Poof! Just like that, it is week three of the NFL season!
Bottom of the Barrel week 3
Poof! Just like that, it is week three of the NFL season!
Normally Bottom of the Barrel has this massively large opening statement! Mixing in philosophy with some life lessons. The arrogance of the creator here is off the charts! Who does he think he is?
All jokes aside, when sitting down to construct this week’s article I wanted to focus on the player blurbs more. That is, in essence, the magic of Bottom of the Barrel!
Kyler Murray ARZ @ JAX(22nd)(FD-$9,000)(DK-$8,300)(Y!-$39)
Give the kid his due! Kyler has been spectacular in his first two starts of the season. What’s even better is the fact he’s averaging well over thirty fantasy points a game! Awesome start!
Here are some bottom-of-the-barrel options at quarterback in week three!
Matthew Stafford LAR v TB(27th)(FD-$7,600)(DK-$6,400)(Y!-$36)
Stafford and the Rams are rolling! Sweet 2-0 start! Stafford is right on the cusp of being unattainable for Bottom of the Barrel purposes. Rightfully so! Matthew has made it clear, through his actions, he is a stud fantasy quarterback. Stafford is averaging 299 passing yards a game along with 2.5 touchdown passes in a contest. In week three the Rams host the 30th ranked pass defense of the Tampa Bay Bucs. Throw out all the fantasy stuff and enjoy this one! Tom Brady vs Matthew Stafford!
Justin Herbert LAC @ KC(6th)(FD-$7,500)(DK-$6,500)(Y!-$32)
My initial reaction is that of the movie Mean Girls and the word fetch. “Gretchen, stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen, it’s NOT going to happen!” Justin Herbert has been in this article both weeks of the NFL season so far. Have I forced Justin Herbert on you? To be fair, I don’t think so. “Hey Chris, stop trying to make ‘Herbs’ happen, it’s NOT going to happen!” That couldn’t be further from the truth! Herbs will happen! Herbs IS happening! Look for Justin and the Chargers to kick it up a notch Sunday in Kansas City.
Daniel Jones NYG v ATL(28th)(FD-$7,400)(DK-$5,800)(Y!-25)
The dual-threat Jones and his rushing yards are hard to ignore! Jokes aside, any big-time DFS player will tell you the upside of a rushing quarterback is hard to ignore in this format. Daniel Jones is third overall, right now, in rushing yardage for quarterbacks. The New York football Giants host the porous Atlanta Falcons defense in week three. Dare I say fifty yards and a touchdown on the ground for Danny in week three?
Derek Carr LV v MIA(8th)(FD-$7,200)(DK-$5,900)(Y!-$31)
Let’s keep this one short and sweet. The Vegas Raiders have been exciting to watch! Carr and his squad are 2-0 having beat the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers! Whatever the Raiders have going on right now I want in on! To make it more exciting they seem to be getting Henry Ruggs III creatively involved! Can Las Vegas start the season 3-0?
Ryan Tannehill TEN v IND(25)(FD-$7,000)(DK-$6,200)(Y!-$29)
Ryan’s first two games of the season have left a lot to be desired. This is fine given the play of Derrick Henry in week two. The Indianapolis Colts head to Nashville on Sunday with a few questions marks of their own at quarterback. Look for Tanny and the Titans to take advantage!
Derrick Henry TEN v IND(11th)(FD-$9,700)(DK-$8,600)(Y!-$35)
Week two was a vintage King Henry game! Over thirty carries, more than one hundred fifty yards, and three total touchdowns! With that performance last week Henry now leads the league in average rushing yards a game(120).
Here are my favorite cheaper options at running back in week three!
Saquon Barkley NYG v ATL(22nd)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$6,500)(Y!-$24)
This is unprecedented! A superstar running back falling below the Mendoza line and falling right into Bottom of the Barrel’s clutches. When do we get worried about Saquon? He’s more than welcome to set up shop here for the week. Long as he goes nuts in week three, we can say we knew him way back when! Back when he was in Bottom of the Barrel! I could see a scenario where a large portion of folks fades Barkley in week three. The overreaction folks have already been out full force. Let’s use that to our advantage!
Myles Gaskin MIA @ LV(28th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$18)
Miami abandoned the running game early on in week two. Not good news for Gaskins yet, this is the beauty of daily fantasy sports! We are not married to the same team and same players all season! We can specifically pick and choose our team each week! I choose Myles! If Tua can’t play this week due to his rub injury you would have to downgrade the entire Miami offense right? Wrong! That rationale is just what we’re looking for in DFS formats! Low ownership and going against the grain!
