Well, that was quick. I am talking about the weekend. When I was a little boy with no responsibilities the idea of time had no meaning. Do as I please, eat what I wanted, hang with my buddies, and do it all over again the next day.
Now, as an adult man in his mid-30s, all I think about is time. Where did it all go? How can I get more of it? What should I do now with it? On the surface, it may seem as though I’m on the cusp of an existential crisis. I can assure you that I am not!
Years ago, at one of my therapy sessions, my doc told me that time is the real currency. The idea of currency is pretty cut and dry to most adults, paper money. I am not the end all be all for wisdom, philosophy, and daily fantasy sports. However, I find no harm in sharing my life experiences. I find no harm in being open and honest with you.
Social media has created this false sense of security. People can be what they want. People can say what they want. There are little to no responsibilities on social media. Don’t make that mistake. Yes, do as you please but consider the time spent doing so. Time is a precious thing we cannot get back. Instead, take your time and enjoy the ride.
Let’s talk hockey now, shall we?

VANCOUVER CANUCKS L1 at New Jersey 7:30p EST
Bo Horvat L1 & PP1(FD-$6,100)(DK-$4,800)
Brock Boeser L1 & PP1(FD-$6,400)(DK-$4,600)
Vasily Podkolzin L1(FD-$3,700)(DK-$2,500)
The Vancouver Canucks played in New York last night beating the Rangers 5-2! Vancouver starts the new week rolling with a three-game winning streak. The Canucks are 25-22-6 on the season and sit 6th in the Pacific. Also, the Vancouver Canuks sport a 13-12-3 road record.
The New Jersey Devils are finally back home on Monday when they welcome in the Vancouver Canucks. The Devils are 18-29-5 on the season which is near the bottom of the Metropolitan division. The Devils have only won three of their last ten games and sport a 10-13-3 on their home ice.
This game should be highly contested as the Canuks are skating with confidence while on the road. On the flip side, this Devils team has been a source of cheap plays that pop.
Vancouver proves too much in Jersey tonight and wins a close one 3-2!
WASHINGTON CAPITALS L2 vs. Toronto Maple Leaf’s 7:30p EST
Nicklas Backstrom L2 & PP1(FD-$5,700)(DK-$3,800)
Tom Wilson L2 & PP2(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,300)
Joe Snively L2(FD-$4,200)(DK-$2,700)
Let’s talk about the obvious elephant in the article. Toronto scored 10 goals on Saturday in Detroit! Ten flipping goals! Mitch Marner was on fire scoring four goals and adding two assists. The Maple Leafs are averaging about 3.65 goals per game which happen to be 4th overall in the NHL. Toronto has also won five of their last ten games. So why Washington’s second line?
The Washington Capitals have currently lost two games in a row. So why stack any of the Washington Capitals? Daily fantasy sports, to me, has become more of a strategic game based on potential ownership and reading the direction of other DFS players. Make no mistake, Toronto should be the most highly owned team tonight. Matthews, Marner, and even William Nylander will command massive ownership percentages. If we look at this one from a 10,000-foot view we can see the leverage has just been handed to us!
As usual, I do not care who wins the game. I care about goals, assists, and points. Toronto should take this one, but Washington will put up a fight.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are riding a pink cloud and win 4-3!
LOS ANGELES KINGS L1 vs. Boston Bruins 10:30p EST
Anze Kopitar L1 & PP1(FD-$6,700)(DK-$5,800)
Adrian Kempe L1 & PP1(FD-$5,500)(DK-$5,200)
Alex Iaffalo L1 & PP1(FD-$5,600)(DK-$4,700)
On Saturday the Kings beat the Islanders 5-2. At first glance, one would think this first line did the heavy lifting. You would be wrong! Kopitar and Kempe only had one assist each while Kempe gave us a goose egg. In my weird mind, the alarm bells are going off and shouting “LA1 is due! LA1 is due! LA1 is due!”
The LA Kings are looking for their sixth consecutive win on Monday when hosting The Bruins. Adrian Kempe is the leading goal scorer for LA with 25, while Anze Kopitar is the leader in assists with 35 and points with 50. In goal, Cal Petersen has been outstanding under the radar GPP goalie with a 14-7-1 record while carrying a .900 save percentage.
The Kings are scoring, on average, 2.95 goals per game while only allowing about 2.50 goals per game. What I am after tonight is the Kings’ power play. Which scores 16.5% of the time while killing off about 77 % of them. If you’re an NHL DFS player then all your eyes should be on this one. I see it as a fast-paced back-and-forth competitive contest.
I cannot shake this feeling that the Kings get a good bounce or two and lift them over the Bruins.
Final score LA Kings 4-3!

In conclusion, I am very much aware of the damage Boston and Toronto may do tonight. So do a million other folks. In cash game contests we are not fading the Bruins and Maple Leafs. If you’re like me then you know the move tonight. Let’s take big swings that are away from the chalk!
There you have it! Good luck with your hockey adventures today!
