Bottom of the Barrel Week 15

Social media is an odd place. Complete strangers like to place such unreasonable expectations on others. It creates all these imaginary hoops people think they must jump through. I understand the idea of wanting to give helpful advice or share life experiences.
Being compared to someone might be my least favorite thing. Most times my lowest point is being compared to someone else’s highlight reel. It just doesn’t add up. It certainly isn’t a boost of confidence. Most everything we have learned to be a respectful human beings we learned in kindergarten. Be kind, respect others, and treat others how you’d want to be treated.

Holy smokes! Can you believe it? Already Week 15! We are now closer to the Super Bowl than we are to the start of the season. If you have been around long enough then you know how unbelievably fast the 2021 season has flown by. Last spring and summer folks were going out of their minds waiting for football. Now, the season is in its last quarter.
Kyler Murray ARZ @ DET(11th)(FD-$8,800)(DK-$7,900)(Y!-$40)
Well, Arizona lost on Monday Night to the Rams. To be fair the Cardinals have coasted along this season. Aside from Kyler and Hopkins missing a few games they have been on easy street. After the loss to Los Angeles, they went from the number one seed to the third seed. Let’s see how they respond. I’d be willing to bet they hammer Detroit on Sunday.
As we turn out attention to the quarterbacks in Week 15 one thing is clear, I will be attacking the slate with cheap quarterbacks. There are a few sweet spots with Kyler and Aaron Rodgers but just a tad too expensive for Bottom of the Barrel. Let’s dig through the rest!
Tua Tagovailoa MIA v NYJ(25th)(FD-$7,400)(DK-$5,700)(Y!-$28)
Tua has been on an absolute tear his last five games. Tagovailoa is completing an off-the-charts high percentage of his passes and he now faces off against a Jets defense that could fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
Joe Burrow CIN @ DEN(5th)(FD-$7,300)(DK-$6,100)(Y!-$28)
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow completed 25-of-34 passes for 348 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday. A pair of scores to rookie Ja’Marr Chase and the Bengals were rolling only to lose in overtime! Still early in the week but some handicappers and professional sports betters are already calling this one for the Broncos. Why might you ask? That mile-high air, or lack thereof, along with the Bronco’s confidence as of late. Any way you slice it we are looking at a good game.
Russell Wilson SEA @ LAR(7th)(FD-$7,200)(DK-$6,400)(Y!-$28)
Russ completed 17-of-28 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday. This marks three games in a row for Wilson having tossed two touchdowns. I said it last week and I will say it again, I was wrong about Mr. Wilson. After that heinous Monday Night game against Washington Russell has turned it back on! I see no reason why he can’t find a few holes in a tough Rams defense here in Week 15.
Taylor Heinicke WSH @ PHI(20th)(FD-$6,900)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$27)
Taylor is currently questionable for this one in Philadelphia. Heinicke suffered the injury in Week 14 against the Cowboys. Adam Schefter notes that the team believes he’ll be able to start next Sunday against the Eagles. If Heinicke is a go then he warrants our attention. As the season draws to a close, I would fully expect Washington to do everything in their power to keep hold of a Wild Card spot. A team backed into a corner is a dangerous team!
Davis Mills HOU @ JAX(12th)(FD-$6,800)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$23)
I shared some photos of my Week 14 dynasty team’s starting roster late last week. I caught some heat because Davis Mills was my starting quarterback. I was in a pinch! Tons of injuries and COVID-IR had me in bad shape. Guess what? Mills went on to complete 33-of-49 passing attempts for 331 yards and a touchdown! Who would have thought! Now we’re in a spot where it’s Houston vs. Jacksonville. I mean, wow, could it get any worse? For Bottom of the Barrel, it’s a sweet spot! Jaguars were shut out in Week 14. Texans shut out in Week 13. We are in for a treat here in Week 15!
Jimmy Garoppolo SF v ATL(31st)(FD-$6,700)(DK-$5,800)(Y!-$29)
San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed 27-of-41 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday. Look, Jimmy has been mentioned in Bottom of the Barrel several times as of late. Currently holding onto a Wild Card spot I’d expect the 49ers and Jimmy to go berserk in this late-season dream match-up!
