Goodyear 400: NASCAR DFS Cup Series Targets at Darlington

When all three of NASCAR’s major touring series head to Darlington Raceway, it’s routinely one of my favorite weekends and NASCAR DFS has proven to be both fun and profitable here as well. Given the nickname, “The Lady in Black”, Darlington is the sport’s oldest “superspeedway”, originally hosting its first NASCAR sanctioned race in 1950 when it was then a 1.25-mile race track. Then, this was the series’ first race on a track longer than one mile, and the first on a paved surface.
Since then, the track has been reconfigured and is no longer asymmetrical. The unique layout and old, worn pavement that the drivers will be racing on this Sunday, makes conditions difficult and will prove to be a challenge for even the most talented of drivers.
While Darlington no longer hosts the Southern 500 on Labor Day weekend, there is still more history here than most stops on the schedule. To honor the sport’s great history, NASCAR now runs what is called, “Throwback Weekend” when they make their way to the track too tough to tame. There are some really cool ones worth checking out prior to the race, but perhaps none cooler than Kurt Busch’s, Bill Elliott throwback to 1998.

Cool, right?
With my nostalgia itch scratched, let’s get down to business for NASCAR DFS and the Goodyear 400. As I will be out of town this weekend, I am turning things over to another member of the team at RiseOrFall.com, the man, Scrosby. He will lead you through his favorite NASCAR DFS targets at Darlington on Draftkings.
NASCAR DFS Targets for the Goodyear 400
#4 Kevin Harvick- $8,800
Kevin Harvick will be starting 35th for the race and offers massive place differential upside. Over his last 12 races at Darlington Harvick has finished no lower than 9th.
#9 Chase Elliot- $10,600
Chase Elliot wrecked during practice and will be going to the backup car. However, this is still a great car and Chase like Harvick offers a huge place differential upside. If you are playing cash for this race just go ahead and lock him and Harvick into your lineups.
#19 Martin Truex- $10,500
Over the last three races at Darlington Truex has led a total of 444 laps and won the spring race last year. Enough said. Truex should be in contention for leading a ton of laps in this race alongside Kyle Larson and should be interchangeable with Larson in your lineups as you build.
#2 Austin Cindric- $7,100
Austin Cindric makes for an interesting GPP play this week after posting the fastest lap in practice. Cindric starts 19th and offers top 10 upside. During practice he posted the 2nd best 5 lap average speeds, and the 9th 10 lap averages. Cindric will bring speed to this race track, a place where he posted three top 10 finishes in his time in Xfinity including a 3rd place finish here last spring.
Cindric has hit a few bumps in the road as rookies tend to do but his upside at potential lower ownership is hard to pass up in tournaments this week.
#47 Ricky Stenhouse- $6,700
Ricky is coming off a great week at Dover where he nearly won the race. He seems to have brought that same speed with him to Darlington after posting top 10 speed in practice. He starts 26th and offers good place differential upside if he has the speed again this week.
Good Luck this week!
