MLB DFS Top Stacks for Wednesday 4/12/23 Early Slate

mlb dfs top stacks

Welcome to today’s MLB DFS Top Stacks article for Wednesday 4/12/23. The MLB games scheduled for today are set to kick off at 12:35 pm, with the Houston Astros facing off against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fanduel has a “Very Early” 6-game slate that includes this match, but it excludes the two games that are set to start at 4:05 pm. On the other hand, Draftkings has chosen not to include the 12:35 pm game, but it has included the two games that are set to start at 4:05 pm, making a total of 8 games on the Early slate. For the purposes of this article, we will be focusing on the Draftkings Early slate.

Quick Note

If you’re looking to maximize your chances of success in today’s early slate on Draftkings, it’s important to keep in mind that the game in Coors Field between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Colorado Rockies is likely to be highly owned. While this game presents an excellent stacking opportunity, it’s also worth considering other less obvious stacks in order to differentiate your lineup and potentially gain an edge over the competition. In this article I’ll be highlighting the other top stacks on the slate outside of the Coors Field game.

Los Angeles Angels

In today’s early slate on Draftkings, the Los Angeles Angels have an intriguing matchup against the Washington Nationals, who will be starting left-hander MacKenzie Gore. The Angels have a number of players who are projected to perform well in this matchup, making them an excellent team to target for stacking purposes.

The top player to consider for a stack is outfielder Mike Trout, who is priced at $5,900 on Draftkings. Trout has been hitting well against hard-throwing left-handed pitchers like Gore, with a slugging percentage of .594 in his last 40 plate appearances over the last two seasons. Hunter Renfroe, another Angels outfielder, is also worth considering for a stack, as he has a strong recent record against left-handers who rely heavily on the slider and curve. Renfroe is priced at $4,800 on Draftkings.

Other Angels players to consider for a stack include outfielder Taylor Ward ($5,200), third baseman Anthony Rendon ($4,300), first baseman/second baseman Brandon Drury ($4,100), third baseman/shortstop Gio Urshela ($4,000), second baseman/shortstop Luis Rengifo ($3,600), catcher Logan O’Hoppe ($4,000), first baseman/catcher Matt Thaiss ($2,300), and first baseman/outfielder Jake Lamb ($2,200).

While not all of these players are projected to perform as strongly as Trout and Renfroe, they all have some positive matchup data against left-handed pitchers like Gore. It’s also worth noting that while the Angels have a relatively high strikeout rate against pitchers like Gore, other matchup data still favors them in this game.

New York Yankees

The New York Yankees are ready to take on the Cleveland Indians in what is sure to be an exciting matchup. With some fantastic batting matchups to consider, we’re feeling optimistic about their chances of racking up some serious points on DraftKings.

Leading the charge is Aaron Judge, whose impressive .309 road batting average over the last year has us feeling good about his prospects for today’s game. Meanwhile, Anthony Rizzo is looking to continue his hot streak, having hit .314 in his last 35 at-bats. And while Giancarlo Stanton‘s matchup data is limited, we’re feeling optimistic about his chances of coming up big for the Yankees today.

The rest of the Yankees’ lineup is also looking strong, with Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu both favored in their limited matchup data. While Franchy Cordero and Kyle Higashioka have had some struggles on the road, we’re confident that they can turn things around and put up some solid numbers today.

All in all, we’re feeling good about the Yankees’ chances of stacking up some serious points on DraftKings today. Keep an eye on these players and be sure to consider them for your own lineups.

Cleveland Guardians

In today’s early slate on DraftKings, the Cleveland Guardians have an exciting matchup against the New York Yankees, who will be starting right-hander Clarke Schmidt. The Guardians have a number of players who are projected to perform well in this matchup, making them an excellent team to target for stacking purposes.

The top player to consider for a stack is third baseman Jose Ramirez, who is priced at $6,000 on DraftKings. Ramirez has a strong recent record against right-handers who rely heavily on the cutter like Schmidt, with a slugging percentage of .735 in his last 36 plate appearances over the last two seasons. Outfielder Steven Kwan, another Guardians player, is also worth considering for a stack, as he performs well in several matchup categories today. Kwan is priced at $4,400 on DraftKings.

Other Guardians players to consider for a stack include second baseman Andres Gimenez ($4,500), first baseman Josh Naylor ($4,200), shortstop Amed Rosario ($4,500), first baseman Josh Bell ($4,000), outfielder Myles Straw ($3,700), outfielder Will Brennan ($2,700), catcher Cam Gallagher ($2,600), catcher Mike Zunino ($3,900), outfielder Oscar Gonzalez ($3,000), and infielder Gabriel Arias ($2,200).

While not all of these players are projected to perform as strongly as Ramirez and Kwan, they all have some positive matchup data against right-handers like Schmidt. It’s also worth noting that while the Guardians have a relatively low team batting average, they have a higher OPS than the Yankees against right-handers with high groundball rates, which Schmidt possesses.

Chicago Cubs

Wrigley Field is the place to be today as the Chicago Cubs go head-to-head against the Seattle Mariners, and the wind is blowing out, making for some exciting potential for power hitters. Logan Gilbert will be taking the mound for the Mariners, but the limited matchup data favors the Cubs hitters, making them a prime choice for stacking on DraftKings.

Shortstop Dansby Swanson is the standout player to consider for a stack, priced at $5,300 on DraftKings. Swanson has a stellar record against right-handers who rely heavily on the fastball, like Gilbert, with a slugging percentage of .533 in his last 107 plate appearances over the last two seasons. Outfielder Ian Happ is another solid option for a stack, with a strong history against right-handers with high flyball rates. Happ is priced at $5,100 on DraftKings.

The Cubs have plenty of other players to consider for a stack, such as second baseman Nico Hoerner ($4,200), third baseman Patrick Wisdom ($4,600), and outfielder Cody Bellinger ($3,100). Even players like first baseman Trey Mancini ($2,600) and catcher Luis Torrens ($2,100) have favorable matchup data against right-handed pitchers like Gilbert.

Although the Cubs hitters have a higher strikeout rate against pitchers similar to Gilbert, they have shown the potential to perform well in this game. With the wind blowing out at Wrigley Field, we could see some big hits and even more reason to consider stacking the Cubs in today’s DraftKings matchups.
