There is one NHL game tonight! The Winnipeg Jets head to Montreal to battle the Canadiens! Therefore, I am going to approach Hot Puck from a different perspective today! Rather than full stacks, I thought it fun to mention a few skaters to create a player pool!

Love the idea of a single game hockey slate this late in the season as we sharpen our DFS tools while the baseball season kicks off! Here are a few players and ideas I am rolling with tonight!

Nick Suzuki L1 & PP1(FD-$12,500)(DK-$8,000)
Cole Caulfield L1 & PP1(FD-$11,000)(DK-$7,800)
Mike Hoffman L2 & PP1(FD-$9,500)(DK-$5,800)
Christian Dvorak L3 & PP1(FD-$9,500)(DK-$7,000)

The Canadians lost last Monday against the Jets. Montreal is basically going through the motions at this stage of the season seeing how they are last in the Atlantic with a record of 20-41-11. The Canadians have long been eliminated from playoff contention. Montreal has also lost five of its last seven games.

Nick Suzuki, also known as, Mr. Montreal is leading the team in goals(19), assists(35), and in points(54). Montreal is only scoring, on average, 2.60 goals a game while allowing around 3.80 goals a game. We don’t need a magnifying glass to see the disconnect here. Montreal’s power play is ranked 31st out of 32 teams as they are only cashing in around 13.5% of the time.

Sports betting and daily fantasy sports is never a sure thing. I am in no way advocating to stack up the Canadiens in hopes of a 5+ goal outburst. I am merely saying, in GPPs, stack them in hopes of being a tad different as most single-game NHL DFS-ers will have a heavy dose of the Jets.

WINNIPEG JETS at Montreal Canadiens 7p EST

Kyle Connor L1 & PP1(FD-$15,500)(DK-$10,800)
Pierre-Luc Dubois L1 & PP1(FD-$12,000)(DK-$8,600)
Nikolaj Ehlers L1 & PP1(FD-$14,500)(DK-$9,600)
Paul Stastny L2 & PP1(FD-$10,000)(DK-$7,400)

The Jets are on the last leg of a back-to-back as they skate in Montreal tonight. Winnipeg beat the Ottawa Senators last night 4-3 on the strength of a balanced offensive attack. Ehlers, Stastny, Connor, and Dubois all scored once. Overall, Winnipeg is 33-28-11 and is still chasing down that last wild card spot in the Western Conference. This last Wild Card spot race should be good as they trail the Dallas Stars by seven points with 10 games remaining in the regular season!

Kyle Connor is, without doubt, a stone-cold stud as is also leading the Jets in goals scored(41), and points(82). If you wanted to throw in Blake Wheeler to your player pool, then fine by seeing how he leads Winnipeg in assists with 42. The Jets are scoring, on average, 3 goals a game while allowing around 3.10 goals a game. Winnipeg’s power play is slightly above average as they are scoring 21.7% of the time.

As we build our single game hockey lines tonight remember one thing, nothing is perfect, and it is ok to take big swings. Personally, I see no reason to play cash game contests on any single game slate let alone a hockey game. I have also lived by the mantra, “Weirder your lines the better!” Two things before the split. The over has hit in 13 of the Canadiens’ last 19 games. While the over has hit in each of Winnipeg’s last 5 games on 0.0 days rest!

Bet the OVER without hesitation as I see the Jets beating the Canadiens tonight by a final score of 6-4!
