Being kind, humble, and caring enough to see the changes in our attitudes this holiday season is the greatest gift we can give ourselves. Making sure our needs are met has been looked at as selfish. Given the hustle and bustle of parties and family gatherings, it’s enough to cause major stress and anxiety. Spend each day setting boundaries and realistic expectations for yourself. A happier and healthier you are the best way to enjoy all the season has to offer!

As we turn our attention to the week-to-week strategy of daily fantasy sports you will see it is ever-changing. We will never see the same week twice. Furthermore, the most often question asked of me is about attacking each slate. Do I stick with the same process while using an identical method each week? Simply put, no. The foundation of research is the only thing that remains intact week-to-week.

In all honesty, I normally take a day or two to process each week’s schedule. Writing down every thought, idea, and all possible ways to grab an edge. After honing in on Week 12 of the NFL season a weird idea surfaced. Double player stacks using a combo of guys from the same team that play the same position!

As we turn our attention to Week 12 it’s time to start suspending belief. Anything can happen. Anything goes. Over the years I have learned if your method is weird and the entry you have created looks awful then you’re on the right path. Happy Week 12!

QUARTERBACK

Jalen Hurts PHI @ NYG(21st)(FD-$8,400)(DK-$7,300)(Y!-$35)

I am so very happy about Jalen Hurts and his most recent success! I came across a tweet late Tuesday morning from Crys @crystalscuor about the weird vibe she gets from folks who wish failure upon others. I must agree. Especially in the realm of professional sports. Realistically, the outcomes of NFL games have no bearing on my regular everyday life. Broken down to its simplest form it’s entertainment. Plus, it’s always about how we want to spend our time. Miserable and angry or in peace and happiness? Choose wisely!

As the NFL season progresses the player pool for DFS formats will get uglier and uglier. Which is fine by me! I remain confidently humble in my ability to dig and pick out the cheaper upside options at each position. In Week 12 here are the quarterbacks I am rolling with!

Tyrod Taylor HOU v NYJ(20th)(FD-$7,400)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$20)

Houston Texans’ QB Tyrod Taylor completed 14-of-24 passes for only 107 yards but added six carries for 28 yards and two touchdowns in Week 11. That has always been the draw with Tyrod, the rushing upside. Granted he is 32 years old but in a very favorable match-up against the Jets on Sunday.

Carson Wentz IND v TB(22nd)(FD-$7,300)(DK-$5,800)(Y!-$26)

Carson Wentz went 11-for-20 for 106 passing yards and rushed twice for 18 yards. We all know that Jonathan Taylor dominated from start to finish against the Bills in Week 11 but in an odd way could that suppress Wentz’s ownership this week against Tampa Bay?

Joe Burrow CIN v PIT(16th)(FD-$7,100)(DK-$6,200)(Y!-$29)

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow completed 20-of-29 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown in Week 11. Joe was nothing special against the Raiders as Joe Mixon carried the load with 123 rushing yards and two scores. I am looking at Joe Burrow the exact same as Carson Wentz here in Week 12. Suppressed ownership against a beatable secondary.

Tua Tagovailoa MIA v CAR(5th)(FD-$6,900)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$22)

Tua looked fantastic in Week 11 while completing 27 of 33 passes for 273 yards, and two touchdowns. Sometimes all it really takes is a little dirt on your name or the incompetence around you to really step up to reach achieve greatness. The contest against the Panthers will be tough but Tua has the momentum to hang 270ish passing yards along with multiple scores.

Mac Jones NE v TEN(31st)(FD-$6,800)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$28)

Mac Jones completed 22-of-26 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown last Thursday night as the Pats embarrassed the Atlanta Falcons. To me, the rookie QB has fast become a reliable real-life quarterback rather than a trusted fantasy football quarterback. Which isn’t bad news. Just means we must be diligent when using Mac in DFS formats. Being selective and picking our spots is what daily fantasy sports are all about. However, in Week 12, Mac Jones makes for an excellent play given the DvP match-up against the Titans.

Joe Flacco NYJ @ HOU(25th)(FD-$6,700)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$23)

Joe Flacco was placed on the COVID-IR on Tuesday evening 11/23

Fun fact, the Milly Maker-winning lineup on Fanduel had Joe Flacco as the starting QB. Crazy right? Flacco completed 24 of his 39 passes against the Dolphins. He finished with 291 yards and two touchdowns. I am well aware Flacco’s time is limited as the Jets starting QB but why should that stop us from using him in the short term?

Trey Lance SF v MIN(24th)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$20)

Can you feel it? I sure as hell do! Jimmy G and the 49ers have played well. Jimmy G has also done a great job managing the last few games. In no way do I believe that Trey Lance will assume starting quarterback duties any time soon, but San Francisco is 5-5 right now and currently 3rd in the NFC West. I could see them start to push the envelope and take risks. If Lance is healthy enough to play why wouldn’t they mix him into game action?

