Let’s get to the picks!
Toronto Raptors @ Brooklyn Nets O/U 240
There’s a game with a 240 point implied game total so you know that’s where we’re gonna start today’s research. The Nets have a historic offense and are currently sporting one of the NBA’s worst defenses. There should be fantasy goodness all over this game.
James Harden (10.6k DraftKings/11k FanDuel), Kevin Durant (9.6k/10.7k), and Kyrie Irving (9.1k/9.5k) are all listed as playing for the Nets tonight. Harden has the slight matchup advantage, but Kyrie gives us exposure to a top player and comes with a discount compared to his teammates. Joe Harris (5.8k/5.3k) and Jeff Green (5.2k/5.1k) are also in the mix in a game that should feature a lot of fantasy scoring.
The Raptors have their own big three in Fred VanVleet (7.9k/9k), Kyle Lowry (7.8k/8.5k), and Pascal Siakam (7.6k/8.9k). None of them have a major matchup advantage over the others. Siakam seems like a good play on DraftKings, and Lowry a better play on FanDuel if I’m strictly looking at pricing.
A fast paced, up and down game seems like an environment for Chris Boucher (4.5k/4.7k) to thrive, but he’s broken 20 minutes twice in his last seven games. He has no 20 minute runs in his last four games. He’s at his lowest price in weeks but I just don’t know because of his minutes. Norman Powell (6.7k/6.4k) and Aaron Baynes (4.2k/4.6k) draw some consideration at this point in the day.
Washington Wizards @ Miami Heat
Washington Pace Rating: 104
Miami Pace Rating: 98.8
Game Total: 230
The Wizards will have Bradley Beal (9.5k Draftkings/10.8k FanDuel) and Russell Westbrook (9k/9.8k) in their lineup for tonight’s matchup with the Heat. For all of the crap Russell Westbrook takes in conventional NBA conversations, he’s been an absolute beast in DFS. He’s scored more than 50 DraftKings points eight times out of his last 12 games. On FanDuel he has five 50+ performances in his last 12 games so he’s definitely a better value on DK.
Jimmy Butler (8.3k/8.5k) has been on a tear since returning to the lineup. His running mates Bam Adebayo (9.2k/9.2k) and Tyler Herro (6.5k/6k) are other solid picks from this pace up spot.
When it comes to non-stars and value picks in this game I’m looking at Rui Hachimura (5.4k/5k), Goran Dragic (5.7k/5.2k), Kelly Olynyk (4.8k/4.8k), and Deni Avdija (3.9k/3.7k).
Probable: Naz Reid, Gabe Vincent, Goran Dragic, Terry Rozier, and Derrick Rose.
Questionable: Colin Sexton, Juan Hernangomez, D’Angelo Russell, Jaylen Brown, and Payton Pritchard.
Doubtful: Otto Porter and Jae Crowder.
Out: Michael Carter-Williams, Larry Nance Jr., Kevin Love, OG Anunoby, Patrick McCaw, Jarrett Culver, Karl-Anthony Towns, Luguentz Dort, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Raul Neto, Moe Harkless, PJ Washington, Dario Saric, Cameron Payne, and Patrick Beverley.
Russell Westbrook (9k DK/9.8k FD) – I like Westbrook on DraftKings and I’ll probably pass on him on FanDuel. He’s been dropping monster numbers when he plays and I don’t see any reason for that to stop. You can roll the dice on him on FanDuel (You’re braver than me if you do) but hitting 6x value will be hard, and I have to believe anything above that is out of the question.
Andre Drummond (8.2k DK/7.5k FD) – Drummond dropped 63 DK points and 59 FD points the last time he faced off against the Milwaukee Bucks. That’s no guarantee of his future performance, but the Bucks are ranked 30th in the NBA against the center position. Time to bang the Drumm.
Naz Reid (5.4k DK/5.8k FD) – Reid has a probable tag so I’m banking on him playing. He’s filled in pretty admirably for Karl-Anthony Towns, and we’re catching him at a discount compared to his recent pricing. He’s one of my stronger picks on DraftKings because of the ability to play two centers.
