MLB DFS Top Plays for Wednesday 5/10/23
First up, we have Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros, who is facing Griffin Canning of the Los Angeles Angels. Bregman has been slugging .596 in his last 113 plate appearances against bottom-tier right-handers like Canning over the last two seasons. Additionally, current Astros hitters have an OPS of .855 against bottom-tier right-handed pitchers like Canning over the last two years.
Next, we have LaMonte Wade Jr. of the San Francisco Giants, who will be facing Josiah Gray of the Washington Nationals. Right-handed starters with above-average flyball rates like Gray have an ERA of 4.74 against the Giants since last year.
Joc Pederson, also of the San Francisco Giants, will be facing Gray as well. Gray has allowed a slugging percentage of .637 against top-tier hitters like Pederson over the last two years.
Randal Grichuk of the Colorado Rockies will be facing Rich Hill of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Grichuk is batting just .200 (5-for-25) against left-handers who rely heavily on the curveball like Hill over the last two seasons. However, current Rockies hitters are batting .292 in their last 24 at-bats against Hill.
Mitch Haniger, also of the San Francisco Giants, will be facing Gray. Haniger is slugging .500 in his last 252 plate appearances against right-handers with high flyball rates like Gray over the last two seasons.
Lane Thomas of the Washington Nationals will be facing Sean Manaea of the San Francisco Giants. Thomas has a Well-Hit Rate of just 12.1% in his last 91 at-bats, while Nationals hitters have a 2.5 star average matchup against Manaea.

J.D. Davis of the San Francisco Giants will also be facing Gray. Gray has allowed a slugging percentage of .565 against right-handed batters who hit for high average like Davis over the last two years.
Harrison Bader of the New York Yankees will be facing Kyle Muller of the Oakland Athletics. Bader slugged just .388 in 328 at-bats when hitting at home over the last year, but Yankees hitters have a 3.5 star average matchup against Muller.
Jose Abreu of the Houston Astros will be facing Canning. Abreu is slugging .460 in his last 362 plate appearances against right-handers with high flyball rates like Canning over the last two seasons.
Jesus Sanchez of the Miami Marlins will be facing Merrill Kelly of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sanchez is slugging .500 in 64 at-bats this season, while current Marlins hitters have struck out 17.6% of the time against pitchers similar to Kelly over the last two years (League Avg: 20%).
Esteury Ruiz of the Oakland Athletics will be facing Jhony Brito of the New York Yankees. Matchup data is limited, but it favors Ruiz.
Chris Taylor of the Los Angeles Dodgers will be facing Wade Miley of the Milwaukee Brewers. Taylor is slugging .750 in his last 18 plate appearances against left-handers who rely heavily on the cutter like Miley over the last two seasons. Additionally, left-handed starters with above-average groundball rates like Miley have an ERA of 4.97 against the Dodgers since last year.
Lastly, Ty France of the Seattle Mariners will be facing Dane Dunning of the Texas Rangers. France has an OPS of 1.294 in 18 plate appearances over the last five days. Although Dunning has struck out 25.8% of the Mariners hitters he has faced in 62 plate appearances over the last two years, other matchup data favors the Mariners.