Josh Johnson NYJ @ HOU(25th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$4,700)

Moments after I had published Bottom of the Barrel in Week 12 it was released Jet’s quarterback Joe Flacco had been placed on the COVID-IR. The Jets likely should call up Josh Johnson to the active roster. Seems like a lot of moving and shaking to me. Now, the decision, and duty, of Bottom of the Barrel is out of my hands. Do the New York Jets give the start to Zack Wilson? Or play it safe with Josh Johnson? Last time out Josh threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in relief duty of Mike White. If Johnson is indeed the starter in Week 12 I am absolutely considering him on all formats!

RUNNING BACK

Jonathan Taylor IND v TB(8th)(FD-$9,800)(DK-$9,100)(Y!-$37)

Unbelievable performance from JT in Week 11. I am aware this is a daily fantasy sports article, but I just want to let folks know Taylor is MY 1.01 right now and obviously in the 2022 season! In JT I trust!

As we turn our attention to Week 12, and Christmas, the running back position will start to turn even uglier than it is now. Aside from the handful of stud running backs, we are left pulling names out of a hat. Let’s dig in! Here’s my hat.

Melvin Gordon III DEN v LAC(29th)(FD-$6,300)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$19)

The Denver Broncos were on their BYE in Week 11. Regardless, I would imagine in Week 12 we will be given the same old shared workload story. Melvin and rookie Javonte Williams will face a Chargers D/ST currently giving up the fourth-most points to opposing running backs. Let’s stack them both!

Miles Sanders PHI @ NYG(27th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$5,100)(Y!-$17)

Miles Sanders rushed 16 times for 94 yards in Week 11. Aside from the lost fumble, I would consider his return to the active roster a success. However, I do have good and bad news. The good, Sanders averaged 5.9 yards per attempt in his return. The bad, his fumble landed him in the doghouse where Jordan Howard did well, averaging 6.3 yards per attempt. Howard did leave the game with a knee injury, so I am fully expecting Miles to retain, and flourish, as the Eagles RB1 in Week 11 against the Giants.

Damien Harries NE v TEN(4th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$6,100)(Y!-$19)

Upon returning from a concussion Damien Harris rushed 10 times for 56 yards Thursday night. When I was looking over this Week 12 slate both Harris and Stevenson came to mind. The whole player combo and duo idea this week started with these two. Looking back at last Thursday, Harris averaged 5.6 yards per attempt and Stevenson averaged 5.8 yards per attempt. Last I looked there is no official rulebook about building DFS lines. Therefore, I am stacking both Patriots RBs in Week 12.

Rhamondre Stevenson NE v TEN(4th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$19)

Rhamondre Stevenson rushed 12 times for 69 yards on Thursday as the Patriots beat Atlanta. Stevenson has obviously earned himself a robust amount of work per week. I have the rookie for around 12 attempts Sunday along with 2 or 3 targets.

Mike Davis ATL @ JAX(15th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$11)

Remember when we were kids the move around our friends was to make fun of ourselves first that way others wouldn’t burn you as bad? No? Just me? Regardless, that’s what I am doing. Atlanta was awful on Thursday. They scored zero points. Davis only had 3 carries for one yard. That was rock bottom for them this season, right? If you agree then Week 12 should be better!

Javonte Williams DEN v LAC(29th)(FD-$5,700)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$20)

Rookie running back Javonte Williams will continue to split work with Melvin Gordon III but it’s not as awful as folks make it seem. Everything we do is a matter of perspective! Hence then mention in Bottom of the Barrel. While most DFS players fade due to the split I think we should stack both Denver RB’s seeing how the Chargers D/ST currently giving up the fourth-most points to opposing running backs.

Rex Burkhead HOU v NYJ(32nd)(FD-$5,700)(DK-$4,200)(Y!-$14)

Texans’ RB Rex Burkhead rushed 18 times for 40 yards Sunday against the Titans. Burkhead only averaged 2.2 yards per touch. Not good but the volume he should see in Week 12 cannot be dismissed. I would expect another sizable workload for Rex and given the match-up let’s take a swing.

David Johnson HOU v NYJ(32nd)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,500)(Y!-$13)

Houston RB David Johnson rushed 13 times for 18 yards while catching 3-of-4 targets for 16 yards Sunday. Much like teammate Rex Burkhead, David received a nice amount of work leading to nothing. Fair enough but once again looking ahead to the contest with the Jet’s I have an odd desire to roster both Rex and DJ. The first step is admitting we have a problem. In Week 12 I may have a problem.

