mlb dfs top plays

Welcome to our latest article on MLB DFS Top Plays for Monday 5/1/23. As we dive into today’s slate, we’ll be focusing on some of the best individual hitters to consider for your lineups.

MLB DFS Top Plays for Monday 5/1/23

First up is George Springer of the Toronto Blue Jays. Springer is batting .375 (9-24) against Boston Red Sox pitcher Corey Kluber, who he will face tonight. Current Blue Jays hitters have an OPS of .836 against soft-throwing right-handed pitchers like Kluber over the last two years, which bodes well for Springer’s performance. With a DK rating of 95.85 and a projection of 10.13, Springer is definitely a top play for tonight.

Next, we have Alex Verdugo of the Boston Red Sox. He will be facing Jose Berrios of the Toronto Blue Jays, and Verdugo is slugging .667 in his last 60 plate appearances against right-handers who rely heavily on the curveball like Berrios over the last 2 seasons. Pitchers with similar repertoires to Berrios have an ERA of 5.19 against the Red Sox over the last year, so Verdugo has a good chance of continuing his hot streak. With a DK rating of 97.10 and a projection of 9.70, Verdugo is a solid play for tonight.

Jake Cronenworth of the San Diego Padres is also on our list of top plays. He will be facing Cincinnati Reds pitcher Luke Weaver, who has an average flyball rate. Cronenworth is batting just .211 (48-for-228) against right-handers with average flyball rates like Weaver over the last 2 seasons, but current Padres hitters have an OPS of .881 against bottom-tier right-handed pitchers like Weaver over the last two years. With a projection of 8.44 and a DK rating of 61.10, Cronenworth is a solid option for tonight’s slate.

Another Boston Red Sox player, Justin Turner, also makes our list. Turner will be facing Jose Berrios of the Toronto Blue Jays, and he batted .295 (78-for-264) when hitting at home over the last year. With a projection of 8.30 and a DK rating of 78.37, Turner has the potential to perform well tonight.

Daulton Varsho of the Toronto Blue Jays is also worth mentioning. He will be facing Corey Kluber of the Boston Red Sox, and Varsho has an OPS of .884 against soft-throwing right-handed pitchers like Kluber over the last two years. However, he has a lower well-hit rate in his last five games. With a projection of 8.24 and a DK rating of 70.35, Varsho could be a solid value play for those looking to save some salary.

Last but not least, we have Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres. He will be facing Luke Weaver of the Cincinnati Reds, and Tatis Jr. is slugging .794 in his last 81 plate appearances against bottom-tier right-handers like Weaver over the last 2 seasons. Current Padres hitters have an OPS of .881 against bottom-tier right-handed pitchers like Weaver over the last two years, so Tatis Jr. has a great chance of having a big night. With a projection of 11.33 and a DK rating of 64.22, Tatis Jr. is a top play for tonight.

In conclusion, these are some of the best individual hitters to consider for tonight’s MLB DFS slate. Keep in mind that matchups and projections can change throughout the day, so be sure to stay up to date on any updates before finalizing your lineups.
