MLB DFS Stacks, Pitching, & Hitting Targets | DraftKings & FanDuel MLB Picks 8/14

MLB DFS Strategy Study Hub Session 8/14

There are many things that you can do with our MLB DFS study hub. It’s loaded with information and has many different functions that you can mess around with. We have these study for MLB DFS, NBA DFS, NFL DFS, NASCAR DFS, NHL DFS, PGA DFS, and MMA DFS. Today, I wanted to break down different ways to use the Study Hub with examples of filters used. These are up to the user for what metrics and at what levels they’d like to use for each category. The world is your oyster!

I’ll be breaking down the main slate on DraftKings, FanDuel, and SuperDraft. It’s a 10-game slate on DraftKings and SuperDraft. FanDuel is going with a nine-game offering. The slate begins at 7:05 PM EST/4:05 PM PST on all sites.

Hot Hitting Teams

These are the last 14-days of team-by-team splits vs. starting pitcher-handedness. Basically, you can get a quick glimpse of which teams are HOT vs. handedness of pitcher based on splits alone.

The wOBA/ISO Hot Hitters Club

This is a list of hitters with a .400 wOBA / .300 ISO split with at least 20 Plate Appearances over the last 30-days of baseball.

MLB DFS LINEUP BUILDING BLOCKS

Now that the hard part has been cleared it’s time to dig a little deeper as we start building our stacks. I like to look at players that are playing really well the last seven days. I’m of the opinion that baseball players are streaky so I look at the most recent sample.

These are the hottest hitters using the same parameters as the Hot Hitters Club over a seven day span. The only difference is I use nine plate appearances instead of 20 plate appearances.

As you’ll see in the section below there are 11 teams projected for 5+ runs today (Including rounding up implied totals). There are 18 or 20 teams in action depending on whether you’re playing on DK, FD, or SD, so that’s over half the teams that are projected for a big day Our goal is to take the information above to try and find a solid stack or two that the majority of the field is overlooking. Three Dodgers show up in the last 7 days list and our MLB DFS Study Hubs rank them 4th overall and 8th in ownership on DraftKings and 7th overall and 6th in ownership on FanDuel. Interesting..

I do want to add the Colorado is really popping in the chart but there’s some lag involved. In the last four days the Rockies have scored a total of five runs. They scored 34 runs the three days before that. So Colorado is ice cold since hitting the road to face the Giants. You can be contrarian if you like but I don’t see me doing that with the Rockies in particular.

Here are a few things that catch my eye for today’s slate:

*I don’t know why I say anything about the weather because everything goes haywire later in the evening. Yesterday’s Pittsburgh warning did lead to a cancellation but things looked ok other than that and we ended up with a long delay for Atlanta-Washington. As it stands RIGHT NOW, the LAD-NYM game is the only one with a chance of rain above 10%. Fingers crossed.

*The Athletics with James Kaprielian (-214), Giants with Sammy Long (-204), Padres with Joe Musgrove (-201), and Astros with Luis Garcia (-200) represent the biggest favorites on the slate.

*The Athletics, Cardinals, Royals, Giants, Astros, and Padres are all projected for 5+ runs.

*The Blue Jays, Dodgers, White Sox, Twins, and Rays are all projected for 5 runs if you round up their implied total.

*The Astros, Mariners, Brewers, Cardinals, and Giants are the only teams on winning streaks of 3+ games on the slate.

*The Rockies, Padres, and Pirates are the teams on the slate with a losing streak of 3+ games.
