MLB DFS Top Pitchers for Friday 4/28/23

Welcome to today’s article on MLB DFS Top Pitchers for Friday 4/28/23. As we approach the end of April, we have a full slate of games to choose from with some great pitching options to consider. In this article, we will be breaking down the top starting pitchers into three tiers: high-priced aces, mid-priced pitchers, and low-priced value options. Whether you’re looking for an expensive stud to anchor your lineup or a cheap option to save salary, we’ve got you covered. So, let’s get started and dive into the top pitching options for today’s slate.
MLB DFS Top Pitchers for Friday 4/28/23
High-Priced Pitchers
Jacob deGrom vs. Yankees – At a salary of over $11k on both sites, deGrom is the most expensive pitcher on the slate. But with a 42.5% K rate, 3.2% BB rate, and 1.67 SIERA, he’s also the best pitcher in the world. Even with a potentially limited pitch count, deGrom’s elite strikeout ability gives him the highest floor and highest ceiling of any pitcher on the slate.
Framber Valdez vs. Phillies – Valdez has been impressive this season with a 23.8% K rate, 7.8% BB rate, and 3.12 SIERA. He’s also ramped up his strikeouts, with 7+ strikeouts in three of his five starts this year. While he’s not quite at deGrom’s level, Valdez’s elite ground ball rate and solid innings make him a strong choice as a high-priced pitcher.
Mid-Priced Pitchers
Luis Castillo at Blue Jays – Castillo has a 27.6% K rate, 7% BB rate, and 3.31 SIERA this season. He’s been especially dominant against right-handed batters, striking out 36.4% of them. While he’s not quite at deGrom’s level, Castillo is a top-10 starter and a solid mid-priced option on DK.
Lucas Giolito vs. Rays – Giolito has come out strong this season with a 25.1% K rate and a career-low 5% walk rate. He’s been up over 100 pitches in three straight outings and while his strikeouts are down a bit from his normal level, they’re still well above many other pitchers on the slate. Facing the Rays is a tough matchup, but Giolito’s control and strikeout ability make him a strong option as a mid-priced pitcher.
Low-Priced Value Pitchers
Clarke Schmidt at Rangers – Schmidt is a risky option, but at a salary of $6,900 on FD and $4,000 on DK, he’s a solid value play. He put up a good start last week with some strikeouts in a tough matchup, and has shown the ability to rack up strikeouts per inning when given the opportunity. If he can get the innings and the pitch count cooperates, he has theoretical upside as a cheap pitcher.
Drew Rucinski at A’s – With Kyle Muller potentially being pushed back to tomorrow, Rucinski could start for the A’s tonight. He’s the bare minimum salary of $4,000 on DK and facing a Reds team that’s been struggling lately. While he’s not a great pitcher, he showed promise in Korea and could accidentally fall into a decent outing in a favorable matchup.
Overall, deGrom is the clear top pitcher on the slate, but there are several other strong options to consider as well. Valdez and Castillo are solid high-priced options, while Giolito and Schmidt are strong mid-priced and value plays. Rucinski is a risky option, but at minimum salary, he could be a viable option for a cheap pitcher. Good luck with your lineups!
