MLB DFS Top Pitchers for Wednesday 5/3/23

mlb dfs top pitchers

Welcome to today’s MLB DFS Top Pitchers for Wednesday 5/3/23 article. In this article I’m going to list 2 high priced pitchers, 2 mid priced pitchers and 2 low priced value pitching options for today’s MLB DFS slate.

High-Priced Pitchers:

Shohei Ohtani (LAA) – Ohtani is one of the most exciting and dominant players in baseball, known for his exceptional skills both as a pitcher and a hitter. On the mound, Ohtani has been lights-out this season, showcasing a 1.85 ERA and an impressive 35.1% strikeout rate. He will be facing the St. Louis Cardinals, who have struggled against top-tier right-handed pitchers like Ohtani, batting just .221 against them over the last two years. Ohtani’s ability to generate strikeouts and limit opposing hitters makes him a top choice for high-priced pitching options today.

Dylan Cease (CWS) – Cease has emerged as a strikeout artist, boasting a high strikeout rate and the ability to overpower hitters. He will be taking on the Minnesota Twins, and the current Twins hitters have a tendency to strike out against top-tier right-handed pitchers like Cease, with a strikeout rate of 27.8% over the past two years. Cease’s strikeout potential, combined with a favorable matchup, positions him as an intriguing high-priced pitcher for today’s slate.

Mid-Priced Pitchers:

Marcus Stroman (CHC) – Stroman has been a consistent and reliable pitcher this season, consistently going deep into games and limiting damage. He has showcased his ability to induce groundballs and keep hitters off balance. Stroman will be facing the Washington Nationals, and while the Nationals have an average matchup against him, Stroman’s stability and track record make him an appealing mid-priced option for today’s slate. His ability to pitch deep into games and minimize runs scored by the opposition increases his potential for a solid fantasy performance.

Kyle Gibson (BAL) – Gibson has been effective against the Kansas City Royals in the past, as the Royals hitters have struggled against soft-throwing right-handed pitchers like him. With a batting average of just .236 against pitchers with a similar profile to Gibson, he offers an opportunity for value at his mid-range price. Gibson’s ability to keep hitters off balance and induce weak contact makes him an interesting mid-priced option for today’s slate.

Low-Priced Value Pitchers:

JP Sears (OAK) – Sears is an affordable option who will be facing the Seattle Mariners. Pitchers with similar repertoires to Sears have performed well against the Mariners in the past year. Sears has the potential to provide value at his low price point, as he has the opportunity to navigate through the Mariners’ lineup and deliver a solid outing. If he can continue to limit runs and generate strikeouts, Sears could be a valuable low-priced option for today’s slate.

Louie Varland (MIN) – Varland is a budget-friendly pitcher who will be matched up against the Chicago White Sox. While his matchup against Dylan Cease presents a challenge, Varland offers value due to his low price and the potential for a respectable performance. Although the White Sox possess a potent lineup, Varland’s ability to execute his pitches effectively could lead to a solid outing and make him a valuable low-priced value play for today’s slate.
