Welcome to the Team Rise or Fall Free FanDuel and DraftKings NBA DFS picks article. This article will highlight some standout Vegas totals, pace ups picks, notable injury news, and my preferred way to pick apart the slate. At the conclusion of the article, we’ll discuss how I plan on handling the slate with the information we have this early in the day. Be mindful that this preview is subject to change as news breaks throughout the day which can and will affect some of these picks.
Brooklyn Nets @ Detroit Pistons O/U 229.5
The Nets go into Detroit without a third of their big three tonight. Kevin Durant will be out for a few games because of the league’s COVID protocols. James Harden ($10.9k DraftKings / $11k FanDuel) and Kyrie Irving ($9.3k / $9.5k) will be the main benefactors in Durant’s absence as they’ll get more usage. DeAndre Jordan ($4.6k / $5.1k) is also a viable punt option at center, especially on DraftKings.
The Pistons are led by Jeremi Grant ($7k / $7.8k) who has exceeded all expectations so far this season. He’s been a role player in previous stops in career but has been able to flourish as “the man” in Detroit. Justin Jackson ($5.7k / $5.5k) is also in play for me in this situation. The Nets don’t play a lick of defense, but I do not feel confident running out Blake Griffin ($5k / $5.3k) who seems like a shell of his former self.
Philadelphia 76ers @ Sacramento Kings O/U 230.5
Joel Embiid ($10.5k / $10.6k) is playing like an MVP this season and I don’t see anyone on the Kings roster that can stop him. There are some ancillary plays on the 76ers as well, but I’m interested in them as more of tournament plays rather than cash plays. Ben Simmons ($8.4k / $9.1k) in my opinion is a better option on DraftKings where the site gives bonus points for double-doubles and triple-doubles. Tobias Harris ($7.7k / $8.2k) is also an option for me.
Golden State Warriors @ San Antonio Spurs
Warriors Pace Rating – 105.6 / 2nd
Spurs Pace Rating – 102.6 / 10th
This is a rematch of last night’s matchup. In the Warriors post-game press conference coach Steve Kerr was quoted as saying that he would not increase Steph Curry’s ($10.4 / $10.4k) minutes even in close game to maintain his longevity over the course of the season. Draymond Green ($6.9k / $7.5k) is looking like the Draymond of old filling up the stat sheet in every category. Kelly Oubre Jr ($6.2k / $6.7k) performances have been up and down but is viable as a tournament play.
Dejounte Murray ($6.5k / $6.8k) balled out last night but temper your expectations as it is highly unlikely he sees 8 steals again tonight. You also have to take into consideration that recency bias will have Murry garner high ownership. DeMar DeRozan ($7.8k / $8.3k) and Jakob Poetl ($6k / $5.5k) are also in play for me.
Questionable: Delon Wright, Wayne Ellington, Josh Hart
Doubtful: Derrick Rose
Out: Kevin Durant, James Wiseman, Kevon Looney, Avery Bradley, Goran Dragic, Victor Oladipo, Christian Wood, Mike Conley, Evan Fournier, Nasir Little, C.J. McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic
DeMarcus Cousin / Eric Gordon / John Wall – There is going to be tons of usage to go around this Houston offense with Christian Wood and Victor Oladipo being out today. The key will be choosing the right value.
Draymond Green – The Warriors are short on big-men and Draymond has been filling the stat sheet in every category.
Joel Embiid – The best player in the late hammer game.
This is my early look, as news changes throughout the day make sure to check in later and look into our coach’s NBA DFS Building Blocks to help build your lineups!
