MLB Picks and Advice 8-25
Gerrit Cole- At $10,600 on DraftKings and $11,000 on FanDuel, Cole is priced up for a matchup against Atlanta. Cole has posted a K/9 of 11.00 and a FIP of 3.81. I expect Cole to cruise through 6 to 7 innings and provide a high floor. I’ll have Cole in cash games.
Chris Paddack- At $7,800 on DraftKings and $8,900 on FanDuel, Paddack is at a reasonable price against Seattle. This is more of a DraftKings play than a FanDuel play. There is an abundance of studs on the slate and $7,800 is a great price for Paddack. Seattle has struggled offensively posting a wRC+ of 89 and a K% of 24.1%. I like Paddack as a high floor play.
Houston Astros- The Astros have a matchup against either Julio Teheran or Jose Suarez with an implied run total of 5.64. No matter who they face, the Astros should have no problems scoring in this spot. Both starting pitchers have struggled immensely, and the total is through the roof. Focus on Kyle Tucker, George Springer, Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve.
Chicago White Sox – The White Sox are facing Steven Brault with an implied run total of 5.51. Brault has been pitching to contact posting an average K/9 of 6.79 and the White Sox have posted an elite wRC+ of 120. I expect a high floor from the White Sox bats. Focus on Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, Luis Robert, and Yoan Moncada.
Shane Bieber- At $10,800 on DraftKings and $12,000 on FanDuel, Bieber is priced up for a matchup against Minnesota. Bieber has taken the league by storm posting a K/9 of 14.39 and a FIP of 1.74. I expect Bieber to dominate Minnesota and he will be the cornerstone of my starting pitcher exposure.
Brandon Woodruff- At $8,200 on DraftKings and $7,800 on FanDuel, Woodruff is at a favorable price point against Cincinnati. The Reds have been disappointing offensively posting a wRC+ of 93 and Woodruff has posted a K/9 of 9.68. I expect a quality start from Woodruff in this spot.
Los Angeles Dodgers- The Dodgers have a matchup against Johnny Cueto with an implied run total of 5.18 Cueto has been league average in 2020 posting a K/9 of 7.84 and a FIP of 4.01. I expect the Dodgers to score early and often in this spot. Focus on Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, and Joc Pederson.
San Diego Padres- The Padres have a matchup against Marco Gonzales with an implied run total of 4.64. Gonzales is not a dominant pitcher by any stretch posting a K/9 of 7.89 and a FIP of 3.64. The Padres have been hitting the long ball with regularity posting an ISO of .223 and a wRC+ of 116. Focus on Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Wil Myers, and Trent Grisham.