Javonte Williams DEN v NYJ(23rd)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$20)
We are slowly seeing the rise of Javonte in the Denver backfield. He and Melvin Gordon had identical workloads on the ground last week. Yet, Williams put up more yardage. Javonte has been more effective and efficient with his touches. The running back power shift is happening here in Denver. You should have zero issues about getting the rookie in your lines this week.
Kenyan Drake LV v MIA(17th)(FD-$5,700)(Dk-$5,500)(Y!-$14)
The overall workload in the Vegas backfield did not shake out how we thought it would. Peyton Barber carried the ball seventeen times compared to Drake’s seven. Every week there is a new reason to get upset and frustrated with head coaches. Josh Jacobs is listed as, “very questionable” for week three with an ankle and toe injury. Keep your eyes out in terms of Jacob’s availability this coming week.
Jamaal Williams DET v BAL(29th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,100)(Y!-$19)
This might seem shocking, but the Detroit Lions offense has not been as bad as folks thought it would be. Jared Goff has looked like a solid NFL quarterback. Meaning, the running backs in this Lions offense are very much in play week-to-week. Jamaal couldn’t get much going Monday night in Green Bay but in week three it’ll be a totally different story!
Latavius Murray BAL @ DET(27th)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$16)
My comments from the Sunday Night Football DFS video will carry over into week three with the Ravens running backs. Will it be Murray? Will it be Ty’Son? Let me make the decision for you! Whichever runner is cheaper that’s the one you lock-in! Ty’son (FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,800)(Y!-$18). Both men should see a fair amount of work in Detroit but I’m rolling with Murray and his cheaper price tag.
Devonte Booker NYG v ATL(22nd)(FD-$5,100)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$11)
Bottom of the Barrel has been around for a few years now. This season marks eight years. Odd way to start the Devonte Bookers blurb, I am aware. In the history of B&B, I have yet to mention two New York running backs in the same week. Let me explain! The Atlanta Falcons are 24th overall defending opposing running backs. Sounds like a risky move to double down on both New York ball carriers. Personally speaking, I think it’s sneaky good!
Ronald Jones II TB @ LAR(21st)(FD-$5,000)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$15)
Professional football head coaches do not care about our fantasy teams. Case in point Bruce Arians in Tampa Bay. There is a positive here with Ronald Jones! After the negative point debacle in week one, Jones averaged a solid 4.5 YPC (yards per carry). So not all hope is lost! This showdown Los Angeles is going to be entertaining a chalked full of points. Aside from us, readers of Bottom of the Barrel, no one on earth will be on Ronald in week three. Perfect time to sneak one past!
Peyton Barber LV v MIA(17th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$4,300)(Y!-$13)
What is with the two double running back stacks this week? First the New York Giants guys now the Vegas Raiders? It’s simple, to be honest! We are just maximizing each team’s point implied total by hedging the efforts of the running backs. If Josh Jacobs is ultimately ruled out in week three lock and load both Raider running backs!
Tyreek Hill KC v LAR(2nd)(FD-$8,700)(DK-$8,400)(Y!-$33)
It is always nice to give credit where credit is due! Baltimore had a clear game plan to wipe out Tyreek Hill Sunday night. The Ravens made good on their execution. With Kansas City, it’s just strength in numbers. You stop Hill then Kelce will go nuts and so on and so forth. However, who thinks the Rams took notes and will look to do the same in week three?
Here are my favorite cheapie wide receivers in week three!
Michael Pittman Jr. IND @ TEN(31st)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$17)
Oh boy! Admittedly, Pittman Jr. has frustrated me through the first two weeks, for selfish reasons. Michael was mentioned here in week one, big-time dud. He was left out in week two, a big-time yardage game. So where does that leave him in week three? Well, he is in, but has me chasing him around like a lovesick puppy! I am embarrassed.
Kenny Golladay NYG v ATL(17th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$16)
Life is all about perspective. What someone considers awful the next will take as a sign. A negative situation can be used to your advantage with the right attitude. Kenny Golladay yelling on the sideline in week two is not as bad you think it is. The guy is passionate! The guy is fired up! Let’s use this emotion to our advantage in week three! Thoughts on a full-blown New York Giants stack? Jones, Saquon, Booker, and Kenny G? Oh boy!
