In case you’ve forgotten, the Jaguars drafted both Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The two were teammates at Clemson University. However, after injuring his foot, Etienne missed his rookie season. He’s primed and ready to take 2022 by storm though.
During his last season at Clemson, Travis Etienne ranked first in receiving yards and second in receptions among running backs across the country. He also held the title for the most rushing attempts over 20 (or more) yards in the 2018-2019 season. The Jags have an all new offense led by a new Head Coach, Doug Pederson. Known for relying on receptions outside of the backfield, a la Miles Sanders, Pederson is sure to put Etienne to work.
Sleeper Pick of 2022
FantasyPros call Travis Etienne a “must have”. SBNation and Sports Illustrated named him as one of 2022’s “sleeper” picks. Call him a must-have. Call him a sleeper. One thing you can’t call him is late in the draft. Etienne won’t be home. We’re seeing Travis Etienne being drafted mid-4th round and in some cases, late in the 3rd round.
The reports that came out of camp and the preseason have been nothing but full of praise for Etienne. Sporting news said, “There’s no question Etienne is a dynamic all-around talent with good burst, fine receiving skills, and red-zone juice.”
