Hot Pucking Stacks

Sundays will always be dominated by professional football. The only issue with that is the NFL season is over! That paired with the NBA All-Star break and what are we left with? Aside from the Daytona 500 this afternoon we have a full slate of hockey!
As for us East coaters continue to deal with winter and the cold weather Hot Pucking Stacks is going to heat up! As usual, the major DFS sites have the slate broken down in different ways.
1p Early Only(3) 1p Main(8)
1p All Day(8) 3p Afternoon(2)
2p Afternoon Only(3) 6p Turbo(2)
5p Main(5) 8p Late(2)
FLORIDA PANTHERS first line @ Chicago
Alexsander Barkov L1 PP1(FD-$8,600)(DK-$7,500)
Anthony Duclair L1 PP1(FD-$5,900)(DK-$4,800)
Carter Verhaeghe L1 NA(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,100)
The Florida Panthers continue a road trip Sunday afternoon with a game at the United Center against the Chicago Blackhawks. Florida is 34-10-5 on the year and is currently rolling! This season, offensively, Florida has been asserting their dominance as of late averaging 4.2 goals per game on 36.4 shots as a team. Aleksander Barkov leads the team with 22 goals on 120 shots.
So far this season Chicago has only been able to muster up only 2.30 goals per game on 28.6 shots while allowing 3.31 goals. The Panthers are the better team here and should roll over the Blackhawks with ease. Florida wins here 5-1. Stack the Panthers every which way! The first line, second line, and even both power-play units!
COLOMBUS BLUE JACKETS first-line vs. Buffalo
Boone Jenner L1 PP1(FD-$6,900)(DK-$6,100)
Patrick Laine L1 PP1(FD-$7,100)(DK-$5,700)
Jakub Voracek L1 PP1(FD-$5,200)(DK-$3,500)
Look, I am a big fan of the Saber’s first line. Tage Thompson is a star in the making. This kid scored three times yesterday after the Sabers put up a valiant fight against the Colorado Avalanche. Personally speaking, Buffalo is walking into a woodchipper today against the Blue Jackets. Columbus played in Chicago last, on Thursday, and scored seven times. While Buffalo is on a back-to-back having given the Avalanche all they had on Saturday.
Stack up the Blue Jackets today as they are at home, rested, and riding the high of a scoring barrage. CBJ wins here 5-1!
NEW YORK ISLANDERS first power-play unit vs Montreal
Mathew Barzal L1 PP1(FD-$6,200)(DK-$5,300)
Brock Nelson L2 PP1(FD-$6,100)(DK-$3,900)
Anders Lee L1 PP1(FD-$5,100)(DK-$3,500)
Jean-Gabriel Pageau L3 PP1(FD-$4,100)(DK-$2,500)
The Montreal Canadians are bad which is no secret. However, the Islanders haven’t fared much better offensively averaging only 2.45 goals per game on 28.9 shots as a team. The sports may be different, but the idea is always the same, stack against bad teams. Mathew Barzal leads the NYI offense with 33 points this season to go along with a team-high 21 assists including nine power-play goals. Brock Nelson is the lead goal scorer for New York with 16 goals this season on 78 shots. So, let’s cast a wide net today with New York! Stack their first power unit as I have them projected to win 4-1. One, maybe two, goals come on the power play!
Noah Dobson L2 PP1 NYI v MTL(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,400)
Noah is just an extension of the Islander first power-play unit! Last time out, Thursday, Noah was on the ice for 19 minutes scoring a goal, one assist, a block, and four SOG. This kid has been busy as he makes his ascent to a reliable DFS defenseman.
John Klingberg L2 PP1 DAL @ ARZ(FD-$4,900)(DK-$4,300)
John, to me, is one of those right place right time type defenseman. How can he not be averaging 21:50 minutes a game on the ice? Also, getting some solid run on the first power-play unit only furthers his cause.
Miro Heinskanen L1 PP1 DAL @ ARZ(FD-$5,000)(DK-$4,500)
Since day one of NHL DFS, I have always tried to, if possible, stack up two defensemen from the same team that is not part of my offensive stacks. The Dallas boys are it today! Miro is averaging 24:49 minutes of ice time a game to go along with two PPG(power-play goals)! Who’s to say both Stars defensemen find the back of the net today on the power play?
Tyson Barrie L3 PP1(FD-$4,200)(DK-$3,900)
Yes, I am aware Barrie is part of the third-line defensive combo. However, he skates with the big dogs on the first power-play unit. Any shared ice time with McDavid and Leon Draisaitl is enough to move the needle! Just so happens Tyson accounted for two assists and four SOH(shots on goal) yesterday in Winnipeg.
Ilya Sorokin NYI v MTL(FD-$7,900)(DK-$8,500)
Sorokin has been a source of both pain and excitement this season. The Islanders starting goalie, Semyon Varlamov is still in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. Meaning the starting gig is all Sorokin’s, for now. Last week was tough sledding for IIya as he gave up 9 total goals in a two-game span. However, he bounced back big time on Thursday saving 26 of 27 shots. What’s better than a cake match-up to propel NYI into next week? Start Sorokin with confidence today!
Igor Shesterkin NYR @ OTT(FD-$8,400)(DK-$8,200)
Not trying to be dramatic here but Igor may be the goalie version of the Terminator. His game log saves wise reads as follows: 31, 31, 34, 40, 31, and 34! Having given up no more than 3 goals in any game leading back to the end of January. The Senators have been fun to watch as of late but I’m expecting Igor to show up in a big way today!
Elvis Merzlikins CBJ v BUF(FD-$7,500)(DK-$8,000)
With that new Elvis Presley biopic being promoted it’s only right we mention Elivs Merzilkins today! Elvis will make the start in goal today against Buffalo. Merzilkins is 18-13-1 on the season with two shutouts. Elvis carries 3.42 goals-against average into this one but as stated above in our Blue Jackets stack the Sabers may be flat out exhausted. Leading to a nice stat-line on the strength of his offense.
There you have it! Good luck with your hockey adventures today!
That is, it! Did I miss someone?