Ben Roethlisberger PIT v TEN(28th)(FD-$6,600)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$27)
Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 28-of-40 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns in Week 14. Think it’s time we bring back “Big Ben” after his recent stretch of games. Big Ben has three top-10 fantasy finishes over the last four games! I know it’s not wise to count your chickens before they hatch but look at this match-up, c’mon! Count it!
Matt Ryan ATL @ SF(23rd)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$23)
Matt completed 19-of-28 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown last week as the Falcons beat Carolina. Look, fantasy football aside, the Falcons have shown some grit and have been a tough out. As it stands now Atlanta is still in the hunt for a Wild Card spot. At 6-7, they share the same record as New Orleans, Philly, Minnesota, and Washington. While San Francisco is one game ahead at 7-6. This one here has some massive playoff implications.
Gardner Minshew II PHI v WSH(32nd)(FD-$6,200)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$30)
Just in case Jalen Hurts doesn’t play in Week 15. Another too good to be a true match-up for any Philly quarterback.
Najee Harris PIT v TEN(2nd)(FD-$8,800)(DK-$7,800)(Y!-$25)
Pittsburgh rookie running back Najee Harris carried the ball 20 times for 94 yards and a touchdown while catching three passes for 10 yards and another touchdown. If you’re plugged in on social media, then I am sure you know what I am going to say. There have been a few games this season where Harris has lacked volume thus creating this odd narrative. Personally, really no way you can put this kid down. I’d imagine all bad vibes are coming from folks who are miserable, to begin with. Good match-up or bad match-up Najee Harris is always in play!
The state of running backs in Week 15 has gone from grim to a little sunny. Maybe I am predisposed to always thinking from a GPP perspective but there are a few running backs I am excited about. Here is my list for Week 15!
Rashaad Penny SEA @ LAR(12th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$15)
So far so good! Sooner rather than later! It only took four years, right? Is this finally Penny’s time? I could go on and on! Penny went nuts for 137 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns last week. Que the John Cena theme, “Your time is up my time is now! You can’t see me my time is now!” Given the breakout, kind of, in Week 15 I would imagine Penny sees the bulk of backfield work. The excitement surrounding his Week 14 may add to ownership percentages but hey, who cares? Everybody loves a feel-good breakout story!
Chuba Hubbard CAR @ BUF(13th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,700)(Y!-$16)
Chuba Hubbard rushed 10 times for 33 yards and a touchdown in Week 14. Chuba was not targeted in the passing game while Ameer Abdullah saw most of, if not all, of the passing down work. On a lighter note, don’t think Cam Newton will be around to steal goal-line work anymore. Some local Carolina beat writers seem to think Sam Darnold will be given another shot. Gross situation.
Devonta Freeman BAL v GB(10th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$18)
Baltimore running back Devonta Freeman carried the ball 13 times for 64 yards and added eight yards on five catches. The only bummer was the thievery was that of Latavius Murray and his 1-yard touchdown. Regardless, this backfield belongs to Freeman. While Green Bay is allowing the 10th-fewest yards per carrying to-backs this year, I don’t mind seeing how Freeman has volume on his side.
D’Onta Foreman TEN @ PIT(26th)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$18)
Remember this time last week when people were arguing Dontrell Hilliard over D’Onta Foreman? To be fair both were mentioned in Bottom of the Barrel last week. As the week progressed it became clearer that D’Onta was the better option. One was held to only 13 yards while the other had 47 yards and a touchdown. Look, Foreman wasn’t the runaway winner of the two but it’s clear which back the Titans prefer. Don’t make the same mistake again in Week 15.
Jeff Wilson SF v ATL(24th)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$17)
San Francisco running back Jeff Wilson Jr. carried the ball 13 times for 56 yards. Leading up to their match-up in Week 14 Jeff seemed to be a slam dunk. Nope. The only reason to consider Wilson in Week 15 is if Elijah Mitchell is inactive once again. As it stands now Eli should put in the work and get the start. However, it is Week 15, anything goes.
