Where is the disconnect? The lack of respect and lack of civility is downright criminal. I honestly believe people are mostly good, but others are all doom and gloom. Just looking to fight. Just looking to cause chaos. Those people are the most exhausting.
I am a firm believer that things happen how they are supposed to. Everything going on around us, good or bad, is exactly how it should be at this exact moment in time. Plus, we must understand the fact every one of us is different. More specifically, we all have different personalities. We have all developed differently. We are all built differently.
We are human. Humans make mistakes. I would just like to get to a point personally and professionally where I can fully express my thoughts and opinions to the best of my ability. In the meantime, now and forever, I am a work in progress.
Therapy session over! Let’s talk week two from a daily fantasy sports perspective!
In Bottom of the Barrel, I will continue to mention the most expensive player at each position. Helps put the other cheap plays into perspective.
Kyler Murray ARZ v MIN(8th)(FD-$8,700)(DK-$8,200)(Y!-$37)
Kyler was surgical and magnificent in week one. Looking ahead to this week, I’d bet on Murray filling up the box score again.
Here are my cheaper options at QB in week 2.
Matthew Stafford LAR @ IND(10th)(FD-$7,500)(DK-$6,400)(Y!-$32)
Stafford looked outstanding in his first start with the Rams! Indianapolis isn’t a plum match-up, but we all know Stafford is a gamer. As coach McVay gets more comfortable with his playbook, Stafford should be an absolute monster.
Kirk Cousins MIN @ ARZ(29th)(FD-$7,400)(DK-$6,200)(Y!-$30)
Here we are, yet again. Another 300+ yard passing game with multiple touchdowns for Kirk. Folks continue to doubt Cousins and all he does is produce. While the Cardinals defense is stingy, I would be fine with taking the risk in week two.
Ryan Tannehill TEN @ SEA(31st)(FD-$7,300)(DK-$6,300)(Y!-$30)
Understandably I wanted to fade Tannehill in week one. It was the right move given his slow start and lack of production. Long gone are the Legion of Boom days in Seattle. I could see a case where crowds of DFS players continue to fade Tannehill in week two. There is a path to having a little edge with Ryan in week two.
Mac Jones NE @ NYJ(20th)(FD-$6,800)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$27)
Mac’s price tag in week two is perfect! Week-to-week he’s going to improve and get better. Also, one of these weeks he’s going to blast off and smash DFS lineups. Looking ahead the New York Jet’s defense does not scare anyone. Please consider Mac Jones in week two.
Trey Lance SF @ PHI(23rd)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$25)
From a DFS perspective, this play could burn me and make me look silly. However, it could also be a genius move that no one saw coming. I would imagine the 49ers are chomping at the bit to get Lance in a QB full-time.
Tua Tagovailoa MIA v BUF(17th)(FD-$6,600)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$23)
A very risky play in week two, Tua does have the upside to set our lines apart from the crowd. I would imagine the match-up with Buffalo might scare some people off.
Justin Fields CHI v CIN(2nd)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$20)
We all assumed Justin would take over the QB1 role at some point this season. Around week four or five, right? Well, here we are, and Chicago is already clamoring for Justin Fields. Get ahead of it all in week two!
Christian McCaffrey CAR v NO(15th)(FD-$10,000)(DK-$9,900)(Y!-$37)
Just a running back one doing running back one stuff. Just be mindful of the price and high production needed to hit value.
Here are my cheaper RB options in week two!
Eli Mitchell SF @ PHI(23rd)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$19)
Raheem Mostert has chipped the cartilage in his knee. The 49ers will be placing him on IR where he will stay for about eight weeks. Elijah Mitchell should see a heavy workload in week two.
James Robinson JAX v DEN(25th)(FD-$5,500)DK-$6,400)(Y!-$17)
J-Rob will be mentioned in Bottom of the Barrel until he goes nuts. It’s an ego thing which I am aware of! Safe to say we’re all rooting for him!