Jeff Wilson Jr. SF v MIN(22nd)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$17)

I spent Sunday night and Monday looking around at folks who had shared photos of their DFS lines. Jeff Wilson Jr’s ownership was exactly as predicted, high. From the causal DFS players to the full-time players, everybody rostered Jeff. Wilson Jr. rushed 19 times for only 50 yards and caught one pass for eight yards. Was not at all the smash spot folks had predicted. Jeff’s fantasy value is tied to Elijah Mitchell’s health. Who is considered day-to-day with a finger injury?

WIDE RECEIVER

Cooper Kupp LAR @ GB(7th)(FD-$9,500)(DK-$9,600)(Y!-$36)

We all know what Cooper Kupp has done so far this season. We also know what he will continue to do this season. His price tag as the most expensive wide receiver is well warranted.

For a second straight week, my personal plan of attack is with the wide receivers. As you scroll through you will notice the names start to fall off halfway through. I firmly believe if we roster the right stud running backs in Week 12 several of the wide-outs in Bottom of the Barrel should put you over the edge for big-time cash!

Elijah Moore NYJ @ HOU(25th)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$21)

Elijah Moore’s price tag is a tad high for Bottom of the Barrel, but I am allowed to do as I please with it! Jokes aside, Elijah has finally started to assert himself as the team’s WR1. In Week 11 Moore led all Jets’ receivers with 11 targets. He caught eight passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. Including a 62-yard touchdown. The match-up here in Houston is just too good to be true.

Brandon Aiyuk SF v MIN(30th)(FD-$6,300)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$17)

San Francisco wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk caught 7-of-7 targets for 85 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Jaguars. Is Aiyuk back? If so, took him long enough! This offense has clearly run through Deebo Samuel but if the combo can both start to carve out heavy yardage totals look out! The Viking’s pass defense is ripe for the picking too!

Tee Higgins CIN v PIT(24th)(FD-$6,200)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$16)

Cincinnati wide receiver Tee Higgins only caught 2-of-3 targets for 15 yards against the Raiders in Week 11. To be fair the Bengals leaned on Joe Mixon big time in this one. For that reason, the idea of Tee Higgins in Week 12 is even more appetizing. As the season progresses, we need to do everything in our power to find an edge. Leaving no stone unturned. Meaning, Tee had a quiet Week 11 maybe throwing people off him this week. Lock and load Tee Higgins against the Steelers!

Corey Davis NYJ @ HOU(25th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$16)

Corey saw seven targets, which was second among all Jets’ players. However, he struggled with finding a rhythm only catching three of his targets for 35 yards. The silver lining here is the fact Flacco looked his way. Nothing is clear as of now with the Jet’s starting QB in Week 12. Is it Wilson? Is it Flacco? Unpopular opinion here but either way I’m rolling with Davis and Crowder.

Jamison Crowder NYJ @ HOU(25th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$15)

Crowder was fantastic in Week 11. He finished with six receptions on seven targets for 44 yards and a touchdown. Well, fantastic to those of us who watched closely! Much like Corey Davis and Elijah Moore I have no issue rostering anyone of them. Maybe all three?!

Odell Beckham Jr. LAR @ GB(7th)(FD-$5,800)(5,000)(Y!-$15)

I wanted to paint a picture here of the dust settling and the hype having been extinguished. Literally, no way to spin that. In his first game with the Rams, he only played 15 snaps which were understandable. Having a full two weeks with the Rams I would imagine Week 12 in Green Bay will look a lot different for him. I have Odell around eight or nine targets on a significantly high snap percentage. I could also see a case where McVay and Stafford make it a point to get Odell heavily involved. Just a feeling, albeit of the cookie-cutter variation, but his price tag is as low as I can ever remember. Take the chance.

Kendrick Bourne NE v TEN(32nd)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$20)

Kendrick snagged all four of his targets for 42 yards on Thursday night. For the second straight week, Bourne has led the Patriots in receiving yards. There is obvious chemistry between him and Mac Jones. As far as Week 12 goes for Bourne and the Pats look like Christmas has come early.

Russell Gage ATL @ JAX(23rd)(FD-$5,700)(DK-$5,100)(Y!-$13)

Russell’s season has been a textbook entry on why DFS is an outstanding format for football. Rostering Gage has been as topsy-turvy as it gets in seasonal formats. Making him the perfect plug and play week-to-week based on matchups. In Week 11 Gage saw eight targets. Didn’t do much with them but it’s still nice to see ahead of a contest in Jacksonville. I would like to think the Falcons do a little bit more than zero points in this one.

Jakobi Meyers NE v TEN(32nd)(FD-$5,700)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$19)

If you haven’t noticed by now, I am trying to assemble different combo stacks for our DFS rosters in Week 12. In some cases, a trio! That’s exactly what we have here. In Week 11 Meyers led the team in targets but it didn’t translate into production. So far, this week, the buzz has been about the Titans DST given the fact they have had 10 takeaways in their last five games. I’m not buying it here against the Patriots. I believe the trio of Mac, Bourne, and Meyers can find a lot of room to roam.