Tony Pollard DAL @ NYG(25th)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,800)(Y!-$17)
Tony is questionable. Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy ‘feeling a lot better’ about RB Tony Pollard’s foot ahead of Week 15 against the New York Giants. As the week progresses, we should get a clearer picture. It’s a sweet match-up, to say the least. If active I fully expect Dallas, and Tony, to go bananas.
Phillip Lindsay MIA v NYJ(32nd)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$16)
I hate wasting time, especially yours! As I was getting my notes together for B&B week 15 the COVID-IR news was dropping like crazy. Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed were added to said IR back-to-back. So, adding Phil here was a no-brainer. Moments after looking into Phil’s game logs and logging him in my notes, boom, he was also added to the COVID-IR. Now what?
Corey Clement DAL @ NYG(25th)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,300)(Y!-$12)
If Pollard is inactive on Sunday, then Corey is a nice lotto ticket seeing how I fully expect the Cowboys to dominate!
Devin Singletary BUF v CAR(2nd)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$11)
Bills back Devin Singletary rushed only four times for 52 yards against the Bucs. He also grabbed six of seven targets for 37 yards. Was mind-blowing to me that coach McDermott only gave out seven total rushing attempts to his running backs. That was then and this is now. If Zack Moss continues to be in street clothes, then I will continue to use Singletary. With the added stipulation of a few more targets in the passing game.
Devonate Booker NYG v DAL(3rd)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$10)
Devontae Booker rushed eight times for 56 yards and caught four of his five targets for 28 yards on Sunday. Booker has now received double-digit touches in back-to-back games. Not to sound like an ass but Booker looked better than lead back Saquon Barkley in Week 14. Booker averaged 7.0 yards a carry. Granted he saw 8 attempts’ to Saquons 16 but just an idea as we move on to Week 15.
J.D. McKissic WSH @ PHI(22nd)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$15)
Looking at J.D. McKissic in Week 15 has me all kinds of excited! JD has missed the last two games after resting and getting over a concussion. Just a little reminder to keep your eyes on practice reports out of Washington this week. The match-up is so sweet!
Duke Johnson MIA @ NYJ(32nd)(FD-$4,500)(DK-$4,000)(Y!-$15)
Well, everything I said about Phil Lindsay now applies here for Duke! Also, as awful as it sounds it’s just a process of elimination. From 4th string running back to lead back overnight. This is the exact reason why I created Bottom of the Barrel! To comb through all the noise for you!
Cooper Kupp LAR v SEA(7th)(FD-$9,000)(DK-$9,000)(Y!-$38)
“Cooper Kupp is the best wide receiver Matt Stafford has ever had the pleasure of working with” Do any of you remember the tweet from Monday evening? I do, masterfully sent out by Thomas Sullivan @Yfz84. Look, social media is a wild place. Some folks take it too seriously while others know the deal. Cooper Kupp is, in fact, a stud wide receiver. Is he the best Matthew Stafford has played with though? No comment. I’d prefer to keep reading all the arguments!
The beauty of not only DFS but the 2021 season is the fact that the wide receiver pool is so deep. The last few weeks I have been pulled in the direction of rostering cheap RB’s and spending up at the wide receiver spot. However, in Week 15 it’s an odd occurrence! Roster the cheapie RB’s and mix-and-match with the cheaper WR’s! Here’s who I’m looking at this week!
A.J. Brown TEN @ PIT(23rd)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$6,700)(Y!-$)
If I’m not mistaken AJB’s injured reserve was back-dated starting in Week 12. Meaning, he could be eligible to return here in Week 15. As it stands now I have yet to hear a peep on AJB’s actual status for Week 15. Just keep an eye on it and I will update as I see fit. Yet another sweet match-up. Fingers crossed!