Trey Sermon SF @ PHI(23rd)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$16)
We can’t deny the running-back success that follows the Shanahan name around. One week it’s player A the next week it’s player B. Wait, let me explain it another way. How many of you have played roulette at the casino? If red pops up ten in a row what’s your next move? My next move would be all in on black. I look at the 49er’s running backs the same way. Last week it was Mitchell in week two it should be Sermon.
Carlos Hyde JAX v DEN(25th)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$15)
Yuck! Hyde carried the ball nine times and caught two passes for 58 total yards. Now he’s stuck in this weird fantasy football purgatory. If I leave him out of the article and he does well then, I look foolish. If I add him and he does nothing I look foolish. So, what do we do with Carlos Hyde?
Nyheim Hines IND v LAR(32nd)(FD-$5,100)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$14)
Hines was targeted eight times in week one and I don’t see a reason why Nyheim will not be involved big time again in week two.
Kenny Gainwell PHI v SF(30th)(FD-$5,000)(DK-$4,000)(Y!-$14)
Kenny is now in the running back rotation! His value, right now, is tied to his passing down work. Which isn’t a bad thing!
Tony Pollard DAL @ LAC(28th)(FD-$4,800)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$14)
Zeke Elliott looked flat and stale in week one. Some folks are already moving on. Crazy I know but we daily fantasy sports players look for any edge we can! The match-up on Sunday vs the Chargers does have a few holes. Some of which Tony can exploit given the chance.
Larry Rountree III LAC v DAL(21st)(FD-$4,900)DK-$4,000)(Y!-$14)
I’m going out a limb here by saying Larry is now the RB2 in Los Angeles. Austin Ekeler is the lead back, but Larry is about to get a nice chunk of work on a week-to-week basis! His price tag is criminally low but will be going up after week two. Use Larry!
Tony Jones Jr. NO @ CAR(14th)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$11)
The Saints blew out Green Bay so there was a ton of rushing work to go around. Not to mention Winston looked outstanding! Too good to be true in a way, right? Could argue both sides but I’m settling in on another ten, or more, touches in Carolina this week.
James White NE @ NYJ(20th)(FD-$4,800)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$16)
James had over ten combined targets and touches. It’s going to be this way all season yet, no one is going to pay attention to Mr. White. He’s a safe floor kind of guy. He compliments your DFS rosters this week well.
DeAndre Hopkins ARZ v MIN(8th)(FD-$8,500)(DK-$8,000)(Y!-$35)
Were you on social media Sunday? Aside from the normal victory lapping and carrying on, a ton of people were showing love to D-Hop! Rightfully so.
Here are my cheaper WR options in week two!
DJ Chark Jr. JAX v DEN(25th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$18)
Well, here we are! Several folks warned me about omitting DJ in week one. I am humbled before you are asking forgiveness.
Brandon Aiyuk SF @ PHI(23rd)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$18)
When it comes to DFS it’s always about math and odds. Sometimes it’s about a process of elimination. Aiyuk gave us a goose egg in the week and a 0.0 in Detroit! No way that happens again in Philadelphia, right?
Chase Claypool PIT v LV(27th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$22)
I have recognized the wide receivers in Pittsburgh. Of the three, Juju, Claypool, and Johnson, I’m going to flock to the cheapest one every week. Simple as that!
Will Fuller V MIA v BUF(17th)(FD-$5,700)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$16)
This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for! It is the perfect situation! Will Fuller V is healthy, Will Fuller V is not suspended. What better time to roster him? There isn’t one!
Mike Williams LAC v DAL(21st)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$6,100)(Y!-$23)
Fresh off an outstanding week stat line, Mike Williams should be an unbelievable value in week two. Dare I say back-to-back weeks with a touchdown?
DeVonta Smith PHI v SF(30th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$21)
DeVonta is fast becoming one of my favorite DFS play every week. Well, there has only been one week but leave me be. The sheer volume this kid will continue to receive is awesome given his price across all platforms.
