It is the weekend! Time to relax, rest, and unwind right? Well, it depends on what your definition of rest and relaxation is. I still look at the weekend as a free for all, within reason. In a perfect world, I can be peaceful and reflect on the week that was and plan for the coming week.

The first thing that comes to mind about this past week is strength. How we are all built differently and there is, without doubt, a sliding scale of strength. My career has put me on the path of some amazing people. Some of them need my help while others have helped me. I firmly believe our strength comes from working with others. While we share our experience, strength, and hope with another person we are, in a way, also helping ourselves.

I have been in several situations where my ego has led me to believe I was fortunate. Only to realize that my crap attitude had held me back and left me looking around for help. A total role reversal filled with embarrassment and shame. Everything I do from here on out is to be of assistance to others. Every action has a purpose that leads to close personal growth.

From MonkMMATics himself, “I’m going to give you three value plays & a fade this week, with a bit of what I call salary voodoo thrown in.”

As we turn our attention to a full day’s worth of hockey action buckle up! Twelve total games and countless different slates! Let’s dig in! Here are a few thoughts for Saturday’s hockey!

LOS ANGELES L1 vs. Seattle Kraken 10:30p EST

Anze Kopitar L1 & PP1(FD-$6,200)(DK-$6,000)
Adrian Kempe L1 & PP1(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,300)
Alex Iaffalo L1 & PP1(FD-$4,700)(DK-$4,400)

In a shocking turn of events, The Seattle Kraken are looking for their third straight win when they visit the Kings in Los Angles! I wouldn’t hold my breath seeing how Seattle is last in the Pacific Division and a lot of points behind the Sharks. Meanwhile, the Kings are in second place in the Pacific with an overall record of 35-22-9! Good enough for 79 points and are nipping at the Calgary Flames heels.

Adrian Kempe leads the Kings in goals with 28. While Kings captain Anze Kopitar leads the squad in assists(39) and in points(55). Los Angeles has had a little dip in offensive production but is currently scoring, on average, 2.85 goals a game while allowing opposing teams to score around 2.70 goals per game. The Kings’ power play needs a massive jolt seeing how they are only cashing in around 16.7% of the time which is 28th overall in the league. Behind the likes of the Kraken, Canadiens, and Flyers.

The Kraken are 27th in the league in goals against, allowing around 3.60 goals a game. Los Angeles is also 15-5 their last 20 as the favorite. Everything is pointing in the Kings direction tonight. Late-night game with little to no hype feeds my fire!

The LA Kings might just carry the OVER on their own! Final score, Kings win 6-2!

SAN JOSE SHARKS L1 vs. Anaheim Mighty Ducks 10:30p EST

Tomas Hertl L1 & PP1(FD-$6,100)(DK-$5,600)
Timo Meier L1 & PP1(FD-$8,800)(DK-$7,300)
Alexander Barabanov L1 & PP2(FD-$4,500)(DK-$2,500)

The Ducks head to the Shark Tank tonight having lost eight straight games in San Jose! Anaheim is currently sixth in the Pacific Division at 27-28-11 with 65 points. The Sharks are seventh in the Pacific Division at 28-28-8 with 64 points but are only one point behind Anaheim. Realistically, both teams are far behind and out of playoff contention. Interestingly enough the Duck’s last win was way back on March 6 when they beat the Sharks 3-2 in overtime.

Timo Meier has the most goals for the Sharks(27), assists(35), and points(62). San Jose has been scoring, on average, 2.60 goals a game while allowing around 3.10 goals a game. Normally I love the idea of stacking the same even-strength line that also doubles as the first power-play unit. However, the Shark’s power play is only scoring around 18.6% of the time which is a lowly 23rd overall in the league. With all that said the Sharks have completely dominated the Ducks and I see no reason why that changes tonight. After we all go to bed look for the Shark’s first line to hang a few goals as that late-game hammer!

Final score, the Sharks feast on Duck tonight and win 4-1!

Stack addition Brett Burns L1 & PP1(FD-$5,700)(DK-$6,000)

Burnsy isn’t the stud point-producing defenseman he used to be but as a true legend, he has been durable and contributing in other ways. Brett has played in all 63 games for the Sharks this year while firing 160 total shots on goal and blocking 115 shots. We have to pick our spots with him these days and I am choosing tonight, at home, against the Ducks!

Elias Pettersson L2 & PP1(FD-$6,200)(DK-$4,200)
Bo Horvat L2 & PP1(FD-$6,800)(DK-$5,200)
Brock Boeser L2 & PP1(FD-$6,100)(DK-$4,700)

Vancouver heads to Dallas Texas tonight to tussle with the Stars! The Canucks lost to the Wild in overtime last time out. Vancouver is 31-26-9 this season and is 5th in the Central. However, the Canucks have only won four of their last ten games. Dallas on the other hand is 36-24-3 on the season and currently holds the last Wild Card Playoff spot. The Stars are tough at home, 21-8-1 to be exact.

Canuck’s goalie Thatcher Demko has been a seasonal favorite of mine in DFS formats. Demko is 27-19-5 on the season with one shutout. Demko has allowed 137 total goals this year. He also boasts a very respectable 2.69 GAA. The last time these Western Conference foes faced off the Canucks won 6-3!

Plain and simple, the Stars are playing well. The Stars are outstanding at home. So, let’s not expect the moon and stars from Vancouver but I do believe they can go toe-to-toe with the Stars. A quick paced game is on tap tonight, but Vancouver falls short.

The final in Dallas tonight, Stars win 4-3!
