Saquon Barkley NYG vs. HOU(32nd)(FD-$9,500)(DK-$8,600)(Y!-$36)
It is very nice to see Barkley at the top of running back lists where he belongs. I will also keep this blurb short and sweet; Saquon will go bonkers on Sunday against the Texans. Last week Eagles RB Miles Sanders gained 93 yards on 17 carries. The week before King Henry went nuclear on 32 attempts and hung 219 rushing yards with two scores. Although expensive, Saquon is worth every penny this week! Let’s be overly ambitious and give Barkley 25 carries, 135ish yards, and two touchdowns. Don’t get me started on his receiving work! If it seems too good to be true then it usually is, unless it’s a running back playing against Houston.
Jeff Wilson Jr. MIA vs. CLE(29th)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$18)
The Cleveland Browns stink at stopping the run. This blurb could be over with but that wouldn’t be fun! The newly minted Dolphin, Jeff Wilson Jr., looks to have the inside edge in the backfield but we all know this will continue to be a timeshare. Which, in any other situation would be a hands-off approach. Not this one given the opposing team defense. I am expecting Wilson Jr. to continue his 5.1 yard per carry average while attempting 11 or 12 rushes. I have Miami to hang anywhere between 28-31 points and am willing to bet that Jeff is good for at least a touchdown.
Raheem Mostert MIA vs. CLE(29th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$6,100)(Y!-$19)
The old school method of playing fantasy football and daily fantasy sports just isn’t enough anymore. The idea of never playing two running backs from the same team is gone. The money lines continue to grow and leave those of us who don’t adapt behind. Having just mentioned one Miami running back let’s chat about the other one. Instead of always looking at the negatives let’s mention a few positives! The guy is quick. Less high-volume work may keep him fresh allowing that homerun hitting speed to flourish later in games. Cleveland is getting burned on the ground and what if, this Sunday, late in the 4th quarter Mostert takes off for a 40-yard touchdown? That’s our homerun, that’s our piece of the pie.
Khalil Herbert CHI vs. DET(27th)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,900)(Y!-$20)
At this stage of the season mixed with Fields record setting Week 9 performance what are the chances folks fade Herbert? All in fear of that tired old narrative, “The quarterback is their best RB.” Give me a break! Look at the opposing defense in Chicago on Sunday. Justin is a good bet for around 70 rushing yards but so is Montgomery and Khalil. Would it be foolish to use the combination of all three Bears? Justin Fields, David Montgomery, and Khalil Herbert? Who knows but I already have them locked in and let’s run it back with Jamaal Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown! Now we’re having some fun!
Devin Singletary BUF vs. MIN(6th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$16)
Last week was bad news for Devin. This week against a tough Vikings defense doesn’t look much better. I am taking a major leap of faith with the Bills and how they use Singletary, but I do believe our efforts are repaid. The AFC has been unbelievable in recent years given the talent of Buffalo and Kansas City. Can this NFC North Minnesota Vikings team hang in Buffalo? I have a little spoiler here and project the Bills to win 28-17. Meaning, Devin can really pop up and push us past the rest this week. Lock and load Devin for about a dozen carries, three receptions, and around 75 total all-purpose yards.
Jerick McKinnon KC vs. JAX(22nd)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$13)
My process here is simple. I love this game from an overall betting standing point. More importantly, betting on over 50.5 points. So, if we start there we can work back, and a few ideas start to appear. We have seen several people, including me, mention how unimportant the running back position is for Kansas City. Not being contradictory here so hear me out. Over the last few weeks, we have seen this cat and mouse game between Clyde Edwards-Helaire and rookie Isiah Pacheco. Let those battle it out and split 14 carries while Jet is on the field for some more meaningful work with upside. At such low cost with no ownership, McKinnon makes for a beautiful play, and piece, of this massive game total.