Tim Patrick DEN @ JAX(11th)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$17)
Not making light of the Jerry Jeudy injury but it does open a spot for someone to step up and take charge. Tim was an awesome addition to DFS circles last season. Patrick is up to the task.
Zach Pascal IND v LAR(32nd)(FD-$5,100)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$13)
Let’s be honest about Zach here. Who could have predicted a two-touchdown performance in week one? Not me! It would be silly not to take in what Carson Wentz did last week and listen to the way the wind is blowing. Moving forward, Pascal will be heavily involved in this offense.
Van Jefferson Jr. LAR @ IND(10th)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$3,500)(Y!-$13)
I know what you’re thinking. “Wow, Chris you’re just adding guys here that had exceptional week one performance to bottom of the Barrel Week 2 NFL DFS Breakdowns!” I agree with you, to a certain extent. The Bottom of the Barrel has been built on a foundation of blow-up games mixed with little to no expectations. Given Ram’s matchup, Sunday in Indianapolis Van could see another three or four targets. High upside targets too.
Cedric Wilson DAL @ LAC(28th)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$3,100)(Y!-$10)
The unfortunate injury to Michael Gallup has bumped Cedric to a slightly larger role. Well, you would think that. Given Mr. Wilson’s price tag we are just looking for one big play. Cedric is literally one big play waiting to happen! Take the chance in week two.
Darren Waller LV @ PIT(4th)(FD-$7,000)(DK-$7,600)(Y!-$22)
Talk about being inundated with targets. Waller was being force-fed targets. Darren Waller saw nineteen targets in week one. It’s a fantasy football player’s dream.
Here are my cheaper plays at TE in week two!
Juwan Johnson NO @ CAR(14th)(FD-$5,100)(DK-$3,600)(Y!-$13)
Color me impressed! “You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention!”
Tyler Conklin MIN @ ARZ(29th)(FD-$5,000)(DK-$3,200)(Y!-$10)
The Arizona Cardinals being bad at defending tight ends is like leaving cookies out for Santa. It’s a fun well-documented event. The only issue is the fact everybody knows.
Gerald Everett SEA v TEN(12th)(FD-$5,000(DK-$3,600)(Y!-$13)
The quest for double digits touchdowns at tight end this season is alive and well for Mr. Everett! One down nine to go!
Dalton Schultz DAL @ LAC(28th)(FD-$4,800)(DK-$3,300)(Y!-$13)
The Dallas Cowboys threw the ball fifty-eight times in week one. That’s crazy to me although, not out of the realm of possibility it becomes a regular thing. When punting the tight-end position in DFS formats it is a simple checklist. High passing volume? Check. Capable quarterback? Check. Cheaply priced player? Check
Tyler Kroft NYJ v NE(19th)(FD-$4,700)(DK-$2,900)(Y!-$10)
I am not living in la-la land. I am aware of the New York Jets pass-catching pecking order. After a five-target week one, I could see a case where this becomes the norm with Tyler.
Jack Doyle IND v LAR(32nd)(FD-$4,600)(DK-$3,100)(Y!-$10)
The bottom of the Barrel was built on strength of players like Jack Doyle. Just an under-the-radar pass-catching tight end who sees lots of red-zone looks.
Pharaoh Brown HOU @ CLE(3rd)(FD-$4,600)(DK-$2,900)(Y!-$10)
Pharaoh played fifty-nine snaps on offense (76 percent) which is shocking given his overall usage since day one. Who knows if that continues but I would take a shot it does in week two!
Adam Trautman NO @ CAR(14th)(FD-$4,500)(DK-$3,000)(Y!-$12)
Adam led the Saints in targets in week one. Mind-blowing! Winston looked strong and the Saints looked good! The New Orleans Saints offense looks completely different but why question it? Adam will be mentioned here week in and week out if his price is never adjusted.
That is, it! Did I miss someone? Any questions or comments?
