Top 5 NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks

DraftKings NBA DFS Target – Luka Doncic, PG, DAL @ MIN O/U 231.5

Before we dive deeper I want you to be aware that the trade deadline is today so we can see some movement that can totally turn the slate on its head so be careful to manage your bankroll and watch for late-breaking news.

On DraftKings tonight I lean Luka Doncic over James Harden for a few reasons. I fully understand that Harden will be a usage monster again with no Durant or Kyrie Irving. I want to point out the fact that Harden played 40 minutes last night and is on the second night of a back-to-back.

On Luka’s behalf, I love the matchup against the bad Timberwolves team. This is a pace-up spot for the Mavericks in which Luka will be the main distributor. In review of the NBA Study Hub, we see Doncic sports an unreal 40.09% usage rate over the Mavericks last three games. He’s playing an average of 36.48 minutes per game while dropping 61.45 DraftKings points in that timeframe.

DraftKings NBA DFS Target – Devonte’ Graham, PG, CHA @ HOU O/U 222.5

LaMelo Ball is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a broken wrist. This puts Graham right back into the starting lineup where he started the season. He played 28 minutes in his return to the starting lineup. He provides nice salary relief at only $5,300 on DraftKings. His “Rise” rating in the NBA Study Hub which shows his likelihood to hit 5x his NBA DFS salary is at a beautiful 51%.

FanDuel NBA DFS Target – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, SG, OKC vs MEM O/U 221

Shai is criminally underpriced given his role for the Thunder. The Vegas implied total isn’t the greatest at only 221, but SGA allows you to spend in other areas. He is the highest-rated shooting in the NBA Study Hub beating out James Harden. What stands out is his “Rise” percentage at a whopping 69%. He also has a ridiculous 53% chance of hitting 5x his NBA DFS salary according to the NBA Study Hub’s Simulation Model.

FanDuel NBA DFS Target – Jarrett Allen, C, CLE @ CHI O/U 215.5

If you’ve followed the NBA this season you’ve seen big men have good games against the Chicago Bulls. Jarrett Allen isn’t necessarily the best there is but once Andre Drummond was put on the shelf he’s played all the minutes he can get. He’s slowed down a bit recently but I don’t see anyone on the Bulls – Wendall Carter Jr included, that can stop him. Per the initial run of the NBA Study Hub, it looks like Ivica Zubac and Jarrett Allen will garner some decent ownership numbers given the value per dollar.

NBA DFS Lineup Winning Pick – James Harden, SG, BKN @ UTA O/U 229.5

I know I totally thrashed Harden in my write-up of Luka Doncic. He is coming off a lot of minutes last night and he is on the second night of a back-to-back, but, he’s James Harden. He is the highest-projected scorer on both FanDuel and DraftKings per the NBA Study Hub. He’s going to shoot at will and have every opportunity to facilitate offensively.  He will carry ownership in cash because of the safety he provides but I wouldn’t blame you for fading in tournaments and playing a more balanced lineup.

NBA DFS Core Builds (Building Blocks)

The NBA DFS Core Builds are also referred to as our NBA DFS Building Blocks. Each staff member identifies the core players they would build their cash or GPP lineup around for both DraftKings and FanDuel. These NBA DFS Picks are basically the Building Blocks of their NBA DFS Lineups.

NBA DFS GPP Pivots (Slate Breakers)

The NBA DFS GPP Pivots is for those chasing glory in DFS tournaments on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The goal here for our staff is to identify a GPP pivot, often a price point pivot away from a chalky player, that could potentially break the slate and win you a tournament. Have you ever seen the guy that is lower-owned and went nuclear in tournaments and you think to yourself, “I should have pivoted to him?”. Our goal is to identify those GPP Pivots.

NBA DFS Picks Rankings

The NBA DFS Picks Rankings will be a staple to your daily fantasy basketball research. This list of players is compiled by a staff member while they are making a player pool for DraftKings and FanDuel. These players then get ranked in the form of Tiered Rankings, which you often see in Fantasy Basketball or Fantasy Football. These Tiered Rankings will help you identify the value in both NBA DFS Cash Games and NBA DFS GPP’s as it shows you who they value more at each position than other players.

NBA DFS Picks and Pools (Cash Games)

The NBA DFS Picks and Pools for Cash Games is clutch for anybody who wants to play those on either FanDuel or DraftKings. These are identified in the Tiered Rankings and player notes. This small list of players gives you a road map to putting together an NBA DFS Lineup each and every night.

NBA DFS Picks and Pools (GPP Priority Picks)

The NBA DFS Picks and Pools for GPP’s is crucial for Single Entry players. This list of priority picks are players with slate winning upside each night. They aren’t just the top projected players, they are picks that take into consideration the Rise or Fall ownership projection, tournament leverage, and daily fantasy basketball roster construction.

NBA DFS Strategy and Player Notes

In the NBA DFS Picks Rankings, there is a section for strategy and player notes. These are written up in the form of analysis for the player and best use of the player for DFS. In addition to the notes, being a part of the Rise or Fall Discord Chat is a fantastic way to discuss Draftkings, FanDuel, and SuperDraft with both members and staff. Everyone is in there picking each other’s brains all day long and enjoying DFS together.
