Frustration is one heck of an emotion. Not to sound overdramatic but it’s like a narcotic sometimes. The thought of, “waking up on the wrong side of the bed” is basically irritation and frustration put in a kinder way. Like any of our behaviors, if harnessed, we can use it to our advantage. Being scared, feeling embarrassed, or even our anger can be tools for good if accepted as such!

Of all the human emotions I do believe irritation is, without doubt, the most useless and worthless of them all. We make bad choices when irritated. We say awful things to others while irritated. Nothing good has ever come from being irritated. The only reason I mention this is because the start of the workday was just chalked full of frustration which led to irritation. At least I can see it, kind of?

There are only three games tonight on the hockey schedule. It is ripe for the picking! Here is what I am thinking. Let’s dig in!

COLORADO AVALANCHE L1 vs. Los Angeles Kings 9:30p EST

Nathan MacKinnon L1 & PP1(FD-$9,800)(DK-$8,900)
Mikko Rantanen L1 & PP1(FD-$8,100)(DK-$7,400)
Andre Burakovsky L1 & PP2(FD-$5,000)(DK-$4,500)

The Avalanche are 52-14-5 overall with 110 total points. They are now also tied with the Panthers in points and for the President’s trophy! Colorado is basically impossible to beat at home seeing how their home ice record is 28-4-3. On offense, the Avalanche are scoring, on average, 3.85 goals a game to go along with 35 shots a contest. The Avalanche are top-5 in the league with their power-play and finding success 25% of the time.

The Kings are no slouch with an overall record of 38-26-10 and are 20-10-6 on the road. LA is in 3rd place in the Pacific Division and will be in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. On offense, the Kings are scoring, on average 2.80 goals a game on around 35.5 shots. Defensively, LA is also allowing about 2.8 goals a game on 35 shot attempts. While the Avalanche defense is allowing, on average, 2.80 goals a contest.

In the Kings, last 10 games the over has been 5-4-1. Colorado is 8-1-1 straight up their last 10 games. While the under has been 3-7 in Colorado’s last 10 games. Of all the games on tonight’s hockey slate, this one moves the needle full game stack-wise.

The Avalanche have only lost four games at home this season. Once again, Colorado will beat LA at Ball Arena by a final score of 6-3!

NEW YORK RANGERS L2 at Philadelphia Flyers 7p EST

Ryan Strome L2 & PP1(FD-$5,800)(DK-$4,600)
Chris Kreider L2 & PP1(FD-$8,600)(DK-$7,300)
Frank Vatrano L2 & PP2(FD-$4,300)(DK-$3,800)

After a nice two-game home stretch The Rangers head to the city of Brotherly Love to battle the Philadelphia Flyers. New York heads into this one at 47-20-6 overall looking to add to their current 3-game winning streak. On the flip side, the Flyers welcome the Rangers which will be their second straight home game. The Flyers have also lost three of their last five games.

Personally speaking, I do not think this game will close. Right from the start, the Rangers should do as they please in preparation for the postseason. I have also uncovered some eye-popping betting trends.

NYR are 6-1 in their last 7 road games.
NYR are 4-1 in their last 5 games on a Wednesday! (Yes, this is a legitimate thing!)
NYR are 45-16 in their last 61 games as a favorite.
PHI is a measly 16-36 in their last 52 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600.
PHI is only 9-21 in their last 30 home games.

Once again, the New York Rangers will beat up the Flyers by a final score of 6-1!

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS vs. Montreal Canadiens 7p EST

Jack Roslovic L1 & PP2(FD-$4,900)(DK-$3,600)
Patrik Laine L1 & PP1(FD-$7,500)(DK-$6,800)
Gustav Nyquist L1 & PP1(FD-$5,400)(DK-$3,500)

The Blue Jackets head home tonight with an overall record of 34-33-6. Columbus is back over .500 after winning two of their last three games. No secret here but the Canadiens are not good. Specifically, they are one of the worst teams in the league. MTL has also lost three of their last four games.

On offense for CBJ Jack Roslovic had one heck of a game against the Red Wings this past Saturday! Jack scored three times on just four! Columbus is scoring, on average, 3.20 goals a game on around 30 shots. Patrik Laine leads this offense in points(53) and in goals(25).

The total has gone over 13 times in Montreal’s last 20 games. The total has also gone over in 4 of the Blue Jackets’ last 6 games against Montreal. Lastly, the Canadiens are only 1-5 the last 6 times they’ve played Columbus. Not shocking to think the Blue Jackets have their way with the Canadiens tonight. The question should be by how much?

The Blue Jackets will completely overwhelm Montreal tonight and win by a final score of 5-1!
