Coach TMay is back and giving his daily MLB Early Targets for DraftKings and FanDuel. He’s been smashing it with his daily Single Entry picks and pool that he gives out. Let’s take a peek at players he is targeting early in his research.
Yu Darvish- At $10,400 on DraftKings and $9,600 on FanDuel, Darvish is priced up for a matchup against a Brewers team that has struggled offensively. Milwaukee has posted a wRC+ of 88 and has struck out 27.8% of their plate appearances in 2020. Darvish has gotten off to a strong start in 2020 posting a FIP of 1.68 and a K/9 of 8.47. I expect Darvish to cruise through 6 innings on today’s slate.
Anthony DeSclafani- At $8,200 on DraftKings and $7,100 on FanDuel, DeSclafani is at a great price for a matchup against a pedestrian Pirates offense. Pittsburgh ranks dead last in MLB with a wRC+ of 69 and has an implied run total of 3.77. DeSclafani is extremely underpriced on FanDuel and should be popular on today’s slate.
Philadelphia Phillies- Philadelphia is going against Tom Eshelman with an implied run total of 5.53. Eshelman has posted a K/9 of 3.68 in a limited sample in 2020 which indicates that the Phillies will not be outmatched in this spot. Focus on Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, J.T. Realmuto, and Didi Gregorious.
Tampa Bay Rays- Red Sox starting pitcher Kyle Hart is making his MLB debut against Tampa Bay on today’s slate. With an implied run total of 5.18, I don’t anticipate the Rays having any issues scoring runs in bunches in this spot. Focus on Austin Meadows, Yandy Diaz, Hunter Renfroe, and Mike Brosseau.
Tyler Glasnow- At $9,100 on DraftKings and $8,800 on FanDuel, Glasnow is at an appealing price point against Boston. Boston has been an average offense posting a wRC+ of 98 but, they have a lot of power in their lineup. Glasnow’s ceiling is always through the roof due to his high K/9 of 11.27 in 2019 and 15.09 in a limited 2020 sample. Watch news regarding his pitch count going into today’s slate.
Chris Paddack- At $8,500 on DraftKings, Paddack is priced down for this matchup against the Dodgers. The Dodgers are a top tier offense but, Paddack is underpriced relative to his ceiling. He is a guy that can rack up 10 plus strikeout games against any offense. I’ll have some shares of Paddack.
San Diego Padres- Julio Urias has posted a below-average K/9 of 6.0 thus far in 2020 and the Padres have posted a wRC+ of 118. San Diego could go overlooked due to the 3.86 implied run total. Focus on Fernando Tatis, Manny Machado, Wil Myers, and Tommy Pham. Cincinnati Reds- The Reds are going up against Trevor Williams with an implied run total of 5.23. Williams has been a below-average starting pitcher posting a FIP of 5.12 and a K/9 of 6.98 in 2019. The Reds have posted a league-average wRC+ of 97 in 2020 but, they have power up and down the lineup that equates to a high ceiling. Focus on Nick Castellanos, Eugenio Suarez, Joey Votto, and Jesse Winker.
