Bottom of the Barrel Week 9 Running Backs NFL DFS Breakdown

Austin Ekeler LAC @ ATL(17^th)(FD-$9,400)(DK-$8,800)(Y!-$39)

I don’t know about you, but I still crack a big smile when I see Austin at the top of the RB list. From a personal standup Ekeler is a stand-up guy. Damn good at football and part of the fantasy football community! He is one of us! From a Week 9 point of view, we are in for a treat between the Falcons and Chargers. Let’s keep this simple, twenty total targets and touches for Austin along with 110 all-purpose yardage and at least one score. Smile, life is good!

Raheem Mostert MIA @ CHI(28^th)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$6,100)(Y!-$23)

What a great day so far! Trade after trade after trade! One of which sent Chase Edmonds to Denver, and we rejoiced for Mostert’s production! That was fun while it lasted cause right after the 49ers sent Jeff Wilson Jr. to Miami to eat into Raheem’s production. The up and down of fantasy football, right? The good thing is with the travel day, or time, I would expect Wilson Jr. to not be that involved on Sunday. If you also remember correctly, I had mentioned Mostert in last week’s article based on the Fins playing in Detroit. I wouldn’t call it a total bust but he left a lot to be desired. Shockingly, I do not know Raheem Mostert, but I have a feeling the Dolphins will give him ample opportunity to shine. In doing so I could see a case where Raheem wants to show his teammates and coaches, he is the guy! The funny thing here is the fact we very well may see Jeff Wilson Jr. mentioned in Bottom of the Barrel Week 10! For now, let’s roll with Raheem! Let’s expect 15 attempts, 70 yards, two receptions, and fifteen yards.

Tyler Allgeier ATL vs. LAC(31^st)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$15)

When it comes to DFS we must take the good with the bad. Or even take a risky shot. Case in point Tyler Allgeier this week against the Chargers. Unlike weeks past Tyler and even Caleb Huntley may be related to the bench with the return of Cordarrelle Paterson. See, good with the bad. Regardless of Patterson involvement or not this week I do believe Tyler is safe, to a certain extent. Allgeier rushed 14 times for 39 yards and caught all three of his targets for 46 yards and one touchdown. The Chargers are headed into Atlanta and are not very good against opposing RBs. I think most folks will just skip right over Tyler based on the assumption Patterson is supposed to return. It is a risk and huge leap, but I have Allgeier around 14 carries, 70 yards, and one or two receptions for another ten yards.

Antonio Gibson WSH vs. MIN(10^th)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$15)

The Vikings made a cool trade with the Lions on Tuesday but don’t let that distract you from the fact that Gibby has come on strong in the passing game! The Commanders have seemingly found a nice one-two punch with Robinson and Gibson! Minnesota defensive line is tough against RBs as you can see above(10^th). Yet against opposing WRs they are in the bottom half of the league(26^th). Last week against the Colts Gibby caught seven passes! Fellow RB, Robinson Jr., has hit a snag on the ground. As a rookie it’s to be expected so in the best-case scenario Gibby gets a few extra carries and continues to run route. With Heinicke starting at QB anything is possible!

Devin Singletary BUF @ NYJ(12^th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,700)(Y!-$16)

There is no earth-shattering news to share with Devin. I have no sneaky piece of information that gives us an edge with him. At the start of last week’s game, the Bills gave him the rock six times in their first two drives. Then it all went away! The issue was the pace of play and how quickly Buffalo got ahead. So, it a simple idea of game flow and can the opposing team hang with the Bills. In Week 9 I do believe the Jets will keep this one close! I have the Bills winning 28-24 so my hope here is a lot of clock killing type attempts in the 4^th quarter. I am expecting Devin to see around 15 carries, 60 yards, and three receptions for an additional 25 yards.

Michael Carter NYJ vs. BUF(5^th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$15)

This is a tough ask. The Bills are extremely stout up front against opposing running backs. So, what is my point here? Most people will say no way with Carter given the fact James Robinson should be used more having been with the team for a full week of practices. I find that both interesting and an area to leverage. Last week against the Patriots Carter only saw seven carries but he salvaged the day by catching four passes for 35 yards. Jets QB Zach Wilson has struggled with interceptions the last few games. If we know anything it’s the fact that New York is clearly trying to push their passing attack. Michael Carter can play a huge role in that idea! Zach Wilson attempted 41 passes last week and I think we see close to that this week. All I’m asking is that Carter sees a little piece of that pie!

Rachaad White TB vs. LAR(11^th)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$10)

Who would’ve thought 8 weeks into the NFL season that Tampa Bay would be 3-5 and the Rams would be 3-4? Not me! In addition to both offenses struggling to get any normalcy or rhythm going. The talent is there for Mr. White, but the workload and opportunity have yet to catch up. Rachaad carried the ball four times for 19 yards and caught three passes for 24 yards last Thursday. It’s tough to compare what he did against Fournette, but White did well and was more efficient than Lenny. Fournette’s saving grace was the fact he found the endzone. Anyway, you slice this game is an odd must-win for each team. Tampa falling to 3-6 or the Rams being 3-5 is not a good look heading into Week 10. For that fact I can see both teams pulling out all the stops to get over the hump and winning. Nothing is set in stone, but I am counting on Rachaad being more involved.
