclusion of the article, we’ll discuss how I plan on handling the slate with the information we have this early in the day. Be mindful that this preview is subject to change as news breaks throughout the day which can and will affect some of these picks.
So, about last night… I know many of us were frustrated due to the Nuggets/Pistons game being postponed so late, but it looks like DraftKings and FanDuel are going to do right by the customer and refund any net losses. Keep your head up and let’s move on to tonight’s five-game slate!
Los Angeles Clippers @ Brooklyn Nets O/U 241.5
This game has the highest implied total on the slate, and I want to bring it to attention because I don’t think it’ll get there. I may be completely wrong in trusting my gut but the Clippers play at one of the slowest paces in the league with only the Knicks playing slower. I’m not saying it can’t get there but on a small slate like today, it may require us to plant our flags in places to make sure we can differentiate in tournaments.
The Clippers are led by Kawhi Leonard ($9.2k DraftKings / $9.6k FanDuel) and Paul George ($8.9k / $8.4). They can and will get there’s as the Nets don’t play a lick of defense after the Nets meltdown loss to the Wizards a few nights ago Kyrie Irving admitted to “not being able to guard a stick.” The Nets also have issues guarding the frontcourt as they traded their previous rim protector Jarrett Allen. I like Serge Ibaka ($6k / $6.4) in this matchup as well.
The Nets look to have their big three all good to go tonight. Kevin Durant ($10.1k / $11.2k) and James Harden ($10.9k / $10.5k) are priced at their ceiling which has me wanting to pull off a complete fade. If I had to choose a Net to play, I’m either going Kyrie Irving ($8.8k / $9.5k) who is a much better value on DraftKings or Jeff Green ($5.4k / $5.1k).
Portland Trail Blazers @ Washing Wizards
Portland Pace Rating: 102.3 – 13th
Washington Pace Rating: 107.2 – 1st
The game has an implied total of 240.5 and I like it way more than the Nets / Clippers game. This will be a pace up game for the Trail Blazers who are on the second night of a back-to-back. The saving grace here is that they were pretty much blown out last night and the starters didn’t top 27 minutes. Dame Lillard ($10.7k / $10.2k) will look to bounce back after a lackluster performance last night. The Blazers are still without C.J. McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic so the scoring load will fall on Lillard once again.
On the other side of the court, the Wizards are coming off a big win against the Nets. Russell Westbrook ($9.1k / $10k) looks to be getting healthy after admitting he was playing on one leg for a while. Bradley Beal ($9.9k / $10.8k) leads the league in scoring and is ridiculously underpriced on DraftKings.
Probable: Draymond Green, Eric Paschall,
Questionable: Norman Powell, Nicolas Batum,
Out: Marcus Smart, Payton Pritchard, James Wiseman, OG Anunoby, Aaron Gordon, Patrick Beverley, Jonas Valanciunas, Jusuf Nurkic, C.J. McCollum, Raul Neto, Thomas Bryant, Killian Hayes
Russell Westbrook – Fast-paced game environment and he’s finally trending on getting healthy. He is underpriced on DraftKings and we have to hammer these pricing inefficiencies.
Bradley Beal – Same thing as with Westbrook, vastly underpriced on DraftKings, take advantage.
Cole Anthony – The team is without Fultz or Gordon, someone will have to step up and provide scoring.
This is my early look, as news changes throughout the day make sure to check in later and look into our coach’s Building Blocks to help build your lineups!
