Must-Start Quarterbacks
1. C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans) vs. Atlanta Falcons
C.J. Stroud has been quietly making a name for himself in the NFL, and he’s a must-start this week. He’s averaging an impressive 300 passing yards per game and has thrown six touchdowns with zero interceptions. Facing the Atlanta Falcons, who rank 14th against opposing quarterbacks, Stroud is set up for success. The Falcons’ defense might have been solid against other positions, but their pass defense is their Achilles’ heel. Expect Stroud to exploit this weakness and put up big numbers.
2. Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Matthew Stafford has been on fire this season, trailing only Tua Tagovailoa in passing yards with 1,229. Even without his star receiver Cooper Kupp, Stafford has been productive. He faces an Eagles defense that’s allowing 20.6 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks and has struggled to intercept passes, picking off opposing quarterbacks only twice in four weeks. This isn’t the same Eagles defense that struck fear into offensive coordinators in previous seasons, making Stafford a solid start.
3. Sam Howell (Chicago Bears) vs. Chicago Bears
Sam Howell has been showing promise, and his matchup against the Chicago Bears is favorable. In his last game, Howell threw for 290 yards, and the Bears’ secondary has allowed a staggering 10 passing touchdowns in four weeks. With the potential for a high-scoring game, Howell is a great option for those looking to fill in for quarterbacks on bye weeks or dealing with injuries.
4. Zach Wilson (New York Jets) vs. Denver Broncos
When it comes to facing the Denver Broncos, you start everyone – quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs. The Broncos’ defense has been porous, allowing 13 passing touchdowns in just four games. Zach Wilson, despite some early struggles, showed improvement in his last game against the Kansas City Chiefs. With better days ahead and a favorable matchup, Wilson is a smart start for Week 5.

Quarterbacks to Sit
1. Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Arizona Cardinals
Joe Burrow has been battling through a calf injury, and it’s affecting his performance. Facing the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed over 20 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, might seem like a good matchup on paper. However, recent performances by the Cardinals’ defense against strong opponents suggest otherwise. Burrow’s injury has impacted his play, and it’s best to give him some time to heal before starting him again.
2. Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) vs. San Francisco 49ers
Dak Prescott faces a San Francisco 49ers defense that sits seventh in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. They’ve picked off opposing quarterbacks five times while allowing just four touchdowns. While Prescott has been better at protecting the ball this season, he’s still facing a formidable defense. The matchup against Nick Bosa and company raises concerns about potential turnovers, making Prescott a sit for Week 5.
3. Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Buffalo Bills
Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are in London for their Week 5 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. While the change in location might offer some benefits, it’s hard to trust Lawrence at this point. He’s facing a Bills defense that leads the league in interceptions with eight and has surrendered just three passing touchdowns this season. Lawrence is a boom-or-bust play this week, and there are safer options available.
In summary, Week 5 presents both opportunities and challenges for fantasy football managers. Make sure to start CJ Stroud, Matthew Stafford, Sam Howell, and Zach Wilson with confidence. On the flip side, consider sitting Joe Burrow, Dak Prescott, and Trevor Lawrence based on their current situations and matchups.
