Slate Overview
Monday’s slate gives us a look at two series that are on the verge of being closed out as the Bucks and Heat both hold commanding 3-0 series leads. In the other two matchups, we see the Lakers and Rockets both holding a 2-1 lead. Although it’s the playoffs, I’d be especially careful with the Magic players because if that game starts to get out of hand they might throw in the towel relatively quickly.
Point Guard
The first guy I’m targeting today at the PG position is Goran Dragic ($6,500). Since being re-inserted into the starting lineup, Dragic has been a must-have every game. His price is starting to get away from us a bit, but with the kind of minutes he’s been playing and the amount of usage he’s been getting, I have no problem paying $6,500 for Dragic today.
If you’re looking for a bit of a pricier option at the position today Dennis Schroder ($6,200) looks like a great play. In their last outing, we saw Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Schroder both go for over 50 DKFP. I expect the ownership to flock to Shai, but I prefer Schroder at his current price. He runs the second unit for OKC and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him post another big performance against a favorable matchup in the Rockets.
Shooting Guard
At shooting guard today I’m looking at paying up for James Harden ($11,700). He has been a bit underwhelming so far in these playoffs from a fantasy perspective, but a guy like Harden can erupt at any moment. I expect this to be a close game, and if the Rockets want to take a 3-1 lead they’ll need a big performance from their superstar.
Another guy I like at shooting guard today is Victor Oladipo ($6,300). Oladipo hasn’t looked great since getting poked in the eye game one, but the Pacers are playing for their playoff lives today. Brogdon has taken control of the offense so far this series and his jump in price reflects that. I think Oladipo might fall thru the cracks a bit ownership wise and I like the veteran guard a lot today in what is a true elimination game for the Pacers.
Small Forward
At Small Forward, I’m looking at Eric Gordon ($6,000). Gordon is another guy that we’ve seen slowly get priced-up because of the number of minutes he plays. So far in these playoffs, he is yet to register a fantasy performance below 30, and until he does I’ll continue going back to the well on him. Gordon can do a plethora of things for us from a fantasy perspective, and don’t be surprised if he erupts for a big game.
If you’re looking for a value at the position, Luguentz Dort ($4,000) sticks out to me. Returning from injury in game 3, he was slotted right back into the starting lineup and played 36 minutes. In a game with such a high expected point total, getting a starter at 4k is far too cheap. Dort is one of my favorite value plays of the day.
Power Forward
My favorite play at the power forward position today is Anthony Davis ($10,500). As we’ve seen in the first three games of the series, the Blazers have no one that can match up with AD. The Lakers are running the offense through him, so as long as he’s on the court, I expect him to produce in a large way. I think the Blazers keep it close today to try and avoid going down 3-1, and in turn that should leave a lot of minutes for Anthony Davis to stay on the court.
Another guy that looks to be a solid play today is Carmelo Anthony ($5,800). Melo is playing huge minutes for this Blazers team. At $5,800 he feels a little underpriced to me, especially coming off a game where he logged 42 minutes. The Blazers are fighting for their playoff lives and I don’t expect the Lakers to make it easy on Lillard. This leaves a lot of shots for Melo and in his last game, he took 20. The upside is certainly there and at his current price, I like Melo a lot.
Center
Another Rocket that is playing huge minutes is Jeff Green ($5,400). Green has been primarily playing the 5 for the Rockets, and in his last 2 games has played at least 37 minutes. Trying to take a commanding 3-1 lead, I expect the Rockets to roll Green out there for another large workload tonight and he looks like a great option at the Center position today.
