DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Guide 8/11/20

DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Guide 8/11/20

Tuesday’s NBA slate features seven games and much like yesterday should provide us with lots of interesting decisions to make.  Teams are starting to get mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, such as the Pelicans for example.  They’ve already announced that all of Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and Jrue Holiday will sit out Tuesday resulting in lots of shots for others on the Pels’ roster.  We’ll also see some more load management around the league on Tuesday.  James Harden has already been announced out by the Rockets, meaning Russell Westbrook should be an extremely high owned option in most contests today.  Much like yesterday it will be important to keep an eye out for any late lineup news throughout the day.

Point Guard

Pay Up

Ricky Rubio ($6,600) – Yesterday we saw the Suns continue their undefeated run in the bubble as they decimated the Thunder.  Today they draw a 76er’s team that’s banged up and underperforming and I honestly expect that Suns to win again.  Last time out vs. the Sixers, Rubio went for 21 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds.  I think he’s in for more of the same in today’s matchup.

Damian Lillard ($9,800) – I try not to outline too many players but I have to talk about Dame a little today.  Two days ago we saw Lillard erupt for 51 points on 16-28 shooting.  He played 40 out of 48 minutes.  As the Blazers look to take the final playoff spot in the West, look for Lillard to be ultra aggressive again today.  The minutes and floor are certainly there, and I actually prefer paying up for him over his counterpart in Luka Doncic.

Other Option: Dejounte Murray ($6,200)

Value

Austin Rivers ($4,100) – Surely to be a chalky play today, Rivers is in line to play significant minutes once again with James Harden sidelined.  Coming off his career high in points last time out, Rivers was good for a 41 point, 6 rebound, 4 assist line.  He also chipped in a couple steals and totaled a whopping 60 DKFP.  The shots will be there again tonight for him, and with a true shooter like Rivers I’ll ride the hot hand.

Other Option: Corey Joseph ($3,700)

Shooting Guard

Pay Up

Devin Booker ($8,800) – Rise, wash, repeat.  There really isn’t much else to it for me when it comes to playing Bubble Booker right now.  The Suns are fighting for that last playoff spot and are in another must win game again today.  Booker is one of the only studs on the slate we know will play regular minutes (barring a blowout) and in this undefeated stretch the Suns are on is averaging just over 45 DraftKings points per game.

Value

J.J. Redick ($4,300) – As touched on before, the core of the Pelicans will be resting today.  Redick should get a boost into the starting lineup as a result of that, where this year has averaged 16 PPG on 44.7% shooting from three.  He also had dual-position eligibility if you’re looking to plug him in at Small Forward instead.

Small Forward

Pay Up

DeMar DeRozan ($8,000) – Derrick White’s status is up in the air today for the Spurs.  DeRozan should be in line to play big minutes again and draws a favorable matchup in the Rockets, but you never really know what Popovich will do with his rotations.  There aren’t many other studs I feel comfortable paying up for today at the SF position with minutes so up in the air.  In fact, it’s a position I actually love for some value plays as I’ll touch on below.

Value

Matisse Thybulle ($3,200) Who’s going to play for Philly today?  With Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Josh Richardson ruled out, and Tobias Harris and Al Horford questionable, there will be plenty of minutes to fill today.  With Harris and Richardson on the court last game, Thybulle still played 33 minutes.  He’s in line for big minutes again today and although he’s known mostly for his defense, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have a good game today.

Other Option: Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot ($3,600), Glenn Robinson III ($3,800), Josh Hart ($4,100)

Power Forward

Pay Up

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10,500) – This is an interesting situation.  Giannis is listed as probable after missing yesterday to a dental problem.  The Bucks have the one-seed clinched so it’s very possible they rest some guys, such as Bledsoe and Middleton after both of them played yesterday.  There’s certainly a blowout risk here, but Giannis doesn’t need many minutes to pay off that price if he’s the only stud on the court for the Bucks.

Other Option: Deandre Ayton ($7,900)

Value

Rodions Kurucs ($4,100) – The Nets will be without Joe Harris, Jarret Allen, and Caris LeVert on Tuesday.  This opens up plenty of minutes and shots for both Kurucs and Luwawu-Cabbarot.  Both should see upwards of 30 minutes and are solid value pieces for your lineup.

Center

Pay Up

Nikola Vucevic ($8,600) – Vucevic is in line for another big workload on Tuesday.  Vuc was already the go-to guy for the Magic, but even more-so now that they’re a little banged up.  He draws a weak and depleted Brooklyn frontcourt today and should have no problem going to work.

Value

Drew Eubanks ($3,800) – Eubanks is a guy that has blossomed in the bubble.  He saw his highest minute total of the season last time out vs. the Pelicans, and responded with his best performance of the year posting 8 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals – all of which was good for 33.8 DKFP.  I expect Popovich to let the young center get some more run today and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see him play well.
