NBA DFS Picks and Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Let’s get to the picks!

NBA DFS Picks Notable Vegas Totals

Brooklyn Nets @ Philadelphia 76ers O/U 236.5

This game carries the highest implied total on the slate, but the story here is contact tracing and the players that will be available. Kyrie Irving is listed as out for this game, and Kevin Durant (9.8k DraftKings/10.5k FanDuel) is listed as questionable.

Durant was a late scratch from last night’s game against the Toronto Raptors, then he was allowed to play and joined the game late, only to be pulled in the second half due to contact tracing. I expected him to have an “out” designation but it’s NBA DFS so anything goes.

So, with Kai out and Durant up in the air we have to love James Harden (10.7k/10.8k) today. He was probably up all night thinking about all of the shots he’s gonna take today. Bruce Brown Jr. (3.5k/4.3k), Jeff Green (5.2k/5.1k), and Joe Harris (6k/5.3k) all deserve consideration, and even moreso when Durant is officially listed as out.

For the Sixers we have Joel Embiid (10.5k/10.5k) with a questionable tag after injuring his knee against the Portland Trailblazers. Joel’s played like an MVP so far this season so I like him in almost every situation until his price tag reaches a point that doesn’t make sense for our lineups.

Ben Simmons (8.5k/9k) is listed as probable so I’m expecting him to go. His value obviously increases if Embiid is out. Seth Curry (4.3k/3.9k) has a questionable tag so we’ll be keeping an eye on that as well.

Other Sixers drawing consideration (Some depending on the news) are Dwight Howard (3.9k/4.1k), Shake Milton (4.4k/4.7k), Tobias Harris (7.6k/7.9k), and Tyrese Maxey (3.7k/4.3k).

NBA DFS Advice and Picks for FanDuel & DraftKings

NBA DFS Picks Pace Up Spots

Milwaukee Bucks @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Milwaukee Pace Rating: 102.1

Cleveland Pace Rating: 97.3

Game Total: 228

The Bucks and Cavaliers played yesterday with Milwaukee winning 123-105. Giannis Antetokounmpo (11k DraftKings/11.2k FanDuel) led the way for the Bucks with 64.5 DraftKings points and 65.4 FanDuel points.

I expected a bigger game from Andre Drummond (7.9k/6.9k) yesterday, but that’s that DFS life. Best laid plans and all of that. I’m leaning away from Drummond tonight due to “Big man on a back-to-back” theory. He played 30 minutes compared to 21 for Jarrett Allen (6.4k/7.4k).

I like all of the usual suspects in this game so Collin Sexton (7.3k/7k),  Jrue Holiday (7.7k/8.1k), and Khris Middleton (7.6k/7.3k). Sexton’s price seems a little high for his recent performance but maybe the pace up spot gets him back on track.

NBA DFS Injury News

Probable: Ben Simmons, Kevin Huerter, Rudy Gay, Jonas Valanciunas, Grayson Allen, Derrick Rose, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James.

Questionable: Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Seth Curry, Trae Young, Juan Hernangomez, Karl-Anthony Towns, Al Horford, Theo Maledon, Luguentz Dort, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dejounte Murray, David Nwaba, John Wall, Larry Nance Jr., and Eric Paschall.

Doubtful: Lauri Markkanen and Blake Griffin.

Out: Otto Porte, Michael Carter-Williams, Kyrie Irving, Mike Scott, OG Anunoby, Patrick McCaw, Kris Dunn, De’Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Jarrett Culver, LaMarcus Aldridge, Lonnie Walker IV, Kevin Love, Kevon Looney, and James Wiseman.

NBA DFS Picks Early Look

James Harden (10.7k DK/10.8k FD) – As I mentioned above Harden is a great option if he’s running without KD and Kyrie. Especially in a game with the highest total on the slate, and Embiid possibly not playing. We could get a Houston Harden type of performance tonight.

DeMar DeRozan (7.2k DK/7.8k FD)  – I like DeRozan as a pivot off of some of the higher priced or higher owned players in his range. He’s averaging 34 DraftKings points over his last five games, and dropped 48 fantasy points in his last game. I’m expecting him to crack 40 points again tonight.

Keldon Johnson (5.8k DK/5.3k FD)  – Johnson left a bad taste in the mouth of anyone that played him in his last game out. I’m expecting a bounce back game for Johnson tonight at Houston. This is nothing to base your research on BUT Keldon seems like he follows up a bad performance with a good performance.
