MLB DFS Top Pitchers for Tuesday 4/25/23 Main Slate

mlb dfs top pitchers

Welcome to another exciting day of MLB DFS! Today, we will be taking a closer look at the MLB DFS top pitchers for Tuesday April 25th main slate. Whether you’re looking for high-priced studs or value plays, we’ve got you covered. So, let’s dive into the list of top pitchers for today’s slate.

High Priced Pitchers: The Best of the Best

When it comes to the cream of the crop of high priced pitchers on today’s slate, there are three standout names: Justin Steele, Sean Manaea, and Nestor Cortes

Steele has been a dominant force on the mound this season, boasting an impressive ERA of 2.88 and a strikeout rate of 25%. He faces a favorable matchup against the San Diego Padres, who have a below average 2.5 star average matchup against left-handed pitchers like Steele.

Similarly, Manaea has been equally impressive, boasting a strikeout rate of 23% and a solid 3.95 SIERA. He takes on the St. Louis Cardinals, who have struggled against left-handed starters with above-average flyball rates like Manaea, posting a 4.37 ERA against them since last year.

But perhaps the most intriguing high priced pitcher on today’s slate is Nestor Cortes. Despite coming with a price tag of $9,900, Cortes boasts a matchup against the Minnesota Twins, whose current hitters have an OPS of just .615 against top-tier left-handed pitchers like Cortes over the last two years.

In addition to his favorable matchup, Cortes has shown some promising numbers of his own. He boasts a SIERA of 4.15 and an ERA of 2.53, with a solid strikeout rate of 26% and a low walk rate of 6%. These numbers suggest that Cortes has the potential to rack up strikeouts while limiting base runners, further enhancing his fantasy value.

While these high priced pitchers may come with a hefty price tag, their recent performances and favorable matchups make them worth the investment for any DFS lineup.

Mid Priced Pitchers: Finding Value in the Middle

In the middle of the price range for pitchers on today’s slate, there are a few names that stand out as potential value plays. Mike Clevinger and Charlie Morton both offer strong performances and favorable matchups, making them appealing options for fantasy owners.

Clevinger may not have the flashiest numbers, but he’s been consistently solid this season with a 4.17 ERA and a K% of 19%. He faces the Toronto Blue Jays, who have a 3-star average matchup against right-handed pitchers like Clevinger. While the Blue Jays are known for their power-hitting offense, Clevinger has the potential to limit their run production with his ability to generate strikeouts.

Morton, on the other hand, has been striking out batters at an impressive rate with a K% of 27% and a 3.67 ERA. He takes on the Miami Marlins, who have a 3-star average matchup against right-handed pitchers and have struggled against them this season. Morton’s ability to generate strikeouts and limit runs could make him a valuable addition to your DFS lineups.

When it comes to mid-priced pitchers, finding the right balance of performance and value can be tricky. However, Clevinger and Morton both offer a solid combination of both, making them worth considering for your DFS lineups.

Low Priced Value Pitchers: The Underdogs

Another low priced value pitcher worth considering is Josiah Gray of the Washington Nationals. With a DK salary of $6,200, Gray is set to take on the New York Mets. While the Mets hitters have a 3-star average matchup against Gray, the rookie right-hander has been impressive in his limited MLB experience, posting a 4.36 SIERA and a 23% strikeout rate.

Gray also possesses a solid groundball rate of 35%, which could come in handy against a Mets lineup that has a high hard-hit rate of 29%. While there is certainly some risk involved in rostering a relatively unproven pitcher like Gray, his low salary and potential for a strong outing make him an intriguing option for value seekers in DFS.

Next is Spencer Turnbull, who comes with a DK salary of just $5,200 and a matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers. While Brewers hitters have struck out 24.1% of the time against pitchers similar to Turnbull over the last two years, other matchup data favors the Brewers.

While these pitchers may come with a lower price tag, their potential for success against their respective opponents could make them valuable additions to your DFS lineups.

That concludes our rundown of the top pitchers for today’s MLB DFS main slate. With a mix of high-priced studs and value plays, you have plenty of options to choose from. Be sure to consider the matchups and recent performances of each pitcher before making your final decisions. Good luck and happy DFS playing!