Olamide Zaccheaus ATL @ JAX(23rd)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$11)

Olamide Zaccheaus caught 3-of-4 targets for 23 yards in Week 11. Nothing that stands out and absolutely no reason to be excited but I’m just kicking the tires here on an Atlanta offense that I believe has hit rock bottom. Nowhere to go but up.

Robby Anderson CAR @ MIA(31st)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$16)

Robby Anderson caught 5-of-6 targets for only 30 yards in Week 11. Anderson now has nine catches over the last two games and a strong 12 targets. Those targets have only returned 67 total yards. As long as Cam is the quarterback, and the targets keep coming I am willing to take a chance on Robby in Week 12.

Van Jefferson Jr. LAR @ GB(7th)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$13)

Maybe I am nuts, but I am willing to share my every thought and idea in hopes someone can benefit. While my crazy only goes so far. Let me preface this by saying in no way am I telling you to fade Cooper Kupp this weekend and beyond. However, I will tell you to explore the idea of stacking both Van Jr. and Odell Jr. in Week 12. `

Chester Rogers TEN @ NE(5th)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$3,500)(Y!-$10)

Chester Rogers caught four of six targets for 41 yards in Week 11. As the season has progressed Rogers has continued to see a slight uptick in routes and targets. The Titans have continued to deal with injuries leading to more work for Chester. Julio Jones is on the IR. AJ Brown left the game last Sunday with a hang injury and a chest contusion.

Chris Conley HOU v NYJ(22nd)(FD-$5,200)(DK-$3,900)(Y!-$10)

Houston WR Chris Conley caught 4-of-5 targets for 37 yards on Sunday. The Houston Texans offense is an enigma. Which is infuriating for fantasy football purposes. On the other hand, it can be used to our benefit in DFS formats. Let’s start now in Week 11!

TIGHT END

George Kittle SF v MIN(3rd)(FD-$6,700)(DK-$6,400)(Y!-$24)

The NFL is just a better place when George Kittle is healthy and acting like a wild man! Kittle has now scored in three-straight contests and will look to keep the streak rolling for a fourth straight game against the Vikings on Sunday! I am an absolute sucker for a good streak.

As we look through the tight ends in Week 12 one thing is clear, we should punt the position. Hopefully, by now, you understand my sarcasm. I punt the position every week! Since it’s the holiday season hopefully these tight ends are in the giving mood!

Pat Freiermuth PIT @ CIN(18th)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$4,300)(Y!-$16)

Hopefully, you caught this on Sunday night but if not, let me remind you. Broadcaster Cris Collinsworth mentioned how often Pat Freiermuth and Ben Roethlisberger work together. Last week when Ben was away from the team on the COVID IR he would attend meetings virtually and even hang after to talk with Pat. What I’m getting at is the fact that there is a huge connection between the two. The results have been clear and on full display.

Jared Cook LAC @ DEN(1st)(FD-$5,000)(DK-$3,000)(Y!-$10)

Simply put, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is a bonafide stud, and every week he just morphs and shows more. Given the difficulty at hand, the Denver Broncos, there is no way I am going to ignore Cook and Parham Jr. based on the DvP here. Herbert can extend plays single handily as the coverage breaks down. Cook is very much in play here.

Josiah Deguara GB v LAR(20th)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$2,600)(Y!-$10)

It’s such an Aaron Rodgers thing to make something out of nothing with a tight end. Green Bay and Aaron have been doing it for years. Hell, they did it last year with Robert Tonyan.

Ryan Griffin NYJ @ HOU(28th)(FD-$4,800)(DK-$2,600)(Y!-$12)

I have always been able to keep a secret or keep the excitement to myself. I know a lot a few people who buy gifts for their family and friends and just wind up spilling the beans. It’s like a keg of excitement that can’t keep in! Why do you care? Well, I waited until the end of the article to tell how excited I am to stack this game. Yes, the New York Jets at the Houston Texans!

Donald Parham Jr. LAC @ DEN(1st)(FD-$4,700)(DK-$2,700)(Y!-$10)

Parham Jr. caught four of his five targets for 38 yards Sunday night. The kid was so close to a touchdown, but the ball bonked right off his hands. Anytime the Chargers are in the red zone he is a treat to score. Well, if Austin Ekeler says he can.

Pharaoh Brown HOU v NYJ(21st)(FD-$4,500)(DK-$2,800)(Y!-$10)

Houston TE Pharaoh Brown caught 2-of-4 targets for 10 yards in Week 11. Just hoping for a touchdown reception here. It is Thanksgiving and all. If it happens let’s give thanks.

That it is! Bottom of the Barrel for Week 12 of the NFL season!
