MLB Picks and Advice 8-21

Cash Plays
SP
Aaron Nola- At $9,900 on DraftKings and $10,700 on FanDuel, Nola is priced up for a matchup against Atlanta. Nola has been one of the best pitchers in baseball in 2020 posting a K/9 of 12.65 and a FIP of 2.27. Atlanta struck out 10 times against Nola during their last meeting and I expect a solid outing from Nola today.
Max Fried- At $8,900 on DraftKings and $9,400 on FanDuel, Fried is at a reasonable price point for a matchup against Philadelphia. Fried has been elite in 2020 posting a K/9 of 8.65 and. a FIP of 2.35. I’m looking to Fried for a high floor play. I expect a quality start from Fried.
Hitters
Los Angeles Dodgers- The Dodgers have a matchup against Jon Gray with an implied run total of 5.45. Gray has posted a FIP of 4.68 in 2020 and the total suggests the Dodgers lineup should score plenty of runs. Focus on Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and Joc Pederson.
Cleveland Indians- The Indians have a matchup against Michael Fulmer with an implied run total of 5.48. The Cleveland offense has come to life after a slow start and just dominated Fulmer on 8/16. I expect the Indians to score in bunches in this spot. Focus on Franmil Reyes, Jose Ramirez, Francisco Lindor, and Carlos Santana.

GPP Plays

Walker Beuhler- At $10,200 on DraftKings and $8,500 on FanDuel, Buehler is underpriced on FanDuel and priced where he should be on DraftKings. Beuhler has struggled with command posting a 4.26 BB/9 and a HR/9 of 2.37. Buehler is the most talented pitched on the slate and I expect him to attack the Colorado lineup on today’s slate. I’ll have shares of Buehler in tournaments.
Adam Plutko- At $6,300 on DraftKings and $6,100 on FanDuel, Plutko is priced down for a matchup against Detroit. Plutko is a below-average starting pitcher but, Detroit has struck out 27.5% of their plate appearances in 2020. An implied run total of 4.02 indicates that there’s an avenue for success for Plutko. I’ll have shares of Plutko to get to the higher-priced bats.
Stacks
San Fransisco Giants- The Giants have a matchup against Robbie Ray with an implied run total of 4.5. Ray has struggled in 2020 posting a BB/9 of 8.18 and a FIP of 7.69. A lack of command equates to more run-scoring opportunities for the Giants. Focus on Austin Slater, Wilmer Flores, Joey Bart, and Mike Yastrzemski.
Oakland Athletics- The A’s have a matchup against Andrew Heaney with an implied run total of 4.75. The A’s have been swinging hot bats in recent weeks pushing their 2020 wRC+ to 109 and ISO to .191. I expect Oakland to be under-owned and they have power throughout the lineup. Focus on Matt Chapman, Marcus Semien, Ramon Laureano, and Mark Canha.