Chase Claypool PIT v TEN(31st)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,900)(Y!-$22)
The Steelers played in Minnesota last Thursday Night. They lost but the ill-advised decisions made by Chase Claypool took center stage. Celebrating a first down late in the 4th quarter while trailing in the game was a bad look. After the game was final the next few days were nasty. Most sports shows went out of their way to mention Chase and even retired Steeler Ryan Clark went off! While I agree with Mr. Clark that has no bearing on my decision to recommend Claypool in Week 15. This is a kid is all kinds of talented and the DvP match-up is what dreams are made off! The kicker, Ben Roethlisberger has been hot as of late!
Jerry Jeudy DEN v CIN(19th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$16)
Jerry, Jerry, Jerry what are we going to do with you? On Sunday Jerry Jeudy caught five passes for only 47 yards. Furthermore, Jeudy hasn’t topped 77 receiving yards all season. Granted, in Week 14 it was an awful game script for Jerry seeing how Denver got up early against the Lions then let Javonte and Melvin Gordon have their fun. As crazy as it sounds the Broncos are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. Denver is 7-6 and shares the same record as Cincinnati, Buffalo, Cleveland, and Indianapolis. Nothing is off-limits at this time of the season. Jerry over 77 yards in Week 15! You heard it here first!
Russell Gage ATL @ SF(21st)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,800)(Y!-$17)
Falcons wideout Russell Gage caught 4-of-6 targets for 64 yards on Sunday. Russ has been an outstanding little piece all season for both seasonal teams and in DFS formats. However, last week against the Panthers it was tough sledding. Looking ahead to the 49ers you could say the same thing. Before we rush to judgment the 49ers have been bitten by the injury bug in their secondary. Given his price tag, Gage is worth the risk in Week 15.
Odell Beckham Jr. LAR v SEA(7th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$17)
Why hello there OBJ! Starting to make some noise with his new team! As I was typing out his blurb here news came down from NFL Insider Josina Anderson. She reports Rams WR Odell Beckham Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19.
Christian Kirk ARZ @ DET(13th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$16)
Arizona wideout Christian Kirk got loose for two big chunk plays, catching three balls for 86 yards. Looking ahead to Sunday against the Lions it’s a match made in heaven for DFS!
Julio Jones TEN @ PIT(23rd)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$17)
I wanted to take this time to mention how outstanding Julio has been throughout his time in NFL. He and AJ Green have long been my favorite wide receivers. I even have a rookie auto and jersey patch card of both AJ and Julio! Same draft class years back. As much as it pains me to say it’s over for Julio. Sure, he may have a good game here and there, but they are becoming fewer and far between. Long gone are the days of Julio being this massive fantasy stud.
DeVonta Smith PHI v WSH(30th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$6,100)(Y!-$21)
Fresh off their Week 14 bye DeVonta’s price tag came down $400 on Fanduel and $200 on Draftkings. Which is crazy to me! Also, it looks as though Jalen Hurts will return to the lineup in Week 15! Given the match-up, yet again, sliding Smith in our lines this week is too easy!
Michael Gallup DAL @ NYG(25th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$16)
Cowboys wideout Michael Gallup caught five passes for 60 yards on Sunday! This was his fourth straight game catching five or more passes! Gallup has come on strong as of late and as we turn our attention to Week 15, I am going to label Gallup a must-start in DFS formats!
Rondale Moore ARZ @ DET(13th)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$15)
Arizona fresh off a tough loss at home in Week 14 heading into Detroit seems to be a slam dunk, doesn’t it? Add in the speedster Rondale more and it couldn’t get much better!
Allen Lazard GB @ BAL(16th)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$4,000)(Y!-$16)
Green Bay WR Allen Lazard caught 6-of-7 targets for 75 yards and a touchdown in Week 14! He also had a 14-yard run! Perfect timing for those of us still hanging tight with DFS. In Week 15 the Pack heads to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. While Lamar left early last week it looks as though he has avoided a high ankle sprain and should play in Week 15. This is what we want in this one! Rodgers vs Jackson and all the surrounding pieces benefit! Including Lazard!
