MLB DFS Strategy Study Hub Breakdown 8/3
Our Study Hubs are chock full of relevant statistics for MLB DFS, NBA DFS, NFL DFS, NHL DFS, MMA DFS, PGA DFS, and NASCAR DFS! Today we will focus on the MLB side of things and I will highlight what stands out to me on today’s massive 15 game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel!
DraftKings SP Targets
These targets were created using the filters in the MLB Study Hub under the DraftKings Pitcher Matchups tab! First, I created a filter for DK Rating greater than 100 then I sorted K% by Above Average. This is an easy filter that can be made in 30 seconds to create a Pitcher pool for DraftKings.
Zack Wheeler is the only pitcher with a DK OWN% over 20% which would lead me to use him in Cash games over GPPs. All five of these pitchers have the potential for the 7+ strikeout upside I look for when making my Pitcher pool.
FanDuel SP Targets
These targets were created using the filters in the MLB Study Hub under the FanDuel Pitcher Matchups tab! Same process as DraftKings! First, I created a filter for DK Rating greater than 100 then I sorted K% by Above Average. This is an easy filter that can be made in 30 seconds to create a Pitcher pool for FanDuel.
We get the same pitching pool as we did for DraftKings. This is not always the case but, today it worked out. Zack Wheeler is the only pitcher above $8,300 which may indicate that today is a day to get some high salary bats in the lineup!
Tyler Mahle is the chalk pitcher of the group on FanDuel coming in at over 25%. Like Wheeler on DraftKings, he is fine for Cash but, I will be going elsewhere in this pool for GPPs.
Luis Patino is really cheap at $6,800. We should be able to get some quality bats in the lineup with him at Starting Pitcher! Seattle strikes out 27% of their at bats against right handed pitching and Patino has elite strikeout stuff.
Hot Hitters
When selecting hitters, we want hitters that are swinging the stick well in a game that has peaks and valleys like MLB. Another easy filter to set up in less than one minute! Here are the steps:
- 30 Day wOBA greater than .399
- 30 Day ISO over .199
- DK OWN% less than 10%
- FD OWN% under 10%
Easy to set up and this gives you a pool of hitters to use on both DraftKings and FanDuel. There are a few ways you could use this pool:
Optimal Lineup –You could toss these players into a player pool on FantasyCruncher and crunch for one lineup. This is best suited for smaller contests and Cash games.
Stacking – For bigger contests, stacking is the way I would go. Looking at this pool, I see that there are multiples of Dodgers and Reds. This could lead me to prioritizing those stacks in GPPs and locking in the players from those teams in this pool to my lineup.
