MLB GPP Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel 9-12

Grab a cup of coffee and let’s dive into my MLB GPP picks for the main slate on DraftKings and Fanduel. Be sure to subscribe to get in-depth analysis, Study Hubs, tiered rankings, player pools, and $20 of FantasyCruncher credit monthly for Ronin members! I’m going to highlight plays that have tournament winning upside. Let’s get into it.

Starting Pitchers

Zac Gallen- At $9,400 on DraftKings and $10,000 on FanDuel, Gallen is priced up for a matchup against Seattle. Gallen has been a rock in the Diamondbacks rotation posting a K/9 of 9.82 and an xFIP of 3.64. Seattle presents a positive matchup for Gallen posting a wRC+ of 92 and a K% of 23.4%. Gallen will be popular but, he’s the best pay up option on the slate. I’ll have Gallen in tournaments.

Reynaldo Lopez- At $5,900 on DraftKings and $6,000 on FanDuel, Lopez is priced down for a matchup against Detroit. Putting it mildly, Lopez has not put it together at the MLB level yet but, Detroit strikes out at a staggering rate of 27.2%. Command has been what has held back Lopez in his career posting a BB/9 of 3.82 since 2016. If he has his command, Lopez will smash value on both sites. I’ll embrace volatility with Lopez in tournaments.

Justus Sheffield- At $7,700 on DraftKings and $8,600 on FanDuel, Sheffield is priced in the mid-range for a matchup against Arizona. This is more of a DraftKings play than a FanDuel play for me. Arizona has been abysmal on offense posting a wRC+ of 78 in 2020. Sheffield has shown that he has the potential to strike out 7 to 10 in an outing but, hasn’t put it all together yet. I’ll take some shots with Sheffield in tournaments.

Stacks

Colorado Rockies- The Rockies have a matchup with Jaime Barria with an implied run total of 6.49. Not a ton to say here besides this game is at Coors Field and Barria is a below-average arm. Barria has posted a BB/9 of 3.38 and an xFIP of 5.22 in 2020. Extra baserunners are a recipe for disaster when playing at Coors. I expect Colorado to score early and often in this spot. Focus on Trevor Story, Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, and Raimel Tapia.

Chicago White Sox- The White Sox have a matchup against Michael Fulmer with an implied run total of 5.77. Michael Fulmer has not been missing bats and he’s being hit hard. This is a prime spot for a White Sox lineup that has posted a wRC+ of 118 and an ISO of .202. I will have the White Sox at volume on today’s slate. Focus on Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada, Jose Abreu, and Luis Robert.

Kansas City Royals- The Royals have a date with Trevor Williams with an implied run total of 4.72. Williams has struggled in 2020 posting a BB/9 of 3.35 and an xFIP of 4.90. The Royals aren’t a sexy pick by any means but, they should come in low owned and they’ll be cheap enough to free up salary for top bats for the rest of your lineup. I’ll have some shares of Kansas City in tournaments. Focus on Salvador Perez, Whit Merrifield, Hunter Dozier, and Adalberto Mondesi.
