Why Jalen Hurts will breakout 2022 Underdog Fantasy Best Ball

jalen hurts

Jalen Hurts is currently be drafted as QB7 in Underdog Fantasy 2022 Best Ball drafts. Does he have the upside to be in the winning lineups?

Let’s dive into Hurts and his supporting cast!

Jalen Hurts 2022 Analysis

In his first full season under center, Hurts put together a solid season from a fantasy perspective racking up 3,144 passing yards, 784 rushing yards and 26 total touchdowns. Solis numbers for Hurts with an average at best supporting cast.

Hurts only averaged 209.6 passing yards per game which was 27th highest in the NFL. Abysmal numbers but, we should expect this to improve with the addition of A.J. Brown and another year of development for both Hurts and DeVonta Smith.

Eagles Offensive Outlook

Let’s dive into the Eagles offense in 2022!

Running Game
This should feature a mix of Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell and Jalen Hurts. It does not appear that either of the backs stand out as a workhorse so we should see another 100+ attempts on the ground for Hurts. This bodes very well for his rushing floor!

Passing Game
This is the area that will propel Hurts to a breakout season. The acquisition of A.J. Brown is huge for Hurts. He gets a guy that is a big play threat with two 1,000 yard seasons in three years. This is a MASSIVE upgrade from the tandem of Quez Watkins/Jalen Regaor.

Hurts still has his top two targets from 2021 in DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert as well. I expect Goedert to be a reliable safety blanket for Hurts to go to in the middle of the field to move the chains. We should continue to see solid production there. DeVonta Smith should take a big leap forward in 2022. Smith saw 104 targets last season and he now has Brown on the other side of the field to take the attention off of him. An ADOT of 13.9 is a solid number and we should see and improvement on his 61.5% Catch%.

The Eagles passing game has vastly improved and we should see Jalen Hurts having a breakout season if he develops into a more efficient passer!
