MLB Early Targets for DraftKings and FanDuel 8-15
MLB EARLY TARGETS FOR DRAFTKINGS AND FANDUEL 8-15
Cash Plays
SP
Cristian Javier- At $7,400 on DraftKings and $7,800 on FanDuel, Javier is underpriced for a matchup against a below-average Seattle offense. With an implied run total of 3.64, I like spending down to Javier in this spot. He has a K/9 of 9.64 in his short MLB career and is only going to continue to get better. I expect a strong outing out of Javier on today’s slate.
Patrick Corbin- At $10,500 on DraftKings and $10,600 on FanDuel, Corbin is my favorite spend up starting pitcher for cash games. The Nationals are a team that prefers to get length out of their starters which makes Corbin a high floor play. An implied run total of 3.87 suggests that Corbin should succeed in this spot against Baltimore.
Hitters
Colorado Rockies- Colorado is facing off against Kyle Gibson in Coors Field with an implied run total of 6.76. Gibson has been about league average in 2020 posting a K/9 of 8.80 and a FIP of 4.84. I don’t anticipate the Rockies struggling to score two games in a row at home. Focus on Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story, and Daniel Murphy.
Houston Astros- Houston has a matchup against Nick Margevicius with an implied run total of 5.36. Margevicius has been a below-average MLB pitcher in his career and posted a K/9 of 6.63 in 2019. Houston should score early and often in this spot. Focus on Alex Bregman, Michael Brantley, Kyle Tucker, and George Springer.
GPP Plays
SP
German Marquez- At $8,300 on DraftKings and $8,400 on FanDuel, Marquez is squaring off against a Texas Rangers offense that is ranked 29th in MLB with a wRC+ of 69. An implied run total of 5.24 and Coors Field should keep his ownership low. Marquez has posted a K/9 of 9.35 and a FIP of 2.70 in 2020. I’ll have shares of Marques in tournaments.
James Paxton- At $8,100 on DraftKings and FanDuel, Paxton is underpriced relative to his ceiling on both sites against a struggling Boston offense. Paxton had 2 rough starts to begin 2020 where his velocity was down but, he regained velocity during his last start and threw 6 1/3 strong innings. Paxton posted a K/9 of 11.11 in 2019 and Boston has struck out 24.5% of their plate appearances in 2020. Paxton is a great tournament play.
Stacks
Los Angeles Dodgers- The Dodgers are going up against Andrew Heaney with an implied run total of 4.82. Heaney has been good in 2020 posting a K/9 of 9 and a FIP of 2.56. The matchup should keep the Dodgers’ ownership low and they have a wRC+ of 114. Focus on Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and Justin Turner.
San Diego Padres- The Padres have a matchup against Alex Young on today’s slate in Arizona. Young has posted a FIP of 5.67 in 2020 and the Padres have a solid group of right-handed power hitters. Focus on Wil Myers, Tommy Pham, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis.
