MLB EARLY PICKS FOR DRAFTKINGS AND FANDUEL 8-16

Max Scherzer- At $10,800 on DraftKings and $11,100 on FanDuel, Scherzer is priced up for a matchup against Baltimore. Scherzer has performed up to expectations in the 2020 campaign posting a K/9 of 13.27 and a FIP of 2.36. I’ll be locking Scherzer into my cash lineups.
Lance McCullers- At $8,700 on DraftKings and $8,800 on FanDuel, McCullers is at a reasonable price point is a good matchup against Seattle. McCullers seemed to return to form last time out throwing seven strong innings and only allowing one hit against San Francisco. With an implied run total of 3.66, I expect McCullers to keep the momentum and provide a high floor on today’s slate.
Hitters
Houston Astros- Houston is going up against Justus Sheffield with an implied run total of 5.84. Sheffield hasn’t shown command of the strike zone in 2020 with a BB/9 of 3.95. More baserunners will lead to more scoring opportunities for the Astros offense. Focus on Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Yuli Gurriel, and George Springer.
Minnesota Twins- Minnesota is going up against Brady Singer with an implied run total of 5.54. Singer has yet to have a strong start at the MLB level posting a FIP of 4.73 thus far in 2020. The Twins should score early and often in this spot. Focus on Nelson Cruz, Eddie Rosario, Jorge Polanco, and Max Kepler.

Robbie Erlin- At $4,000 on DraftKings and $5,500 on FanDuel, Erlin is my top pay down starting pitcher on today’s slate. Erlin was serviceable in 2019 posting a K/9 of 8.46 and a FIP of 3.61. Erlin. only needs to throw about 4 good innings to hit value and his price point opens up a ton of salary to get the top hitters on the slate. I’ll have some shares of Erlin on today’s slate.
Zack Wheeler- At $9,900 on DraftKings and $8,400 on FanDuel, I expect Wheeler to go overlooked in a matchup against the Mets. An implied total of 4.36 should contribute to an ownership discount and Wheeler can rack up double-digit strikeouts when he has his good stuff. Wheeler is a volatile play that is perfect for tournaments.
Stacks
Cleveland Indians- The Indians are going up against Michael Fulmer with an implied run total of 4.82. Cleveland has struggled offensively only posting a wRC+ of 69 in 2020 but, Fulmer is not going to dominate any MLB offense. Cleveland should be low owned and I expect them to score early and often against Fulmer. Focus on Jose Ramirez, Francisco Lindor, Franmil Reyes, and Carlos Santana.
Chicago White Sox- The White Sox are going up against Dakota Hudson with an implied run total of 4.98. The White Sox have posted a wRC+ of 105 and have power throughout the lineup. I expect big power numbers from the White Sox in this spot. Focus on Yoan Moncada, Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez, and Edwin Encarnacion.
