Rashaad Penny has signed a 1-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles! At his current ADP of 158.8 in Underdog Fantasy Best Ball drafts, is he a viable target in the later rounds?
Let’s dig in!
Rashaad Penny in Best Ball
Penny’s potential starting role appears likely now that Miles Sanders looks to be leaving in free agency. With Sanders out of the picture, Penny should have a clear path to being the team’s lead back with Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell returning as the backups.
The Eagles logged 544 rushing attempts in 2022, which ranked third in the league. This bodes very well for Penny along with Jalen Hurts targeting running backs on 12% of his pass attempts. If Penny can absorb Sanders’ 58.7% market share of the running back workload.
There is an injury risk with Penny who has still not been healthy for a full season. The flip side of that coin is that when he IS healthy, he has a career yards-per-carry average of 5.7. We shouldn’t project him for that number by any means but the upside is definitely there.
If we’re drafting to take down these huge Best Ball tournaments, it’s hard to pass up a guy like Rashaad Penny in the 12th or 13th round! As long as his ADP stays higher than 100, I am IN on Penny.
