Bottom of the Barrel Week 9 Tight End NFL DFS Breakdown
Just like that it is November! We are now on the fast track to Thanksgiving. We are also at the halfway point of the NFL season and there are a few things that have stood out. I am not going to comb through every single one of them but as you read Bottom of the Barrel for Week 9, I have carefully added them into the player blurbs.
I have made no secret of my availability to anyone on social media. Receiving direct messages is still an exciting idea to me. If I can ever help out, in any way, send me a message! Good luck this week!
I’ll get into all the details after a quick note about our new membership options! 😺
We recently added membership options for Individual Sports here at Rise or Fall. If you wanted to subscribe to NFL Monthly or NFL Weekly without access to any of the other sports you now have that option!

Zach Ertz ARZ vs. SEA(32nd)(FD-$6,600)(DK-$5,100)(Y!-$23)
The tight-end position has been an absolute wasteland this year. Thankfully, Zach has been a nice reliable source of points at position! Well, until DeAndre Hopkins made his return and totally clipped Zach’s wings! Let’s take the lack of targets the past two weeks as growing pains for Murray as he has all his offensive weapons back! The Seahawks have been no slouch as an overall football team, but they lack against the opposing TEs. Let’s count on 7 targets, 5 receptions, and a cool 50 yards from Zach on Sunday.
Hayden Hurst CIN vs. CAR(14th)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$3,600)(Y!-$15)
When we look at the overall landscape of tight ends Hayden isn’t this elite golden boy type player. However, Hurst gives us this rock-solid floor with a great presence in the red zone. On a young team loaded with speed and talent it is easy for us to gloss right off Hayden on a weekly basis. The opposing Panthers have put together an impressive, by Carolina standards, 2-1 record in their last three games. They have shown no timidness and they continue to take big swings on the field. I say all this to paint a picture of a competitive game all the way down the wire on Sunday. Meaning, Hurst could mess around and finish in the top-5 this week at the position. Let’s pull back the reigns and say 5 targets, 4 receptions, 40 yards, and a touchdown.
Evan Engram JAX vs. LV(30th)(FD-$5,200)(DK-$3,300)(Y!-$15)
Finally! It took some time, but Engram and Trevor Lawrence look to be on the same page! Evan scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 8 and has averaged about five receptions and 58 yards over the last four games. I love the idea of Engram finding the endzone once or twice this week against one the worst overall defenses in the league. Let’s follow the law of averages and put Evan around 6 targets, 5 receptions, 60 yards, and a touchdown!
Tyler Conklin NYJ vs. BUF(8th)(FD-$5,200)(DK-$3,200)(Y!-$11)
Can’t believe I’m about to say this but too bad Conklin and the Jets can’t play the Patriots every week! Tyler started out shockingly strong to the season then dipped then right back on the map last week. This coaching staff, to me, is smart enough to know what to do and who they have and how best to tie it all together. The opposing Buffalo Bills are no cake walk defensively but I do expect them to hang tough here, at home. Can never count on a defensive breakdown but we sure can have fun in a DFS article about it! Rarely do twist words or spin things to my advantage but I am going to take that luxury here. The Bill defense in their last three games have given up 364 total yards to Pittsburgh in Week 5, 387 yards in Week 6 to Kansas City, on bye in Week 7, and 398 yards to Green Bay in Week 8. Added up to 1,149 total yards their last 3 games. An average of 383 total yards a game. It’s not crazy to think to think Conklin could have a wildly good game at the Bills expense.
Dawson Knox BUF @ NYJ(16th)(FD-$5,100)(DK-$3,500)(Y!-$14)
It’s nice to see a guy finally play well and be repaid in touchdown receptions! Knox has scored in back-to-back games and the chemistry with Josh Allen deep down in the red zone is undeniable. The only issue is that’s all we get with Dawson. The definition of touchdown dependence also makes him boom or bust! I just cringed big time because I hate using those lame fantasy buzz words, but they fit so well here with Knox. At this point in the article given the player price tags I would be pissed if we weren’t reaching and taking shots with cheaply priced tight-ends with high upside value! Can Dawson Knox make it three games in a row with a touchdown catch? I will shake my magic 8-ball and get back to you!
Robert Tonyan GB @ DET(28th)(FD-$5,000)(DK-$3,800)(Y-$16)
Will make this one quick, promise! Big Rob Ton is in play just given the opposing team defense. The Detroit Lions are allowing the fifth most points per game to tight ends. There is just no way Tonyan doesn’t score a touchdown Sunday in Detroit. Any sort of NFL parlay you have going this weekend toss in a Robert Tonyan anytime touchdown to boost up the odds. Rarely do I say this but, it is a sure thing!
If you missed any of the other B&B skill positions for Week 9 look no further! Thats it for Week 9! Good luck and enjoy it all!
