Slate Overview:

After what seemed like an eternity of seeding games in the bubble, the “playoffs” are finally here.  Today’s only game on the slate is a play-in game between the 8-seed Portland Trailblazers and the 9-seed Memphis Grizzlies.  To advance not only do the Grizzlies have to beat Portland today, but they would have to do so again tomorrow if they want a shot at the Lakers in the first round.  The Blazers are being carried by all-star guard Damian Lillard right now, while on the other side the Grizzlies are limping into this game after going 2-6 in seeding games.  For the first time in a few days, we won’t have to worry about injuries, minutes, or late news.  Let’s dig into the best plays for today’s showdown slate.

Guard

Carmelo Anthony ($7,200) – With so much of the focus on Dame today I think Melo could be in line for a big game.  We know he loves the spotlight and a game like today’s fit’s Melo perfectly.  There should be plenty of shots to go around for the Blazers today and if the 3’s of Lillard, McCollum, and Trent are falling, there should be a whole lot of open room for Melo.

Forward/Center

Anthony Toliver ($3,200) – This is not a guy that is going to go out and get us 40 DraftKings points.  However, he has been playing some important minutes for this young Grizz team.  He can grab boards, offers some block/steal upside on the defensive end, and can shoot the 3.  At this price he allows us to fit a few high-priced guys and that’s more than likely the route I’ll go in this showdown today.

Center

Jusuf Nurkic ($10,000) – For those rostering a center today, I think Valunciunas will be the more popular pick.  He’s coming off a ridiculous game in which he went for 73.8 DKFP and is in line for a lot of work again today.  That all being said, I believe Nurkic has the advantage in this matchup today.  Both guys have very similar skillsets, but in my opinion, Nurkic has a large athletic advantage and is a much better shooter than his counterpart today.  I expect Nurkic to fill the stat sheet and if his scoring upside is there today, he should be in line for a monster game.