Nico Collins HOU @ JAX(22nd)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$3,500)(Y-$10)
Look, I am aware Houston stinks. I am also aware that they were shut down and shut out in Week 14. So, in a way, there is nowhere to go but up in this one with Jacksonville. Both teams are bad news but, in a way, I think it’s conducive to fantasy points! Let the rookie run free!
Braxton Berrios NYJ @ MIA(29th)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$3,300)(Y!-$14)
I hate to use injuries and/or bad situations to my advantage in the fantasy sports world but how else are we supposed to play? Especially this season! Rookie dynamo Elijah Moore is still inactive and, on the IR. In his place last week Braxton saw 10 total targets! If you look back through his game logs this is what he does. Let’s bet on Braxton to see another healthy target share against a Dolphins team decimated by the COVID-IR.
Kalif Raymond DET v ARZ(12th)(FD-$5,200)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$11)
Lions WR Kalif Raymond has been no stranger to Bottom of the Barrel or as a streaming option this season. In Week 14 Raymond saw five targets but did catch a touchdown! If this game goes how we think it goes who’s to say Goff won’t throw 40ish times? Lock and load with Kalif!
Check it all out here! https://teamriseorfall.com/subscribe-now/
George Kittle SF v ATL(18th)(FD-$7,800)(DK-$7,500)(Y!-$33)
Since Monday morning I was trying to think of a fun wrestling pun here with Kittle. Yet here we are, and I have nothing. “That’s the bottom line cause George Kittle said so!” No, doesn’t feel right. What about, “Finally George Kittle has come back to the top of the tight end rankings!” We are getting close, but I like, “STOP MY MUSIC, what I’d like to have now is to have all the ladies in the crowd stop and watch as I catch touchdowns so they can see what a real man looks like!” Ah, that’s the one!
As we dig into the rest of the tight ends it may seem light. Fair enough but make sure to double back and check out Bottom of the Barrel as the week progresses. So much more news to break and COVID news. As awful as it sounds we need to keep on top of it.
Noah Fant DEN v CIN(25th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$15)
Denver tight end Noah Fant caught all four of his targets for 51 yards. As awful as it sounds Fant leads the team in receiving yards. Sunday was just odd for several reasons. Denver got out quick and had no reason to throw. Just shoving Javonte and Melvin right down Lion’s throat. No worries as we look ahead to the Bengals who struggle to cover the TE position. Better days are ahead!
Dalton Schultz DAL @ NYG(16th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$17)
One good week, one bad week. Seems to be the case for most tight ends not named Kittle. I have always used this article to explore different game scripts and projections. I have a feeling the Cowboys really lay it on the Giants here in Week 15. Dalton makes for a nice last-minute addition to your DFS lines this week.
Albert Okwuegbunam DEN v CIN(25th)(FD-$5,200)(DK-$3,300)(Y!-$11)
Denver tight end Albert Okwuegbunam caught all five of his targets for 41 yards on Sunday. What I love most about this one was the fact Denver and Teddy were looking Albert’s way. Let’s say the Bengals defensive game plan involves Noah Fant? Picking up what I’m laying down?
Durham Smythe MIA v NYJ(26th)(FD-$4,700)(DK-$2,500)(Y!-$10)
Durham being added here was a late afternoon thing. After the Dolphins were absolutely hammered by positive COVID testing by the time this thing kicks off on Sunday it could realistically be a skeleton crew. Not in any way making light of it all but as they plan and prep, we have to do the same thing.
John Bates WSH @ PHI(32nd)(FD-$4,600)(DK-$3,000)(Y!-$10)
Unfortunately, Logan Thomas is done for the season with a torn ACL. Just stinks for him after having a career resurgence with Washington. However, as we look ahead to Week 15 and Washingtons’ match-up I’m telling you now to make it an absolute point to use John Bates. The Eagles are dead last in defending opposing TEs. Mr. Bates will find the endzone on Sunday.
James O’Shaughnessy JAX v HOU(22nd)(FD-$3,200)(DK-$2,300)(Y!-$11)
The toilet bowl that is Jacksonville and Houston has a few gems in it if you dig deep enough!
That it is! Bottom of the Barrel for Week 13S of the NFL season!
