Bottom of the Barrel Week 13 Running Backs NFL DFS Breakdown

November 30, 2022

Tis the season as folks say. After Thanksgiving we are on the fast track to Christmas! All the warm and fuzzies start to hit us. All the good will to men starts being discussed. What about the friends we make with likeminded folks! Once or twice a year Michael Reedy from the Undroppables and I do a little cross over DFS article event! Week 13 it is! A lot of good games and player matchups to exploit!

Let’s dig into Week 13 Bottom of the Barrel!

I’ll get into all the details after a quick note about our new membership options! 😺

Running Backs

Nick Chubb CLE @ HOU(32nd)(FD-$9,600)(DK-$8,000)(Y!-$34)

Holy smokes, this is going to be good! One of, if not, the best running backs in football against this softest rush defense on earth! We will leave it at that. I won’t waste your time with this one. Nick Chubb is about to break the slate as I have him around 20+ carries, 110 yards, two or three receptions for an additional 20 yards. Mind you, these are light numbers. Floor projections in my book. The bet here is how many touchdowns will Nick score? How many will Kareem Hunt nab? Chubb is such a sure thing this week I think his ownership percentages will be drastically lower than you think. The mind of a DFS player may think fading Chubb is the move based on projected ownerships. That whole being too smart for your own good thing.

Dameon Pierce HOU vs. CLE(31st)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$5,900)(Y!-$19)

Back-to-back weeks of literally nothing from Mr. Pierce. For the second straight week the Texans fell behind super-fast! Normally a negative game script in DFS terms can be flipped into a positive thing. Well, that was a huge failure! Pierce is still getting in his work and 20 total touches the last two weeks. I am not worried about the fantasy points and DFS goodness Dameon will or will not provide us. In an odd way after the last few weeks folks have already tossed him aside! Let’s stay the course here, at home, against an awfully soft Browns DST. He should be good for around 16-17 carries, 80+ yards, and 3 to 4 receptions for another 20 yards.

Dameon Pierce

The last two weeks Pierce has been horrible. But those were against two top ten defenses against the run. In week 13 he is playing against the Browns. The Browns give up the second most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. Running backs average 166 yards and a touchdown weekly against this defense. Even Eric Igold had a double-digit fantasy day against the Browns. Who is Eric Ingold you ask, my answer is exactly. Pierce will right the ship in an easy match up this week.

D’Andre Swift DET vs. JAX(15th)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$14)

Is time to face the fact that Swift isn’t that stud workhorse RB1? Truth be told, that’s not a bad thing! Given his propensity for being in and out of the lineup hurt or sore I think this new role is perfect! Let fellow RB Jamaal Williams carry the ball 15+ times a game while Swift sees his 6 to 7 rushing attempts. On a per touch basis D’Andre is electric! On a per target basis D’Andre is a star! Oh, and in the meantime his price tag stays low across the board as folks fade simply based on the “lack of work”. Fine by me especially this week against a Jaguars team giving up 21.09 points a game. The Detroit Lions are also scoring around 25 points per game. The scene is set for Detroit to hang 30+ points on Sunday and I am willing to bet Swift is responsible for 75 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.

JaMycal Hasty JAX @ DET(19th)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$14)

Darrell Henderson Jr. JAX @ DET(19th)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$11)

JaMycal Hasty was shockingly good after starting RB Travis Etienne Jr. hurt his foot in Week 12. Hasty carried the ball 12 times for 28 yards and caught five passes for 67 yards and a touchdown! As it stands now Travis has been able to practice this week albeit walkthrough type stuff but as their franchise guy, Jacksonville would be wise to let the kid chill and fully heal. If that is the case, I absolutely love JaMycal in DFS formats on Sunday. However, if Etienne Jr. does sit the Jaguars may look to get Darrell Henderson Jr. more involved as well. I have Hasty around 5-6 carries, 25-30 yards, and several receptions for another 15 yards.

Antonio Gibson WSH @ NYG(20th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$16)

Brian Robinson WSH @ NYG(20th)(FD-$6,600)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$21)

Here we are again! Another week and another mention of the Commander guys! Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson Jr. are both beautiful plays given the opposing defense and game script I have created! It’s not a fairytale or fable just a fun little daydream! We all know Gibby hurt or tweaked his foot which was probably the reason why Antonio had fewer touches (12) than Brian Robinson Jr. (22) on Sunday. However, as a true-blue reader of this article you know I have hammered home this combo all year! If we take out Heinicke, McLaurin, and Samuel this Washington offense is heavily favored towards these two running backs. I have some ambitious projections for each guy! Gibson around 10-11 carries, 50 yards, 3-4 receptions, and 25 yards. When it comes to B-Rob Jr. we’re looking at 14-15 carries, 65-70 yards, and a few catches for about 8 to 10 yards. Washington is streaking right now while the Giants have hit a little skid. I am expecting the Commanders, led by Gibby & B-Rob, to come out hot!

Zonovan Knight NYJ @ MIN(21st)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$15)

Week 12 is the week of the back up! Could make for a cool movie! Like a Hitchcock themed flick! Jets RB Michael Carter went down with an ankle injury and Zonovan Knight took over and rushed for 69 yards on 14 carries and caught 3 passes for 34 yards! In a somewhat shocking move, the Jets also made James Robinson a healthy scratch and after Week 12 Knight has taken his roster spot! New York’s head coach Robert Saleh wanted a spark and boy-oh-boy did he get one! Good or bad Knight will once again get all the work he can handle on Sunday in Minnesota. With Mike White at the helm all these Jets offensive skill positional players should be on your radar! File that under things I thought I’d never say! I am rooting for Zonovan, big time, as I expect around 11-12 carries, 45 yards, and 2-3 receptions for another 25 yards. If you’re feeling froggy let’s add an anytime touchdown bet to the mix for the rookie!

Kareem Hunt CLE @ HOU(32nd)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$18)

Weekly reminder to stack up the running backs playing against the Texans. At the top it’s Nick Chubb and down here it’s Kareem Hunt. Let’s be serious for a second there is a ton leverage to be gained with Hunt in our DFS lines on Sunday. Chubb will be owned an ungodly amount across all formats. The run back of Dameon Pierce will be over 12% owned across all formats. Leaving Hunt just ripe for the picking around, I’m guessing, 2.4-3.4% owned? I could see a case where folks don’t even bother with Hunt because they think there will be no leverage! The masses won’t bother just based on what a “sure thing” Kareem Hunt is. All while not saying it out loud leaving Hunt invisible and we can just sneak in and stack him up with the like of DPJ or even David Njoku! Nothing crazy but it’s a thought.

Kyren Williams

Williams played 70% of the Rams snaps in week 12. He led the team in rushing attempts with 11 and saw 3 targets which he turned in 3 receptions for 25 yards. The Rams want to see what they have in Williams. There isn’t a better time to do that than against the Seahawks. The Seahawks give up the third most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. In week 12 Josh Jacobs went nuclear on this defense and Ameer Abdullah still managed a double-digit fantasy day as well. Williams will Ram his way to yardage and fantasy points.
