Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are but tiny matters in comparison to what lies within us.” I find this quote to be strong as more and more people are fixated on what was or what is to come. While they miss out on what is right in front of them.

I have always heard that humans are not shown the future cause of the burden they would bear. It would be too much to handle. So, in turn, our lives are played out a second at a time. A minute at a time. If we have our feet firmly planted on the ground then we are able to appreciate the love currently in our lives.

We have reached a point in the NHL season where each game is easily prognosticated and predictable final score-wise. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are taking shape and there is also a definitive line in the stand. Also, teams like the Golden Knights and Hurricanes tonight take on bad teams. Therefore, I firmly believe we see overs, blowouts, and big-time goal totals!

LAS VEGAS GOLDEN L2 vs. New Jersey Devils 10p EST

Chandler Stephenson L2 & PP2(FD-$5,300)(DK-$3,300)
Mark Stone L2 & PP1(FD-$5,400)(DK-$4,600)
Max Pacioretty L2 & PP1(FD-$8,100)(DK-$6,700)

The Golden Knights are 41-30-5 overall this season. In comparison to the Devils and their 26-42-7 overall record. Vegas has scored, on average, 3.20 goals a game. While the Golden Knights are only allowing around 2.95 goals a game. The Jersey Devils however have been allowing opposing teams to score, on average, 3.60 goals a game. This one could get nasty for the Devils.

Here are a few betting trends I find interesting and help paint a Vegas blowout! The Jersey Devils are 2-7 in their last 9 games. The total has gone over in 4 out of Las Vegas’s last 5 games. The Golden Knights are also 7-3 in their last 10 games.

Two things to note here. Bet the OVER 6.5 goals and stack up the Golden Knight’s second line as they win by a final score of 7-1!

CAROLINA HURRICANES L1 at Arizona Coyotes 10p EST

Sebastian Aho L1 & PP1(FD-$7,800)(DK-$7,300)
Seth Jarvis L1 & PP2(FD-$4,400)(DK-$2,700)
Andrei Svechnikov L1 & PP1(FD-$7,400)(DK-$6,800)

Speaking of good teams against bad teams, look no further than Carolina vs. Arizona! The Hurricanes are cruising towards the NHL Playoffs with an overall 48-20-8 record. While the Coyotes are just 22-48-5 on the year. I have long said it can always be worse and Arizona is a testament to that having lost to the Calgary Flames 9-1 on Saturday.

So far this season the Hurricanes are scoring, on average, 3.30 goals a game while their power play has been humming and converting around 22.5% of the time! Good enough for exactly 10th overall in the league. When we look at each team’s defense it couldn’t be further apart. The Arizona defense is giving up, on average, 3.80 goals a game. While Carolina’s defense is current tops in the NHL as they only surrender around 2.40 goals a game.

I say this often but stacking up any of the Carolina Hurricane skaters is the easiest decision you can make today. Two trends I want to mention here as it fits my Carolina narrative! The total has gone over in 4 out of Carolinas last 6 games. The total has also gone over in 4 out of Arizona’s last 5 games.

Betting the OVER 6 goals is a sure thing. Stacking up the Hurricane’s first line is as well as I expect them to win by a final score of 7-2!

OTTAWA SENATORS L1 at Seattle Kraken 10p EST

Josh Norris L1 & PP1(FD-$7,000)(DK-$6,100)
Brady Tkachuck L1 & PP1(FD-$6,900)(DK-$6,100)
Conor Brown L1 & PP2(FD-$4,500)(DK-$2,700)

The Ottawa Senators’ record is only 28-40-7 overall. While the Kraken isn’t much better as they sit in last place in the Pacific at 24-44-6. So, two bad teams against each other on a smaller slate chalked full of goal-scoring potential. What gives?

Josh Norris leads the Sens in goals scored at 33, while Brady Tkachuk’s 32 assists are a team-high along with his 50 total points. Ottawa is scoring, on average, 2.70 goals a game while allowing around 3.20 goals a game. On the flip side, Seattle is only scoring, on average, 2.60 goals a game while allowing opponents to score about 3.50 goals a game.

Simply put, two teams looking forward to the off-season. Two teams with nothing to lose and both squads might as well take it easy on defense tonight. Let’s use that to our advantage. In an odd way, I see no issue in fully stacking this game in the right contest. If not, bet on the Senators as their money line is +105.

Look for Ottawa to wail on the Kraken and win outright by a final score of 5-2!