Tyler Boyd CIN @ PIT(25th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$16)
True to form, Boyd had an under-the-radar nine target game in week two. The Chicago Bears made Joe Burrow look foolish last Sunday. Joe threw three interceptions and was sacked four times! Looking ahead, the Steelers are strong against the run but rank 29th overall defending the pass. I am predicting a double-digit target week for Boyd on Sunday.
Henry Ruggs III LV v MIA(8th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$12)
Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs caught five passes on seven targets for 113 yards and a touchdown. He also tied for the team lead in targets and receptions. Henry has seen twelve targets through two games while the Dolphins are allowing opposing wide receivers the seventh-highest point totals in DFS formats.
Rondale Moore ARZ @ JAX(16th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$18)
The connection between Moore and Murray is just getting started! Buckle up, sit back and enjoy the show, watch the fireworks, stop and smell the roses, and whatever other cliché you can think of! The Jaguars do not look too hot large in part due to head coaching stiff Urban Meyer. Rondale with another big-time touchdown in week three!
Donovan Peoples-Jones CLE v CHI(30th)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$3,000)(Y!-$10)
Speculative move based on the health of Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.
Zach Pascal IND @ TEN(31st)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$18)
Pascal has now scored three times the first two weeks of the season. While his price tag is not adjusting much. Looking ahead, the Titans have been below average against opposing wide receivers. Pascal should have no issue finding the end zone, yet again, on Sunday in week three.
Van Jefferson Jr. LAR v TB(32nd)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$3,400)(Y!-$14)
Cooper Kupp is the newly minted Rams stud wide receiver! Not trying to upset any of the Robert Woods fans but the first two weeks have been eye-opening from a pass-catching pecking order. Tampa Bay, at this moment in time, is ranked 30th overall against opposing wide receivers. The Bucs will spend so much time and effort trying to corral Kupp and Woods that Stafford will make them pay on a deep shot to Van!
Jalen Guyton LAC @ KC(10th)(FD-$4,700)(DK-$3,200)(Y!-$10)
I have put this off long enough. To my credit, it has been the right move. Guyton has seen minimal usage based on the talent around him. So far Kansas City has done a great job limiting big plays through the air. That all changes Sunday in KC! Count on a patented Guyton 50+ yard reception in week three!
Travis Kelce KC vs LAC(19th)(FD-$8,500)(DK-$8,200)(Y!-$31)
Stud. Keep it moving.
Here are my favorite lowly priced tight-ends in week three!
Hayden Hurst ATL @ NYG(24th)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$2,800)(Y!-$12)
No offense to Hurst but the tight-end landscape is a legitimate wasted land every week. Hurst is on the radar in week three strictly based on the match-up. The Giants are 25th overall defending the pass. Maybe we see Hayden catch three passes for fifteen yards with a touchdown. Wishful thinking but that’s how bad the tight-end tier breaks!
Cole Kmet CHI @ CLE(30th)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$3,200)(Y!-$14)
Not conventional but I need to get this off my chest, I am upset and angry with Kmet so far this season. Not so much Cole personally but the Chicago Bears and dummy head coach Matt Nagy. What is this guy doing? We are only two weeks into the season, but Chicago is headed down a long dark lonely road. Nagy keeps playing this quarterback game with Dalton and Fields. Always swapping them in and out. Neither one can settle in and get some meaningful reps. It’s bad news. I am fading Chicago Bears until further notice.
Jack Doyle IND @ TEN(32nd)(FD-$4,800)(DK-$3,400)(Y!-$11)
Scroll down and see Mo Alie-Cox! What if Jack catches a touchdown from fellow tight end Mo Alie?
Max Williams ARZ @ JAX(15th)(FD-$4,700)(DK-$3,700)(Y!-$12)
If you punt tight end as much as I do then only one thing matters, offense snap percentages! How often are these guys on the field? Williams saw eighty percent of the offensive snaps in week one while playing seventy-four percent of the offensive snaps in week two. Anytime a player can share the field with an up-and-coming superstar like Kyler Murray count me in!
Mo Alie-Cox IND @ TEN(32nd)(FD-$4,600)(DK-$2,600)(Y!-$10)
Would it be weird if I told you Mo Alie-Cox might throw a touchdown pass to his Colts tight end teammate Jack Doyle? Wild right?
Kyle Rudolph NYG v ATL(26th)(FD-$4,500)(DK-$3,000)(Y!-$10)
I have always had a thing for Kyle. He’s been my tight end punt de jour the last few seasons!
That is, it! Did I miss someone? Any questions or comments?
