FanDuel Single-Game Week 2 Monday Night Football Browns at Steelers

FanDuel Single-Game Week 2 Monday Night Browns at Steelers

The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers are set to face off in the second game of tonight’s doubleheader, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 pm ET. In typical AFC North fashion, this matchup might not be a high-scoring affair. The Browns come in as 2.5-point favorites, and the over/under is at 38.5 points.

For those new to single-game slates, they feature five flex spots with scoring rules similar to the main slate. However, kickers are in play, and there’s an “MVP” roster slot that awards 1.5 times the fantasy points, making MVP selection crucial. I wrote a more in depth Fanduel Single Game Strategy article here if you’re interested in digging deeper

MVP Candidates

According to the RiseOrFall NFL DFS projections, Deshaun Watson ($16,500) and Nick Chubb ($17,000) emerge as the top fantasy options for tonight’s game. Watson showcased his dual-threat abilities in Week 1, with 45 rushing yards and a score to complement his passing game. However, his passing performance left room for improvement, making him a somewhat risky MVP choice.

Chubb, on the other hand, consistently delivers, and even with a split backfield in Week 1, he produced significant yardage. His touchdown odds are favorable, and he’s projected to have a big workload.

From the Steelers’ side, Kenny Pickett ($15,000) and Najee Harris ($14,500) are projected to be strong options, although both struggled in Week 1. Pickett threw for modest yards, and Harris had limited opportunities.

Flex Breakdown

If Amari Cooper is out, Donovan Peoples-Jones ($8,500) and David Njoku ($8,000) become more relevant. Peoples-Jones, with a high snap rate, offers a boom-or-bust play, while Njoku may need a touchdown to boost his fantasy points.

Elijah Moore ($9,000) stands out as a potential value pick. With Amari Cooper likely sidelined, Moore has an opportunity to lead the Browns in targets. He showed promise in Week 1, and in a game lacking standout MVP candidates, Moore provides an intriguing option.

George Pickens ($12,000) from the Steelers could also be a valuable addition to your lineup. While he had competition for targets in Week 1, the absence of Diontae Johnson may open up more opportunities for him.

Jerome Ford ($7,500) is worth a look, considering his involvement in the running game, though he didn’t shine in Week 1.

For the Steelers, Jaylen Warren and Allen Robinson are intriguing flex options. Warren’s target share in Week 1 makes him appealing at his salary, while Robinson could benefit from Johnson’s absence.

Pat Freiermuth ($10,000) and Calvin Austin III ($7,000) provide additional options. Freiermuth, back from injury, is projected for solid target numbers, and Austin could see increased playing time due to Johnson’s absence.

Lastly, kickers Dustin Hopkins ($9,500) and Chris Boswell ($8,500) could be viable choices, especially if the game turns into a low-scoring affair. Keep in mind that Boswell carries some risk given the Browns’ strong defensive showing in Week 1.

Defensive Considerations

Surprisingly, the Cleveland D/ST ($9,500) could be an under-the-radar MVP choice. They could capitalize on their impressive performance against the Bengals in Week 1, and with a bit of luck, they might deliver a high fantasy score.
