Luis Castillo ($9,600) – Seattle Mariners
Castillo has a favorable matchup against the Chicago Cubs, as current Cubs hitters have a strikeout rate of 26.7% against pitchers similar to Castillo over the last two years, which is 6.7% higher than the league average. However, other matchup data favors the Cubs, so Castillo may not be the safest play. It’s worth noting that current Mariners hitters have an OPS of .821 against soft-throwing left-handed pitchers like Smyly over the last two years.
Zac Gallen ($7,100) – Arizona Diamondbacks
Gallen has a juicy matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers, as current Brewers hitters have a strikeout rate of 28.5% against top-tier right-handed pitchers like Gallen over the last two years, which is 8.5% higher than the league average. This makes Gallen a high-upside, lower-priced option for DFS lineups. Diamondbacks hitters have a 3.5-star average matchup against Miley, which could bode well for Gallen’s run support.
Julio Urias ($9,400) – Los Angeles Dodgers
Urias faces off against the San Francisco Giants, whose hitters have a 2.5-star average matchup against him. This could make Urias a solid pick for DFS lineups. It’s also worth noting that right-handed starters with above-average groundball rates like Webb have an ERA of 4.81 against the Dodgers since last year, which could work in Urias’ favor.
