I’m going to highlight plays that have tournament winning upside. Let’s get into it.
Starting Pitchers
Gerrit Cole-At $9,900 on DraftKings and $11,500 on FanDuel, Cole is priced up for a matchup against Toronto. Cole has lived up to expectations this season posting a K/9 of 12.05 and an xFIP of 3.43. He has been even better than those numbers over his last 2 starts posting 19 strikeouts and 1 earned run allowed over 13 innings pitched. I expect Cole to overpower the Blue Jays in this spot and he will be the cornerstone of my pitching exposure.
Jacob deGrom- At $10,400 on DraftKings and $11,700 on FanDuel, deGrom is priced up for a matchup against Philadelphia. deGrom has been deGoat in 2020 posting a K/9 of 13.17 and an xFIP of 2.44. The Phillies have been solid offensively posting a wRC+ of 109 and an ISO of .188. With an implied run total of 3.52, I’ll be going to deGrom in this spot. Even if the Phillies tag him for a couple of solo homers, he could still have a great day if he posts double-digit strikeouts. I’ll have deGrom in tournaments.
Lance McCullers- At $7,500 on DraftKings and $8,100 on FanDuel, McCullers is priced in the mid-range for a matchup against Texas. McCullers is coming off a neck injury which is most likely why he is underpriced on both sites. He’s a guy that can rack up 7-10 strikeouts in a start when he has his command and Texas is striking out 24.6% of their plate appearances. I’m willing to take my chances with McCullers.
Stacks
New York Yankees- The Yankees are facing Tanner Roark with an implied run total of 5.33. The Yankees are getting healthy and clicking on offense pushing their 2020 wRC+ to 107 and ISO to .192, Roark hasn’t been finding success in 2020 posting a K/9 of 7.9 and an xFIP of 5.68. I’m going to ride the hot bats and massive total in this spot. Focus on Luke Voit, Clint Frazier, Aaron Hicks, and Giancarlo Stanton.
Atlanta Braves- The Braves have a matchup against Keegan Akin with an implied run total of 5.32. The Braves have been elite offensively posting a wRC+ of 118 and an ISO of .216. Keegan is still getting his feet wet in the bigs and has struggled with command posting a BB/9 of 5.27. The Braves have a monumental ceiling due to the amount of power they have in the lineup. I expect Atlanta to score early and often in this spot. Focus on Ronald Acuna Jr., Freddie Freeman, Marcell Ozuna, and Adam Duvall.
San Francisco Giants- The Giants have a matchup against Ljay Newsome with an implied run total of 4.62. Newsome does not have a large sample size in MLB yet but, scouts project him as a control pitcher who does not have overpowering stuff. The Giants have been elite on offense posting a wRC+ of 111 and an ISO of .184. Sign me up for a matchup od an elite offense against an inexperienced pitch to contact starting pitcher. Focus on Mike Yastrzemski, Alex Dickerson, Brandon Belt, and Evan Longoria.
See ya in discord,
