Free NBA Weekly DFS Lineup Report for DraftKings 2/23

It’s time for the NBA Weekly DFS Lineup Report for Draftkings. I’ll be focusing on the Draftkings main contest on the main slate every day from the previous week. The “main contest” is the $15 unless DK switches things up and offers a $20 contest or maybe even a special lower priced event like an $8 contest.

All of the information presented below comes via Fantasy Cruncher Pro and their Lineup Study and Rewind features. This is a must have tool if you’re being serious about DFS. You’ll have the ability to go back through years worth of data and analyze great players, or like I’ll be doing, specific contests. I really can’t recommend FC Pro enough.

Before I get rolling I have to give a shoutout to Team Rise or Fall member “jfsully61” for taking down the $500k Finger Roll for $100,000. That’s an amazing night and to think, he built this life changing lineup by using Team Rise or Fall tools like Building Blocks and Slate Breakers. Congrats “jfsully61”!

February 16, 2021 Lineup

Here’s the 1st place entry in the $12 NBA $500K Finger Roll:

Winning Lineup for DraftKings 2-16

This was a six-game slate with a winning entry that featured two players priced above 9k (above 10k as well), the same two players were projected for 40+ fantasy points, and there were three players in the lineup with a projected ownership of 20% or more.

I just shouted them out but props once again to Team Rise or Fall member “jfsully61.” Taking down a tournament for 100k is big time. It’s great to see that some of the themes I’ve discussed in the Free NBA Weekly DFS Lineup Reports for DraftKings are present in this winning lineup. (Themes such as at least one player above 9k, at least two players projected for 40+ fantasy points, and using $49,800 or more of the salary.)

February 17, 2021 Lineup

Here’s the 1st place entry in the $15 NBA $500K Fadeaway:

Winning Lineup for DraftKings 2-17

This was a 10-game slate with a winning entry that featured one player priced at 9k or more, four players in the 7k range, three players projected for 40+ fantasy points, and three players with a projected ownership of 20% or more.

When I use a cheap player on DraftKings I’m looking for them to hit six times their salary. So if a guy costs 3k I want at least 18 points from him. We can see that neither Furkan Korkmaz or Robert Williams reached that mark but this entry still produced 376.5 points. Sometimes the puzzle pieces just fit together.

February 18, 2021 Lineup

Here’s the first place entry in the $15 NBA $500K Fadeaway:

Winning Lineup for DraftKings 2-18

This was a three-game slate with a winning entry that featured one player above 9k in salary, three players projected for 40+ fantasy points, and six players with a projected ownership of 20% or more. A three-game slate drives up ownership so no surprises there.

February 19, 2021 Lineup

Here’s the 1st place entry in the $15 NBA $500K Fadeaway:

Winning Lineup for DraftKings 2-19

This was an nine-game slate with a winning entry that featured two players with a salary above 9k (Above 10k), three players with a salary below 4k, two players projected for 40+ fantasy points, and four players with a projected ownership of 20% or more.

It’s crazy to see Giannis drop 73.25 fantasy points and he’s not the highest scoring player on the slate that night. Embiid’s 91.75 was an amazing, slate breaking performance. The real surprise here is Kemba Walker going off for 52.25 fantasy points. Great job by Bric75 of catching Walker on the right night.

February 20, 2021 Lineup

Here’s the 1st place entry in the $15 NBA $450K Fadeaway:

Winning Lineup for DraftKings 2-20

This was a five-game slate with a winning entry that featured one player above 9k in salary, one player projected for 40+ fantasy points, and one player with a projected ownership of 20% or more. The “player” was Damian Lillard for all three of those categories. I believe that’s a first for the Free NBA Weekly DFS Lineup Report for DraftKings.

It was a great night to be contrarian as five out of the eight players had an actual ownership below 15%, with three of the players falling below 10%.

February 21, 2021 Lineup

Here’s the 1st place entry in the $15 NBA $450K Fadeaway:

Winning Lineup for DraftKings 2-21

This was a seven-game slate with a winning entry that featured no players with a salary above 9k, one player in the 8k range, and three players in the 7k range. There were three players projected for 40+ fantasy points, and there were three players with a projected ownership of 20% or more.

We can see that “rbx88” took advantage of some news by playing Al-Farouq Aminu when he got the start. Getting 25.5 fantasy points from a 3k player with 6.4% ownership sets you up to have a great night.

February 22, 2021 Lineup

Here’s the 1st place entry in the $8 NBA $500K Excellent 8’s:

Winning Lineup for Draftkings 2-22

This was a six-game slate with a winning entry that featured two players above 9k in salary (Both above 10k), the same two players projected for 40+ fantasy points, and four players with a projected ownership of 20% or more.

I have to believe that the Washington Wizards-Los Angeles Lakers game going to overtime pushed this lineup to the top spot. Chalky LeBron paid off as did the non-chalky Westbrook. Definitely got lucky with the game going to OT but something about “lucky rather than good” comes to mind.

*Six out of the seven lineups this week used at least $49,800 in salary. Last week featured four lineups below $49,800 but that’s not the norm.

*Every lineup used at least two players from the same team. The three-game slate saw three teammates in the same lineup (Makes sense), and there was a six-game slate where the winning entry used three teammates.

*Four out of seven lineups featured a game stack.

CONCLUSION

We’re now seven weeks deep into this lineup review. In that time the average winning score for the first place lineup is 358.44. That works out to an average of 44.8 points per player. Every slate is different so there’s no one size fits all setting I can give, BUT you gotta try to roster guys with decent upside. Only 13 out of the 56 players reviewed this week scored less than 30 fantasy points. That works out to 23.2% of roster spots.

Five out of the 56 players reviewed this week were projected for less than 20 fantasy points, and one of them (Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on February 20th) was projected for 19.84 so 20 if we round up. You can catch the occasional flash in the pan like Al-Farouq Aminu on February 21st but you’re gonna need to monitor the news all day and slate long.

The salary used in the winning lineup has been below $49,800 nine times out of 56 slates. That means 16.1% of the time you can dip below the 49.8k mark (But 83.9% of the time you shouldn’t). Players used the full 50k salary 26 out of 56 slates (46.4%). I think those numbers give us a pretty good idea of how we should be building our lineups.

That’s all from me for now. I’ll see you all in a week. Until then, LET’S GET THIS MONEY!
